Well, hello there, Legion! We’re back! The podcast had to take a hiatus, between my better half heading off to London for Star Wars Celebration (where his short film Star Wars: The Sable Corsair won the audience choice award), San Diego Comic-Con, a trip to Austin for the film Hell or High Water and general life stuff. Now that that’s behind us, we’re back on schedule! On this week’s Legion of Leia Podcast episode 46, my co-hosts Anastasia Washington, Sabina Ibarra and I welcome award-winning designer Camille Falciola! Her Marauder’s Map dress (won by recent podcast guest Alicia Marie) won the audience choice award at the Her Universe fashion show down at the con! She’s also working on a very cool web series called Remain Calm. (We’ve included the trailer below.)

This week we’re talking all about the show and doing a post-mortem on the convention. We learn all about how Camille made the map appear and disappear on the dress, which is absolutely fascinating! (As someone who can’t even sew a button on, this actually sounds like Harry Potter magic!). We also take on the Pokemon Go updates, which are a nightmare, the absolutely insane Suicide Squad petition to shut down Rotten Tomatoes because some fanboys/fangirls are weeny whiney babies, and a lot more!

On this week’s Legion of Leia Podcast episode 43, my co-hosts Anastasia Washington, Sabina Ibarra and I welcome author and actress Kimberly De Liz. She’s written a new book called A Lullaby of Flies, which deals with her lifelong struggle with an eating disorder and her life in the military. (You can check out a review here!) This week we take on the state of geek fashion, why we still find 50 geek shirts for men in Target and 2 for women, how things have changed and everyday cosplay. I personally can’t sew a stitch and I’m in awe of people who can do this! Even more so because I get to wear the fruits of their labor.

The book, which has illustrations by Brenda Hickey, is about a young girl who’s crazy adolescent issues manifest in the world as she tries not to be the weirdest! Her Universe founder, the absolutely amazing Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars) started Her Universe Press to give new writers a chance to get their work seen! This week we also take on the new Ghostbusters trailer and discuss the response to the new film. (For the record, I’m on board with the ladies, just not jazzed about the trailer.) Then there is the whole extravaganza of Shane Black, director of Iron Man 3 saying his original villain for the film was a woman and it was nixed because of toy sale concerns.
