Should we rebuke evil or should we coexist with it? We must consider what we are commanded to do by scripture, compared to what is actually taking place in our nation and our world. Are our churches attempting to coexist with evil?
King Solomon, in Proverbs, commands us to rebuke and correct the scoffer as well as to correct the faithful. Jude gives us warning about allowing the condemned and evil to poison our congregations and lead them astray.
Proverbs 19:9 As false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
19:25 Strike a scoffer and the [a]naive may become shrewd, But reprove one who has understanding and he will [b]gain knowledge.
Proverbs 24:24-25 He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him; But to those who rebuke the wicked will be delight, And a good blessing will come upon them.
Deuteronomy 9:5 It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the LORD your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Jude 1:4-7 (4) For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
