This week we watched the 1976 quasi factual The Town that Dreaded Sundown from the filmmakers behind The Legend of Boggy Creek. Come for the story of a masked man terrorizing Texarkana Arkansas and stay for wonderful performances from Ben Johnson, Andrew Prine, and a surprising turn from Dawn Wells aka Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island. This week, we dive into Cruising (1980), William Friedkin’s controversial thriller about an undercover cop hunting a serial killer in New York City's vibrant late-'70s LGBTQ nightclub scene. Inspired by the chilling Bag Murders—where dismembered bodies were discovered in garbage bags floating in the Hudson River—this film is as unsettling as it is unforgettable.
