"Dear Mamas, I heard about this restaurant in New Orleans that’s charging its white customers $30 for lunch, but charging black customers $12! How is this legal, and why in the world would anyone in this day and age think that discrimination based on race is okay?"

Is it us, parents? Social media? Media in general? My husband thinks that we parents have become too soft on our kids. (But in truth, I feel his approach is too old school. He doesn't give much leniency and expects too much from them). What do y'all think?"

"Dear Mamas, I know we have a big discipline problem in a lot of our local schools and I saw a news story out of Baton Rouge that I think would help. Instead of suspending kids, they make their parents come to school and sit next to them in every class! I think this is awesome! What do you think, and how can we make that happen here?"

This plan pushes parents to be more involved and hands-on in their child’s education and discipline, and motivates kids to stay out of trouble. Since implementing this policy, Donaldsonville schools have seen a 50% cut in suspensions. We took this question to the Mamas, Teri and Denise, on last night’s “What Would Mama Do?” and got their thoughts on the policy, its effectiveness, and whether it would work here in Caddo or Bossier Parish.

"I understand why folks are up in arms over gun control but if they drove my route to work every morning they would be storming Washington over texting and driving. What I experienced on 49 this morning was a daily potential disaster. I need some parents to listen to me before it's too late." We talked to her about the dangers of distracted driving, and the dire consequences kids, and adults, may face if they don't pay attention to the road.

Listener Submission: "Did you hear about that story out of Monroe where the 13 year old shot and killed a 17 year old girl? He was playing with a handgun, and she demanded that he get out of the car. He said it wasn’t loaded and pulled the trigger, and killed her? I can’t even imagine the pain of that family. I also can’t imagine what would make a kid be that reckless with a gun. How are we supposed to make sense of any of this?"
