Connecting at the Human Level, by Legendary Leaders:
Welcome to the show / discussion teammates! I am so thankful that you have stepped up to join in on this vitally important discussion, and I look forward to where this goes and excited about the opportunity we have to make a positive difference!
Let’s go ‘round the room for intros
Why are we here? What is “connecting at the human level” and why am I so adamant about it?
Well, this is something that has been on my heart for a few years now, and it is something that I do NOT believe that we do consistently GREAT across our service. I have had discussions about this at numerous bases, and I believe that we are still missing the mark. I wanted to bring this discussion into the virtual space, in an attempt to push it to a broader audience through diverse perspectives and experiences….ergo, here we are!
**Disclaimer** I along with the rest of the panel members speak from our experiences and perspectives, and do not speak for any particular wing or the Air Force. It is our desire to have a conversation about connection, that will hopefully drive discussions / change, in our Squadrons across our Air Force. You will hear stories and statements that highlight a certain perspective; however, names, locations and personally identifiable details will NOT be included, obviously for privacy reasons.
We will also utilize some statistics in our discussions, but keep in mind that these types of things are always fluid and there are sometimes different levels of release with varying information…meaning you may know of a different number or stat.
Now, to my panel and audience:
THANK YOU ALL for stepping up to engage and to attempt to make a difference in our Air Force!
To the audience, we look forward to your engagement, wisdom and feedback; and we also hope that this sparks discussion with you and your teams across the Air Force, in an effort to achieve a stronger connection with each other!
Here is my opening thesis:
The lack of connecting at the human level attributes to resentment, toxicity, depression, lack of inclusion, suicide and multiple other issues across our force.
