Episode 16: A Conversation with Rosemarie May Gironda
Welcome to Episode 16 of Let’s Chat Creative Pathways! 🎙️
In this episode, I sit down with Rosemarie May Gironda, an art teacher in the Brockton Public School District. We recorded our conversation in the library of the Hamilton Wade Douglas House, where I hold a weekly residency. This past summer, Rosemarie joined me there as a guest artist for a day, working alongside the residents.
Together, we dive into:
✨ The different paths we’ve taken in art education
✨ Meeting people “wherever you’re at” and the power of Art + Advocacy
✨ Finding the balance between choice-based learning and assigned projects
✨ The empowerment that comes through language translations
✨ Diversity in our communities and classrooms
✨ Embracing what it means to be a “Type B” teacher
✨ Why art is often collaborative
This is a thoughtful and inspiring conversation about finding your place as an educator, creating space for all learners, and remembering that collaboration and advocacy are at the heart of the arts.
