In this Episode, Colin Koskinen and Joe Allera AKA "The Boogieman" discuss pre-rut strategies and current observations on private and public land.
Joe breaks down his small property where he has done extreme habitat work, and how it has improved his overall hunting. Colin asks some follow-up questions since he was out on the property cutting timber for Joe in the spring.
Colin Talks about some recent Research out of Penn State University showing some studies on buck travel distances during the breeding season and how that can both help or hurt you on a small property.
Joe discusses his strategies on his home property and how he has consistently killed big bucks by hunting the fringes and only going in when he knows his odds are high of killing a good buck.
Colin talks about how trail cameras can often give you the full representation of what deer are doing on your property, and how important key deer behavior observations are from the stand.
Joe Talks about his Public land strategies and how he works around common challenges many of us face when hunting public land. Joe talks about how to be aggressive in some situations and when to play it safe.

In this episode, Colin Is joined by well-renowned Michigan whitetail bow hunter John Eberhart.
John discusses how he breaks down both public and private land hunting locations. John goes into detail about what to look for when scouting these areas, and how to hunt them with many outside factors that are continually changing.
John talks about the Importance of Security cover and details how to hunt these bedding areas, and how many times he hunts them before moving to a new location.
Colin discusses with John how security cover can be too thick, and deer will not want to use those areas. Colin Gives an example of similar situations on personal and client properties.
John gives an example of a property he was scouting for another landowner and how important the surrounding properties play into your hunting success.
John goes into some things he uses E-scouting for, and also the things that cannot be seen just by using E-scouting.
Colin talks about situations where boots-on-the-ground scouting or consulting is critical for a client's success and his ability to give solid recommendations to a hunter/landowner.
In this episode, Colin is joined by a good friend and Whitetail Habitat Consultant Jake Hendrickson.
Jake tells the story of his most recent mature buck he harvested on his highly managed Michigan property, and how he strategically created a game plan to get this buck in daylight and have an encounter with him, and his plan was executed perfectly.
Colin Gives an update on how his season has gone thus far, a recent encounter with a great 3-year-old buck he calls "Crab Claw 7", and several other Hunting observations he has made on how the deer are using new habitat improvements on the farm this year.
Jake and Colin Discuss some of the observations they have made about buck's core areas and home ranges, and how that is very dependent on your buck to doe ratio, habitat quality, and hunting pressure.
Colin Discusses Hunting Scrapes and some key things to be looking for right now with collecting the most recent data and observations. Jake and Colin talk about several situations were having lots of mock scrapes on your property can really increase daylight mature buck activity on your property.
Lastly we wrap things up by discussing what might be one of the greatest weeks of the season, breaking down why this weather front is so good, and some other key tips when breaking down weather for mature buck activity.

In this Episode, Colin is Joined by Jake Ehlinger owner of Habitat Solutions 360.
Jake first talks about managing your timber in high deer density situations where it can be hard to keep diverse quality native habitat thriving with so many deer browsing on it constantly. He also talks about how he cuts on a property, to make it easy to maintain, and maximize space within a bedding area.
Next, Jake talks about how he started planting food plots and how much he has learned. He talks about different planting methods he has used, how he has integrated cover crops into his food plots, and also the recent use of Plot Dr products from Harper Growing Solutions, to maximize his food plot yields.
Colin then talks about his use of high-diversity food plot blends, what he has learned from them over the years, and how to always have plenty of different types of food plot plants on your property to help with drought and browse pressure.
To wrap things up, Jake discusses some great key observations that he has made to create a good early-season strategy for getting on potential bucks in October. He also talks about the importance of taking advantage of cold fronts, and how key the weather can be during the early season.
In this episode, I am Joined by My friend Al Tomechko, as we discuss Many different aspects of soil structure, diversity in cover crops, Fixing your PH and how and why to limit much lime you apply each year. We also talk about the tissue sampling that Al has done on his food plots, and what he has learned from them. While at the same time, discussing some challenges I have had growing food plots in poor soil, and how to properly fertilize a mix to get the Carbon/Nitrogen system up and running.
