You may have heard the term the Baby Blues.. But beyond just the blues, this following subject, Post Partum Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PPMAD), popularly known as Post Partum Depression, is more than just feelings of sadness. It is a serious mental illness that affects mothers, their partners and their loved ones. A recent Stats Can survey published in summer 2019 showed that almost a quarter of women who gave birth in 2018 reported feelings consistent with postpartum depression or an anxiety disorder. With the recent pandemic, incidences are also on the rise and now is as good as any time to talk about it. In part 1 of this 3 part series, I interview Ms. Rosa Caporicci, a Psychotherapist at the NDG Therapy - Monkland Professional & Medical Centre. She talks about the facts and information on PPMADs, social stigmas about parenthood, and shares her own story.
