Let's Talk About Stuff!

On today's show, we're talking about 2024's prequel to the 'A Quiet Place' series, 'A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE' (SPOILERS!)!

We discuss the new characters, setting the film in New York, pizza as character motivation, Joseph Quinn looking like RDJ, the cat’s lack of hissing in the film, murky water, and the potential benefits of having the AQP aliens around!

All this, plus: The response to PotatoGate, teaching someone how to whistle, high-speed car chases, the age-related lie Coolio told in 'Gangsta's Paradise' & a disturbing fact about hedgehogs.

BITCH YEAH!

After a raucous good time with the latest Marvel theatrical film Deadpool & Wolverine, we decided to revisit where it all began - 1986’s HOWARD THE DUCK! We talk about George Lucas’ involvement and the decent effects in a pretty bad movie, Lea Thompson being the only saving grace, if Howard is a superhero, and Steven has a pretty emotional response to the music score!

We also discuss going to the Army Surplus store as a kid and if that makes you strange, The Boys Season 4 (Amazon Prime), Man-Thing (2005), Bratz dolls for some reason, table-side guacamole, and time traveling back to the 90s!

WE’RE BRONIES AND WE’RE BRATZ.

On today's show, we discuss the newest film set in the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and potentially the final film in Fox-Marvel timeline?), 2024's 'DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE'!

We begin with a NON-SPOILER review of the film (check the chapters of your podcast player), but then we delve into SPOILERS as we discuss details the trailers purposely left out, meta-humor jokes, the surprising cameos, whether Cassandra Nova is an interesting villain, the mixing of personalities of the title characters, annoying Deadpool fans, the Taylor Swift rumor affecting back issue comic sales, 'Dogpool', & of course...WOLVERINE'S COSTUME!

We also briefly discuss Apple's Dark Mode setting at the beginning, but we all know why you're really here, bub.

SHIT YOUR BRAINS OFF.

The Year of the Turt' continues as we discuss the franchise's very first filmic adventure, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (1990)! We talk about how the movie blends the edginess of the original Mirage comics with the fun of the 1987 cartoon, how great the turtle costumes look, the relationships between the four turtles, the overall quality of acting, the unique sounding film score, Shredder's obsession with petty crime, Sam Rockwell, the iconic Pizza Hut commercial from the VHS tape, & so much more!

We also discuss the 150+ issue comic series from IDW and it's recent relaunch, whether or not movies debuting in theaters is important, & the best costume to wear to a roller rink in order to skip work.

Is ‘Glen Powell Summer’ over? Not in our hearts. We finish out this spectacular, impromptu series with an animated treat from one of our faves, Richard Linklater, with the 2022 film APOLLO 10 1/2: A SPACE AGE CHILDHOOD (2022)! We talk about the interesting rotoscoped animation, the mundane suburban life made extraordinary at the hands of Linklater, and the voice talents of Jack Black, Zachary Levi, Glen Powell, and many more!

We also talk about the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Middle of the Night by Riley Sager (novel), Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), Presumed Innocent (AppleTV+), and we wax nostalgic for pinball machines for some reason!

We discuss the directors & actors of each film, our feelings on disaster movies in general, how Oklahomans react to severe weather, tornado fighting, people from Arkansas, how a zebra = a cow, and for some reason...Debbie Does Dallas.

PEACE OFF.

On today's show, we establish and continue our impromptu Glen Powell movie month by talking about the 2023 (or is it 2024?) Richard Linklater-directed film, HIT MAN! We discuss the chemistry of the lead actors, Linklater's approach to directing this kind of film, the true story this movie was based on, & so much more!

We also discuss the recent documentary 'Hate To Love: ________', accepting compliments, being the funny person in a group setting, haters, whether or not it's possible to change who you want to be, 'dark mode' being represented on film, & of course... our fandom of pantyhose-with-the-lines-up-the-back-of-the-legs!
