  • Leid Stories—Trump Gears Up for A Re-Up. Is He Mad, or Just Plain Crazy?—08.23.17

At a packed “Make America Great Again” rally yesterday in Phoenix, Ariz., President Donald Trump was on fire, proudly telling his supporters that together they had achieved so much in just seven months. It’s a rough road ahead, he said, but if they re-upped, so will he.
That sentiment was far from what protesters outside were feeling. So loud and angry, they forced an early end to the rally and Trump’s departure.
Listeners offer their takes on whether Trump should pursue reelection, based on recent events.

  • Leid Stories—Commander in Chief Looks Forward to His First Nice Wars, Starting in Afghanistan and South Asia—08.22.17

President Donald Trump yesterday announced to soldiers at the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va., that U.S. military policy and tactics in Afghanistan and South Asia have been revised. He did not spell out the changes he has made, saying that it’s about “killing terrorists.”
Leid Stories listeners discuss Trump’s speech, paying attention to what he was communicating, even though he didn’t actually voice it.

  • Leid Stories—Indictment of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Ex-Tech Aide Opens Many Cans of Worms–08.21.17

George Webb, a citizen journalist with Crowdsource the Truth, who was the first to raise pointed questions about Imran Awan, returns with more answers about the Pakistan-born IT engineer who owned and operated his own private business while managing to add several dozen high-level congressional accounts, most of them from Democrats serving on committees handling classified information.
On July 24, Awan was arrested at Dulles International Airport on bank-fraud charges. Last Thursday, Awan’s wife, Hina Awan, also was charged with bank fraud.
Webb reveals additional details about the Awan family and the feds’ intense interest in Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the fired former chair of the Democratic National Committee.

  • Leid Stories—Trump and His ‘Facts’ About Charlottesville—08.16.17

He would have addressed sooner the race war that exploded last Saturday in a three-part tragedy in Charlottesville, Va., but President Donald Trump said he thought it ill-advised to speak without knowing “all the facts.”
That moment apparently came yesterday. Armed with the “facts,” Trump called a news conference at his Trump Tower in Manhattan to tell America the truth of what happened. Well, he didn’t.
Leid Stories shares and discusses Trump’s “facts” about the state of affairs in Charlottesville.

  • Leid Stories—After Charlottesville, A Slow Burn or Slow Burnout for Trump?—08.15.17

America has noted President Donald Trump’s slow-to-show, half-hearted reaction to the deadly, white-racist protest in Charlottesville, Va., last Saturday. And they’re seeing that swift reaction and opposition by the people to other Charlottesville-style protests planned across the country are being cancelled.
Trump, bewilderingly, sees a political opportunity here to [re-] build his base for re-election. Does this not suggest that Leid Stories is right to say that there’s “something very wrong” with his head?

  • Leid Stories—Charlottesville: After Violent White-Nationalist Protest, Persistent Denial About Race in America—08.14.17

The normally quiet college town of Charlottesville, Va., is still grappling with the enormity of the events that have put it at front and center of heavy news coverage since Friday.
But as awful as the news out of Charlottesville has been these past few days, it’s a stark reminder to all Americans that in fundamental ways things have not changed at all.
