Off the back of a deeply inspiring trip immersed in the beauty of Lanzarote, Christophe Salin returns with his latest LP - a softly spoken yet emphatic record that speaks of landscape, sun, sea and the finer things in the rich tapestry of life….
Ever since his first exposure to House music in the 90s, Salin has thrown himself into producing, DJing and all facets of hardware discovery. His initial work on white labels and edits blossomed into the formation of Salin Records, which he has used as an outlet for his recent creative expressions. His sound is firmly established in house traditions, with expert groove lines and melodic sequences being utilized to full effect, but it is his love of equipment which has continued to fuel his desire to explore his sound to the fullest. His tunes are fun, fresh and emotive, bringing together the very best of the genre, with his own personal twist on things riding front and centre throughout his enriching discography.
Whilst Salin draws deeply from house music, his new record ‘Ocean & Cliffs’ draws as deeply from a new source of inspiration - the island of Lanzarote. Following walks through the island’s captivating and dynamic landscapes, Salin was drawn almost to the ‘nothingness’ of space, its quiet and peaceful charm, and as a result, he began work on the bones of ‘Ocean & Cliffs’. When moving through the record there is a sense of Lanzarote’s influence being discovered everywhere - as if turning over rocks on the ground, sifting through sand on the beach, hearing the breeze in the palm trees. There is a soothing energy that can, in many ways, only really be found in nature, where someone is to fully embrace this state of mind and create music based upon these feelings. His new LP has a very natural energy to it, filled with rhythms that echo footsteps through the hills and the notion of being in a space much bigger than a human sense of scale - and that is the beauty of it all, isn’t it?

  • PREMIERE : Aili - Fashion (Maelstrom & Louisahhh Remix)
A kaleidoscopic sonic riot, Belgium-Japanese duo Aili's debut album Nandakke? has proven to be one of 2024's breakout hits, its joyful collision of electro-pop, electronica, house music and so much more grabbing the attention of everyone from the Belgian national press to the likes of KCRW in the United States. Now, whilst the band are busy touring the album, Eskimo present some club ready remixes and reworks.
First up is another Belgian newcomer GAIKO, who has been making a name for himself over the past year with his own rhythmically intricate, genre defying electronica. For his remix of Oyasumi, Gaiko has plated the track's rolling bass line and ecstatic breakbeats in a sheen of chrome adding hypnotic gqom influenced rhythms and staccato snares to produce an adrenaline fuelled remix that demands to soundtrack an ultra speed car chase through neon lit streets.
No stranger to Eskimo Recordings, Danish producer Kasper Bjørke returns to take the razor to previous Aili single Fashion and deliver a dreamy cosmic remix. Teasing the track apart, Bjørke applies a soft gossamer gauze to Fashion's already languid bass line and gives the song's laidback disco rhythm even more room to breathe, allowing Aili's vocals to float up into the night sky and allow the track to take its place amongst the stars.
Clash Lion co-founders Terr & Daniel Watts team up to deliver a remix of Japanese street food anthem, Takoyaki. With a string of hits on labels like Permanent Vacation and Phantasy Sound to their credit both producers know how to re-tool a track for the club and they don't disappoint here transforming Takoyaki into the kind of unstoppable disco house that builds into an ecstatic wave of pulsating synth arpeggios, cowbell and Aili's celebratory vocals, all ready to wash over the dancefloor.
Swedish producer and another Eskimo regular Paresse turns his attention to Aili's tribute to the power of love (and Justin Bieber), Babychan. Sensibly Paresse does nothing to dampen the original's joyous explosion of sound, but rather channels its exuberance into a more DJ friendly shape, reworking many of its existing parts so that Aili's vocals are now carried into the night by rubbery synths, electro bass stabs and a club ready house beat.
For their take on Fashion, French electro/techno stars Maelstrom & Louisahhh have opted to completely rework the track and take it in a much darker direction. With its overdriven bass, corroded industrial beats and Louisahhh's own interpretation of the vocals, this version of Fashion is one tailor made for strobe lit Berlin warehouses rather than the catwalks of Paris or Tokyo.

  • PREMIERE : Wu Kush - Dripping With Honey
After a brief hiatus Wu returns with an album of guitar adjacent tunes pondering the age-old question - does guitar belong in house music?
Probably not but this didn't stop him from trying..
Originally a guitar player and jazz student, the journey into electronic music led him to putting the instrument aside whilst he found his electronic music production chops. Now with releases
under his belt and likely harboring a delusional disorder about his abilities, the idea of mixing house with 70's prog rock, funk, blues, pop, breaks, latin, deep house and elevator music bore fruit.
Spanning 8 tracks the results are here, so please dig in.

  • PREMIERE : Monibi – ... Goes On Strike
As the nights grow longer and winter settles in, Berlin's W133 is proud to present the label’s second major vinyl release. W133008, a split EP shared by label newcomer Insomniast and his friend Monibi, who returns for her second appearance, will warm up your cozy evenings or fuel sweaty club nights. This record truly offers a bit of everything.
The A-side, by Insomniast, kicks off with "Cut the Chord," a playful, house-inspired dancefloor weapon sure to light up many dancers' hearts. Following that is "Fooling Him," a break-heavy, darker rumbler packed with high energy. The third and final track on the A-side is "Istanbul," a melancholic, bassy dreamer featuring a Middle Eastern flute.
Monibi takes over the B-side, starting rough with "Your Hoe...," a 4/4 stepper which is inspired by the challenges of living and freelancing in the hustle and grind culture. The modulated vocal sample “I'm your hoe” is about selling your labour, creativity, and skills and sometimes other parts of yourself like your boundaries.
Her second track, "...Goes on Strike," ties back to B1, offering a dreamy vibe with late '90s-style vocals, heartwarming arpeggios, and a rumbling, melodic bassline. It is a track about going on strike, interrupting the system, and taking to the streets in a joyful manner. A carefree stint of optimism.
The last track of the EP is a clashup of "Your Hoe" and "Cut the Chord" by label boss Pino Peña, combining the most energetic elements of both songs to create a powerful DJ tool.
The release is set for 1.11.24 as a limited 12” edition of 100 copies, as well as a digital release. The fully printed artwork features photography by Philipp Roth.

  • PREMIERE : S.U.R.E. - Meet U
Presenting MEET U out on the 18th of October via their own SUPER UPHORIC imprint, fast-rising UK-based duo S.U.R.E. offer a chunky house groover harkening back to the 90s acid house era.
Born as a conceptual celebration of the 90s rave era, S.U.R.E. continues to explore various pockets of this scene through a reinvigorated modern lens, weaving old school sounds and
samples with sharp production and threading together a signature sound throughout a range of classic genres that gave birth to a bygone scene decades before.
This time the duo heads in a club-ready 4x4 house direction, with proggy elements syncing atop an acid-led bassline and pitched vocals, underpinned by classic chopped breaks – an ever present signature of the S.U.R.E. aesthetic.

Next up is 'But I Miss You Everyday' - which unlike its melancholic title - is a joyful and playful vocal cut delivered with bags of youthful energy.
