In the book Star Wars Archives Prequels 1999-2005, there's some concept art from a deleted scene with Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The dialogue in this scene, I believe could have changed a lot of things in Star Wars in regards to alerting the Jedi of Anakin and Padme's relationship (as if it wasn't clear enough). This would leave no room to ignore the fact that they didn't know what Skywalker's future might look like given his emotional range that was quite evident.
