Lance exudes the coolest style. He loves business, he loves travel, and he definitely loves doing both together. He is a marketing genius as well. Using his creativity, he has mastered the art of raising $$ through Kickstarter, raising over $1,000,000 to fund his company. We talked about the joys of making his company a reality, as well as how he pivoted when his initial vision went south. He also talked about the joys of doing business in a different country and how much our lives and thoughts are shaped by the environment we are raised in. Lance's life is full of rich experiences and it was an absolute blast walking down memory lane with him. He is now stoked to strip his latest sprinter van and turn into a vehicle his family can live in. Total adventure. Just the way he likes it. Hope you enjoy the podcast!

John Hilton is a genuinely happy man. He has light oozing out of him. Not only is he a fellow snowboarder and a magician, he is a fellow brother in Christ. He had his magical award winning moment as an author when we won a competition in 3rd grade, and already he felt he was on his life path. It was great doing a deep dive with him about considering the broken Christ on the cross. Having similar backgrounds in faith, it was great to hear from him about the many lessons he has learned in life. He loves connecting with people and sharing his knowledge in hopes that their burdens may be lifted just a bit more. Hope you all enjoy the podcast!

Sarath. Sweet Sarath. How I love this guy. As you can tell from last names, Sarath and I are brothers. I'm 5 years older, and we have been blessed to have a great relationship our whole lives. Sarath and I were raised by the same parents but have lived two very different lives. Our paths are finally crossing after years of being on two different journeys. While my life consisted of being obedient to parents because of fear, Sarath rebelled. He hated authority. He hated restrictions. He wanted to create his own rules. He admits that oftentimes this led to disaster. Sarath got involved in drugs over a decade ago and that ruined his life for a very long time. He talked about his suffering and everything he did to survive. Sarath finally saw he wanted a desperate change in his life and went to treatment centers for help. He is now a completely changed man, being 4 years clean. He has incredible light in his life and loves to help people anywhere he can. He is very articulate and intelligent in his thoughts and wants to share his light. Although I knew a glimpse of his story, on the podcast we dove deep and I got to hear so many details of his life. It was truly incredible for me. Hope you all enjoy it.

Nicholas has a massive zest for life. A believer of God from an early age, he always desired to do His will. He as led to be a traveling youth pastor, working sometimes 12-14 hours a day. He loved his mission and felt God’s love pouring in him. Then when the rug was pulled out underneath him and couldn’t keep traveling due to the decisions of others, he decided to spread the work of God in a different direction. He started to work on his first screenplay. In 4 years of time of being in the film industry, he has put together a script that has drawn the attention of some Hollywood bigwigs. He is now set to help produce and star in what will hopefully become an action epic filled with Christian theology and values. It’s a really cool adventure he is embarking on and he carved out a bit of time to share his story with me. Enjoy!

Greg Trimble is one of those people who does things. I know that sounds pretty vague, but there's a lot of people out there who don't do things because they're afraid the outcome might not live up to their expectations. So to expound a little, when Greg has a cool idea, there's no back burner for him to throw the idea on to be tackled later, he just does it. He's already started plenty of businesses, written several books, and written tons of blogs.
One of his most treasured lessons he learned from a tech company he created in college. He learned the importance of building a strong and healthy culture at the foundation of a company, which is what he practices currently at the digital marketing agency he founded, Lemonade Stand!
Greg is such a great guy, I love our conversations! If you haven't had the chance yet to read his books, you're missing out! Check out his website for all of his books, blogs, and any future updates!
I hope you enjoy this uplifting episode as much as I did!

If Ganel-Lyn and I could get a dollar for the many times our names have been butchered by others, we would probably have billions of dollars in bitcoin. From talking about having braces in our adult years to feeling we are in the middle of heavy stuff, our podcast was so filled with light and joy because we discussed so much of the author of Light and Joy. Ganel-Lyn doesn't shy away from her spiritual faith, because it is at the root of who she is. And she is an absolute delight to be around. She is filled with so much knowledge and was dropping truth bombs after truth bombs. We had such a fun time discussing the things that truly bring us joy and lift us out of despair. When Ganel-Lyn lost her sister to death by suicide, she felt the lowest of the lows. Getting out of that was no easy task, but in the process, really came to know her Maker. We have had a really fun time chatting and hope you really enjoy this podcast!

Robert Payne has the unusual super power of being almost unrealistically optimistic. Forget about the fact that after taking the vaccination, he had an unusual reaction that left him with Bells Palsy for the last 4 months. He still remains as optimistic and cheerful as ever. He said he has always seen the world as bright. There was no real turning point that made him have a different perspective on life. It was as if he was born to see the light in all things. He chose to be a bankruptcy lawyer because he really felt he could lift people up. And what a ride it has been for him. He deals with people who are at the lowest of their lows every single day. So many people dealing with such emotional and mental stress. He is happy to help them start over and reset. I asked him if ever gets bogged down by it all, and he simply replied "No." He loves doing what he does. This type of outlook is incredibly refreshing in a world filled with negativity and hate. He shines bright and helps lift others up. It's incredible. Had an awesome time chatting with this man!

Although Brandon and I haven't known each other for a long time, I feel like we have become brothers from another mother. We met just over a month ago and learned that we felt so aligned in so many different ways. And as I got to know him more, I sensed that he has one of the purest hearts of the people I know. He just wants to do good. He always had a vivid imagination and figured out a way to turn his imagination in a very successful career as an author. His story of "The Other End of the Hippo" and "FableHaven" are just incredible. Today we chatted about his journey becoming an author, from writing books that no one ever wanted to publish to selling over 2 million books worldwide and creating experiences that people can latch on to. As an avid reader, I have been such a fan of his works so it was really a privilege to chat with him about the things that mean most to him. His 5th book in the Dragon Watch series comes out October 26th and concludes the Kendra and Seth story that he penned back in 2006. We talked about his books, the wrecking balls in life that made him lose hope, and the healing power of God that brought life back to him. Such a great time chatting with this man. Enjoy!

"We treat our employees even better than we treat our customers." - Rachel
Seems like radical advice, but the infusion of positivity in the lives of the employees is one of the main reasons Thirst is expanding and growing at the rate that they are.
It's not just about the specialty drinks and snacks. It's about the experience the customers have when they walk through the door. An experience, only genuinely happy employees can give. With that mindset, and the power of free social media, Thirst has exploded.
Rachel sat down with me at the Lemonade Stand and shared some of her secrets as to why Thirst has been exploding in business, especially during times when the world was shutting down. She and her partner Ethan, who also happens to be the CEO, have found a great rhythm working together. She said the secret to their success is also to have autonomy in their relationship and empower each other all along the way.
We had a great chat today and am now thirsty for their beverages. That was an incredibly terrible pun, but you get the idea. Enjoy the podcast!

Warning: This podcast does get dark. Will goes into detail about what he witnessed.
--
Will Beck is an extraordinary human being. And this was a very extraordinary podcast. Normally I chat extensively with my guests regarding their line of work, how they got here, etc. But Will went through a very horrific incident that he opened up to me about. In 1999, the world was shocked to hear about a public school shooting at Colombine High school in Littleton, CO. It was unheard of and terrifying. Will was a sophmore in Colombine HS at the time and went through the ordeal. From seeing people get shot to barely making it out himself, Will has a fresh perspective of hope from the entire incident. Senseless tragedies like this help us very quickly see what is most important in life. Grateful Will was able to come and share his story.
