Everyone is waking up to how important sustainability is in business, and we can do our part! Being an openly sustainable business and sharing ethical work practices is going to be important to consumers in 2023, so you want to start thinking about how you can adapt. Recent studies are showing that consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable products and support sustainable businesses. This is a newer concept to me as an online business owner myself! When I think about sustainability I think shipping, packaging, reducing packaging, adding products that encourage sustainability, etc… but I found some really great articles about how you can be more sustainable even if you don’t have a product based business! I’ll site them in the show notes so you can learn more! Here’s a stat I found that really stood out to me that I wanted to share before we dive into this deeper-" Environmentally and socially-responsible businesses are on the rise. Consumers are increasingly conscious of where and what they buy, whether online or in a store – so much so, that a recent survey found 88 percent of shoppers want brands to help them live more sustainably." What does that look like for your business? It’s time to brainstorm because a sustainable business will stand out this year!

Back with our 2023 business trend! Today we are talking all about video. Video is still going to be where it’s at this year… especially short form video. Yes, I’m talking Reels and TikTok! Ok, this week we are talking about one of my favorite 2023 business trends… Less Focus On Social Media!

Now of course social media isn’t going anywhere, but gone are the days of relying on social media as the meatiest part of your marketing strategy! We started to see this shifting after Instagram ghosted us all last October (2021) and it was a huge eye opener for many business owners about how much we relied on that platform to run our businesses and if it did just up and disappear one day we would be ..well… screwed. In fact, as I'm recording this my own Instagram has been compromised and it could be deleted forever and it is completely out of my control… yes I’m freaking out…. But luckily more and more people are opening an eye to the fact that social isn’t everything! Now, I will admit that social media is always going to be a huge part of my strategy and is a tried and true space for me to find new business, but here are the things I’m using right now while my Instagram is shut down to make sure my business doesn’t just disappear!
