  • Maclain Nelson, Writer and Director of Once I Was Engaged

The year was 1998, and football season was well underway.  Timpview and Highland were neck and neck.  This was unheard of.  Clearly, Timpview was the underdog.  And yet the score was super close.  Timpview 41, Highland 40.  In the last few seconds of the game, while the Highland QB threw what was going to be the winning touchdown, their moment of undying glory, little Maclain Nelson stepped up and intercepted it! Timpview won!! They beat Highland! Oh man, those were the glory days, and Maclain loves it when I tell that story, which is why I shared it publicly on this podcast! But for reals, Maclain and my history go back to good old 9th grade.  And amidst all the sports practices, Mac found a love of filmmaking.  Back then it was little videos for High school assemblies.  This evolved into feature film directing.  After a myriad of projects, Maclain wrote and directed "Once I was a Beehive." It slowly but surely captured some die hard fans.  Years later he created the spinoff stand alone feature "Once I was Engaged" which is currently in theaters.  Mac worked his magic again and created a fun and memorable world in this Rom Com that teaches incredible lessons about truly following your heart when making life changing decisions.  It is so good and you should check it out!

You can find all details of screenings here:  www.onceiwasengaged.com

We had a great time reminiscing and chatting about the process of making this film and all the incredible memories he made with friends.  Enjoy!

  • John Moyer, Writer, Director, and Certified Hypnotist

If you grew up watching LDS movies like Singles Ward, RM,  and Mobsters and Mormon, you will have heard of John Moyer's name.  John wrote those movies and directed Mobsters and Mormon as well.  But John as led a very eclectic and cool life.  In addition to writing and directing, John also spent years as a stand up comedian.  He noticed however that audience members started to dwindle but showed up in groves whenever a stage hypnotist showed up.  He then pivoted and declared that he was going to be a stage hypnotist.  He did so, and crushed it.  But along the way, John started to learn about the true power of the mind.  Especially when he attempted suicide.  He realized the depression he suffered came from the stories his mind was creating.  Understanding this from a new point of view, he started to learn how the mind could be rewired, and as a result, experience a different kind of life.  He became a certified hypnotist, meaning one who could actually help people through hypnotherapy.  He created a youtube channel that exploded and has helped many, many people around the world.  One of John's mantras is "Circumstances don't matter, only your state of being does." Grounding himself in a positive state of being, he started to watch as rough circumstances in his life faded away and positive experiences came into his life.  He is now married to the woman not of his dreams because he couldn't even dream of her being that amazing and wonderful.  He is continuing to make a positive impact wherever he goes.  Glad we got sit and chat about life!

  • Amelia Wilcox, CEO of Zenovate

Wellness.  Amelia Wilcox breathes this to the core of her being.  Sitting down with her and chatting, I immediately sensed the confidence and ease in the way she carries her self, approaches life, etc.  She has the greatest sense of humor and laughs through the stresses of life.  And she has faced her share of it, when her very successful massage therapy business she created for the corporate world immediately came to a screeching halt once Covid hit.  She knew at that moment that she needed to pivot, and pivot quickly.  So after assessing the needs of everyone, she knew that people needed to process their feelings over this complete change of lifestyle.  She created an online therapy business that could help people immediately; no need to schedule things out weeks in advance.  People's moods started to shifting and her new company Zenovate, is off to a flying start.  It has been so rad connecting with Amelia on super important topics like mental health in the workplace.  Enjoy!

  • John Maxim & David Cline, Creators of the epic $20K+ Utah Treasure Hunts

In 2020, two friends hid $5,000 dollars in the mountains of Utah, leaving cryptic clues to lead locals on an epic four-day treasure hunt. The motivation behind the hunt? Simply to get people outside and having fun after months of COVID pandemic quarantine.

In 2021, they raised the stakes to $10,000—and left a series of clues that took seventeen days to solve as thousands of people raked the hiking trails along the Wasatch Front.

In 2022, they went even further and are giving away $20,000 in a treasure chest, that is, if you're clever enough to solve their riddle 😉. Now this isn't even the craziest part, they're not doing just one hunt for 20k, but 3 separate treasure hunts throughout the year, each with a chest of 20,000 dollars waiting at the end!

So who was behind these epic treasure hunts? John Maxim and David Cline, two Salt Lake City residents and business owners. John is a real estate mogul and house flipper, and David is an author and investor. Our host Charan Prabhakar talked with them about their experience planning the hunts, how this year’s adventure exploded to get international attention, and the unexpected ways these treasure hunts have inspired individuals and brought families and communities closer. Have a listen, and enjoy!

For current and future treasure hunts, visit Dave and John at utahtreasurehunts.com or follow @the.cline.fam & @onthejohn on Instagram for real time updates.

  • Steven Hoffman, CEO of Founders Space

When the chairman of Sega calls to design video games for them, Steven Hoffman had no choice but to drop everything and go.  Sounds like a crazy adventure, but this just skims the surface of Steven’s reality.  Steven has gone down the path of many different start ups.  Some have been wildly successful and some have failed miserably.  In those failures, he learned that so much of his suffering came from the negative script he was playing over and over in his head.  He learned that there were many voices going on in his head and he had the power to turn down one voice and amplify another.  Doing so, his life started shifting dramatically.  He didn’t overly place his value on the success of his company.  He focused more on how he would act and react to the things life through his way.  Currently he is the CEO of Founders Space, One of the top incubation companies in the world.  He loves seeing future entrepreneurs succeed and is so open to chatting with everyone.  Seriously reach out to him.  He will respond back! We had a great time chatting on this podcast.

  • Chad Gundersen, Producer of The Chosen

Chad is truly the salt of the earth.  I don’t say that only because he has salt and pepper hair.  He is truly one of the most genuine and kind guys I have met working in film.  And he happens to be the main producer of the Chosen, which has now reached over 200 million views on their app alone.  It’s been a wild, wild ride and he has been on the forefront, helping keep the ship afloat.  We joked that if anything was going to happen, it would always happen on that show.  From freak storms to freezing temperatures, to managing thousands and thousands of extras all wearing period pieces, The Chosen has had its fair share of challenges.  And Chad has been in the boxing ring, taking care of each of the fires.  We talked a lot about what it takes to rely on God and each other, and how to avoid the self centeredness that plagues the industry.  Chad gave some incredible bits of wisdom on the business side of filmmaking and talked about how to find joy in the challenges.  Great advice for life, really.  Enjoy!

  • Rex Rian, Author of the Golden Series, Founder of 3 Peaks Institute and the Ascension Academy

It truly is my privilege to have had Rex on the podcast today.  He is an incredible man and my mentor.  Earlier this year, when I was sharing with my friend about some of the spiritual experiences I had been having this year, he recommended that I pick up and read Golden Sapphire by Rex Rian.  I read it and was instantly hooked.  The book spoke to my soul in a way I couldn't even explain.  It was like the exact things I was experiencing was written down in the book.  After finishing it, I found Rex's number on his website and contacted him.  And now he is my mentor that I visit with every month.  There are so many interesting and profound messages in his books that can truly elevate humanity.  In addition to the series, he also has an online school called the Ascension Academy.  It's a fantastic way to dive deep into your soul and discover who you are.   Loved diving into deep convos with Rex today.  Hope you enjoy the podcast and seriously check out the websites below.

  • Derral Eves, CEO of The Chosen on creating things that truly matter

Why would anyone choose to crawl through broken glass? I would never consider doing that as a bucket list item.  Yet Derral figuratively has, over and over and over.  That's why he is the expert marketer that he is.  Derral's genius mind and work ethic has been some of the driving force of some of youtube's greatest all stars: the Piano Guys, Mr. Beast, etc.  He is also partners with Dallas Jenkins in the Chosen and has put in the incredible amount of time necessary to build the audience to where it currently is at.  Derral loves causes.  He loves building audiences to rally around things that truly matter.  He shares how money is the byproduct of someone that chooses to reinvest in themselves, their business, etc.  Derral was dropping so many truth bombs it was hard to keep track.  So glad he took the time to be on the Lemonade Stand Stories Podcast.  Enjoy!

  • Jared Stewart, CEO of Tribehouse

Can happiness be compounded, where everyday is better than the last? Jared Stewart certainly seems to think so.  After examining some of his previously existing narratives, he found that life can truly be joyful if lived by certain principles.  Jared is the founder of Tribehouse, a company whose focus is to gather as many tribes as possible.  He loves the connection that comes from authentic relationships.  He has found that his best business ventures happened when he worked with those he truly cared about.  This has led to make wise choices not just in business, but in life.  Jared is most extroverted introvert I have met.  He loves people and making connections, but he doesn't enjoy the surface level stuff.  He wants to have deep meaningful connections.  It was an absolute pleasure chatting with him and seeing where the future of Tribehouse is going to head towards.  Enjoy!
