Episode #2) *SPOILERS ABOUND* - Nightcrawler released just as I was beginning film school. I can usually recall memorable viewings of films, but this one is a total blur. I think my mind was ransacked by the utter ambition and intelligence of the movie that played before me. Dan Gilroy was a first time director making this movie, and in my opinion, his work following this film does not live up to the masterpiece of his first go at it. That tells me that Nightcrawler was a passion project of his, which can clearly be seen on screen. I only ever ask the films I watch to be unique in some fashion, I need them to bring an aspect to the medium that I've never seen prior. This film is wholly unique in every aspect of the filmmaking, which is why I consider it to be my top favorite movie of all time.
