  • Episode 182: Biohacking – Super Deuterium-Depleted Light Water with Victor Sagalovsky

What really causes us to age? Let’s talk about deuterium! What is deuterium & how does it slow down our mitochondria? Why is it called the Fountain of Youth?

How does Deuterium affect our cellular/mitochondrial energy. How to we get rid of deuterium in the body and speed up our mitochondrial function? Victor Sagalovsky of Litewater speaks about the real causes of aging, what really slows down our mitochondria & how to deplete deuterium.

    Do not miss these highlights:

05:18 The research about why these people in a part of Siberia had extreme longevity.

    08:07 What is Deuterium?

12:48 When you put in anything that has less deuterium in it, through this process known as hydrogen exchange, you get more energy and you feel lighter on your feet.

14:13 Deuterium is nature’s most natural contaminant.

17:36 How you could reduce the deuterium level in your body.

21:36 We can throw out this concept of aging because we have certain interventions.

24:11 Are there other symptoms that people would notice that they had a deuterium overload in their body?

25:52 To improve the self-healing ability of the body, the term depletion works, because it adds the energy that your body needs to work.

28:00 Saliva was a great test if you wanted to test your metabolic waters. It’s an excellent indicator of your extracellular water.

32:03 How much Super Deuterium-Depleted Light Water should be replaced in your water consumption.

36:08 We’re not hydrated because we drink a lot of water. We’re hydrated when we drink the right water, and when we eat the right foods.

I’m that type of person who never orders take away or buys precooked meals. As I moved to another country to live in my early 20s. I discovered different cultures with different types of cuisines. Also I started to notice that by tasting and trying new food I started to gain weight. This was something new to me and I started to go deeper into the nutrition side. This is where my true passion was born and I end up focusing on. I need it to understand what I need to do to stop my weight gain. And in the last few years my world was shaken when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and as a side effect I started to gain weight, it was hard for me to control it considering I am a nutritionist coach. It took a while to figure out what was working and how I maintained it. So now I’m on the mission to help women with their weight loss who’ve been affected by hypothyroidism.

Debra Muth 0:02Welcome to Let’s Talk Wellness Now, I’m your host, Dr. Deb. This is where we talk about everything wellness, and learn to defy aging, and live our lives on our own terms. Welcome back to Let’s Talk wellness. Now, I’m your host, Dr. Deb and today we’re going to talk about how diet can overcome hypothyroidism. You know, thyroid is such a big problem for many women, men more or sorry, women more than men. And as we age, that problem tends to get worse and worse. And so many of us are looking for a solution to getting off medication. Now, I have been a proponent for many years with my clients to say, if you’ve been on medication for 20, 30, 40 years, unfortunately, the likelihood of you getting off medication is very slim. Does that mean that it can’t happen? It depends really, you know, I after our last episode on thyroid, I had some clients get upset with me that I’ve told them, there’s no way to get off of medication. And here’s the reality. For some people, there’s been so much damage done to the thyroid, that the thyroid just no longer functions. And you’ll know that because you’re coming down on the medication and your TSH starts to rise. And you start to have symptoms, weight gain, water retention, bloating, fatigue, brain fog, things like that. When that occurs, it really does not matter how much diet nutrition supplementation you do, you will always need some amount of thyroid, it may not be as much as you’re used to. Because with a clean diet, we typically need less thyroid. And that’s always a good thing, the smaller amount of any medication that we can get away with the better. But what I want listeners to understand is that when we’re talking about nutrition and lifestyle changes, to heal the thyroid, you still should do these things, whether you’re taking medication or not. I understand the goal is to get off medication, I would love to see everyone be able to do that if possible. But in all honesty, the reality is not every person can get off thyroid medication, again, because there’s just too much damage done to that thyroid, and it doesn’t work anymore. So I may sound kind of crabby about this. But I want people to truly understand what it is we’re talking about. And I don’t want people to be misled, to think that all of these wonderful topics that we’re talking about are going to fix their thyroid problem 100% Because it may not, but it will make the communication from the brain to the thyroid work that much better. You will have better weight loss, you will have better sleep, you will have better cognitive function, you will have better mood. All of these things are things that we want to have in our life, whether we’re on thyroid medication or not, probably the biggest concern that I hear from people is I’m on thyroid medication, but I still don’t feel any better. That is because of all these other things that need to happen along with being on the thyroid medication. Now, one of the other complaints that I’ve heard from my clients about doing these podcasts is why don’t you teach us these things when we’re in with you in an exam room?

Debra Muth 3:54Well, here’s the reality. Ladies and gentlemen, this is why I do these podcasts. If you listen to an hour of this podcast, and us talking about all the lifestyle changes, all the dietary changes all the supplementation that we’re doing, I could talk about that in the exam room with a client and I can share all of that with you. However, in doing that, we don’t get to address your individualized needs and purposes for being in my office, unless you have a two or three hour visit, which most people don’t have time to do. That is why we created let’s talk wellness now, so that we could share this information in a different fashion. Without you having to pay my time to teach you that you get this information for free. You get to consume it multiple times. You get to hear it over and over again as often as you need it. You get to hear other people’s opinions. You get to hear my opinion. You get to hear what we’ve seen work what other people have seen work, and I think it’s a better utilization. for education, yes, we will teach you the main things in your appointment with us. But I can’t spend hours like I get to spend here and serve you the way you want to be served first. So for those of you who are upset with me, that you’re hearing information like this for the first time, again, I apologize. However, there is a reason to the information we discussed with you in your exam. And there’s a reason we put this information out today, for you to consume and hear. And for those of you who are not upset, I appreciate that. And I appreciate all the support you’ve given me, and the encouragement you’ve given me to go forward with creating, let’s talk wellness now and this platform to share knowledge and ideas with you. Because it’s so important for us to be able to share all the different pieces of what we’re doing in health and wellness education. So again, thank you for all your support. Thank you for being there for me. And I hope everyone understands why it is we produce what it is and how we produce that. So without any further delay, I would like to talk to our guests today with Gintare, I think I said her name wrong. And she’ll correct me for sure. But we’re gonna talk about hypothyroidism and how to overcome this. And she is a certified ketogenic wellness and nutrition coach. And her entire life, she’s been interested in nutrition in ways to be healthier, and eating a better diet. And she’s also the type of person that never orders take away or buys pre cooked meals. So this will be an interesting conversation. She has currently moved to another country to live in in her early 20s and discover different cultures, different types of cuisine, and also started to notice that by tasting and trying new foods, she started to have weight gain, does that sound so familiar to so many of us, and she had never suffered from weight issues before. So she started to dig deeper into nutrition and find what was causing the problem for her. And this is where her true passion was born. To focus on healthy eating, and to stop her weight gain. And so many of us can relate to that so many of us are in that pattern of it doesn’t matter what we eat, it doesn’t matter how we exercise, it doesn’t matter what we take, the scale just continues to either go up or not budge at all. And then we get frustrated, we give in, we eat the things that we shouldn’t eat, which creates a lot of inflammation for us. And that inflammatory weight gain can be just as bad as any other weight gain. And I’m here to tell you, I’m right there with you. I’m in the same boat. I’ve never had a weight problem in my life.

I worked with him at standard process many many years ago. And today we’re going to talk about herbs, how to find quality herbs, what to look for, and what kind of herbs you can use on a regular basis to keep yourself healthy. Lee, welcome to the show.

Dr. Lee Cowden 4:34Great to be with you.

Debra Muth 4:37So Dr. Cowden. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Dr. Lee Cowden 4:40Well, I’m a medical doctor, got my medical degree at the University of Texas Houston. Did the internship residency in two fellowships at St. Louis University Hospital group in St. Louis. And practice many years. You but but only one year with allopathic medicine After one year of allopathic medicine, I said, this is not for me, I gotta do something else.

Debra Muth 5:05So, to figure that one out,

Dr. Lee Cowden 5:08yeah, I’d already been studying integrative medicine from 1975 until 1986, when I made that decision. And so I already had experience with using natural medicine on myself, my family, my friends. And so I didn’t feel uncomfortable expanding that to the use with my patients.

Debra Muth 5:31Wonderful. So when you transitioned from allopathic medicine to a more natural approach, did you go into practice for a while? Or did you go right into teaching?

Dr. Lee Cowden 5:42I went into allopathic medicine with a fellow that went through the training institution at the same time, for one year, one year. And we set up a critical care cardiology combined practice. And we were on staff at seven hospitals, and we rounded in 11 intensive care units twice a day, every day, for that year. And we were on call every other week, night and every other weekend. And so at the end of the year, I decided several things that said, if I keep this up, it’ll kill me prematurely. I said, if I keep this up, I will not know my wife nor my children. And, and if I continue to continue this, I’m going to be completely miserable. Because I saw that there was so much better way, you know, this was crisis or crisis intervention medicine, intervening at the very end of the stream, you know, we need to be intervening at the very beginning of the stream.

Debra Muth 6:37Yeah, talk about a way to set up for total burnout with physicians and practitioners, right? I mean, there’s no healthy living in in that type of practice at all. And we wonder why we make mistakes in that type of practice. Because there’s, there’s no time there’s no rest, there’s no nothing for people to even take time to think or refuel their bodies or rest or do any of the things that we need to do to stay healthy ourselves to take care of others.

    Dr. Lee Cowden 7:04Yep. Yeah.

Debra Muth 7:06Unfortunately, today, that’s that type of practice isn’t much different than allopathic medicine, it’s pretty much the same model.

Dr. Lee Cowden 7:14Yeah, in the training institution, they made it illegal for residents to be on call too many hours out of a week. So that’s, that’s a plus. But I mean, there were times in the training institution when I went 36 hours without sleep. And that’s just crazy. Yeah, you you miss you miss things, you make mistakes, you risk the life of the patients that you’re trying to take care of. Yeah, absolutely.

Debra Muth 7:40So when you left allopathic medicine, I mean, you are an amazing doctor, in the herbal world, in teaching, you’ve gone on to teach, I can only assume 1000s of other practitioners in the herbal world. Tell us about that practice that you’ve been doing for quite a long time. I mean, I’ve known you at least 20 years in the standard process world. So you’ve been doing this a very long time teaching and educating people on a natural approach to life and healthy living and lifestyle.

Dr. Lee Cowden 8:11Yeah, I started learning about first western herbals. And that came 76. And I learned about Eastern articles in 1977. And started applying that in my life and in the life of my family and friends. And when I finally decided that I wasn’t going to stay in allopathic medicine, in 1986, and...

  • Episode 177: Epigenetics Can Be Causing Inflammation And Weight Gain with Annie Bush

Can your genes be making you fat? Short answer yes. Your genetic makeup can determine what you need to eat, how much and what type of exercise is best for you.

Genetic makeup can also determine what disease we are predisposed to BUT NOT destined to get. We can change the outcome if we understand epigenetics.

Annie Bush and Dr. Deb share a conversation about biohacking your genes using safe and effective lifestyle changes. But first you must know your genetic make up and then you can hack it.

    Do not miss these highlights:

    • use your genetics to develop that optimal health program for you specifically
    • it is your environment, the foods you eat, the things you drink, the toxins that you’re exposed to, that determines which genes get switched on and which ones stay switched off.
    • Annie’s personal story of how she went from the legal world to health and wellness and to cognitive decline
    • Younger cases of cognitive decline are due to a toxic root case
    • People don’t understand about things like mold and heavy metals. Unless you affirmatively detox that mold out of you, it stays in your body
    • The importance of genetics and how it should just be your blueprint for life.
    • The effect how quick or how slowly metabolizing caffeine will have on a person
    • Difference between 23andMe and 3×4 genetics

Debra Muth 0:02Welcome to Let’s Talk wellness. Now, I’m your host, Dr. Deb. This is where we talk about everything wellness, and learn to defy aging, and live our lives on our own terms.

Debra Muth 0:16Welcome back to Let’s Talk Wellness Now I’m your host, Dr. Deb, and today we’re going to talk about biohacking someone’s DNA to heal things like add anxiety, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, dementia, and so much more. My guest, Annie Bush, is here to talk about the brightest thin protocol and actually using someone’s DNA to heal the body to create that blueprint blueprint for lifestyle changes and choices, exercise, nutrition, sleep patterns, you name it, we can use your genetics to develop that optimal health program for you specifically, she’s also going to chat with us about using photo immune modulation to stimulate the production of one’s own stem cells to heal the body. Now, interestingly enough, Annie has not always been in health care. for over 10 years, she worked as a federal and state prosecutor. And she changed her focus to health and wellness education, learning how to connect the physical body with the spiritual mind. And I’m interested to hear all about how that actually happened. One of Annie’s mantras over the last decade has been, it’s hard to have a clear thought with a toxic body. So let’s learn how the body becomes toxic. Let’s ask Annie, how do we get to a clean body so we’re not toxic anymore? And then last, but not least, how do we take those genetics and really utilize them for an individualized approach to help heal not just your brain, but your mind, body and spirit all together as one?

Debra Muth 2:09Have you seen 20+ medical doctors only to be told your symptoms are in your head? Or you need an antidepressant? We understand your frustrations? Or check us out at our website at Serenityhealthcarecenter.com.

Debra Muth 3:19Welcome back to Let’s Talk wellness. Now I have Annie Bush with me today. And I’m excited to talk to her all about genetics and Dr. Bredesen, Dr. Ayman protocols, and how are we going to biohack our way into being healthier longer, you know, avoiding those neurological things. But if we also have anxiety, ATD, ADHD, some of those kinds of things, this technology and this protocol can also work for those types of illnesses as well. So Annie, welcome back to the show.

Annie Bush 3:56Well, thank you, Dr. Deb, I’m so happy to be here. And you know, so much ground to cover, but eloquently it’s all connected.

Debra Muth 4:04It is, it’s so amazing. When I started studying genetics, about 15 years ago, I was blown away how people could have such different genetics, even within families, right, like parent, I’ll tell a story in a little bit. But you know, even parents and kids can be so different and present so differently. Even if they have similar patterns. Everybody seems to present a little bit differently with that.

Annie Bush 4:29And that has to do with their epigenetics because it is your environment, the foods you eat, the things you drink, the toxins that you’re exposed to, that determines which ones those genes get switched on and which ones stay switched off.

Debra Muth 4:47It’s so amazing, and we don’t think about it that way at all. Any tell us a little bit about yourself before we dig into the nitty gritty of genetics.

Annie Bush 4:57Well, by the time you get to be about our age, you’ve been through a few career changes, as if you were to you know what I always say every hole every career you’ve had, just adds to your skill set. And I started out in a legal path, I was a journalism major in college, went straight into being a legal clerk, that a paralegal, and then I ultimately became a prosecutor from the Department of Interior in the National Park Service. So I went into a legal track, went to law school. And the one thing that law school teaches you is how to read a lot of information, remember a lot of information and then how to apply it. So with that skill set, and then I became an assistant state attorney here in the state of Florida for six years. And then the term came in most of us in the wealth, health and wellness space. You know, we get here through either our personal journey, that something happened or through family members, and it was my parents. They both got cancer first, my dad got cancer, and then he passed and then my mom got cancer. And I moved in with her and I was taking her to her chemo treatments. And I saw how the traditional medical industry was treating her or not, yeah. What what was happening is I would take her over to her chemo, which for anybody who has ever never experienced that she basically went to go to a hospital setting, they have Lazy Boy chairs, and they hook you up on these IVs these PICC lines well, right next to where they had her seated. He had cookies and candy and cupcakes and all this sugar. And I didn’t know a lot then. But I knew that sugar fed cancer. So I went from being really confused as to why they’re feeding reverse chemo to kill the cancer giving her sugar at the same time to being really angry. And then I decided, okay, I wanted to do something about it. And that’s when I made the switch from being an illegal career to in health and wellness, I became a personal trainer, a health coach. And then I saw my personal training clients, with their parents suffering from cognitive decline, and how they were being treated or not treated by the traditional medical industry at all, you know, that’s what I made that turn into being really concentrating on cognitive decline and how that happens and what we can do to stop it and reverse it.

Debra Muth 7:43Such a big problem right now. I mean, it’s not just your 70 and 80 year olds that are having issues with cognitive decline. It’s our 30 and 40 year olds, now I see it every day ...

3:28Welcome to Let’s Talk Wellness Now I’m your host, Dr. Deb and I have Chris Burres with me today. Today we’re going to have a little bit different podcasts because normally Chris is going to tell us all about his stuff. And that’s what we’re going to talk about. But today we’re going to talk about Chris’s wonderful product and my experience with this product. And just so you guys know, he has no idea what I’m about to say about his product. We didn’t even talk about this yet. So this will be exciting for everybody. Welcome to the show, Chris.

3:53Dr. Deb, thank you so much for having me. People are probably already intrigued already. What I’m going to say first is go back and listen to the first podcast. There’s some really good information. I’ll kind of summarize that real briefly. So you know, if you don’t have time, because we know we’re all very busy these days, Dr. Deb and I were talking about how busy we are and how many clones we need, give or take. I think the number is 10 Give or take. So go back and listen to the podcast. But we’re going to be talking about a molecule and if you’re watching I’m holding up a model of the molecule. And if you’re just listening imagine a soccer ball where the lines on the soccer ball represent the bonds between the carbon atoms. So we have a spherical molecule of 60 carbon atoms. It was discovered in 1985. The scientists who discovered it won the Nobel Prize in 1996. And they actually for various reasons thought it wouldn’t be toxic. They put it in a toxicity study, and the results of that study were published in 2012. Instead of this molecule being toxic the test subjects they gave it to in this case it was Wistar rats lived 90 percent longer than the control groups have the single longest longevity experimental result in human history. And and that kind of was the pivot point for my business partner I to change from being carbon nanomaterials scientists and and serving this the carbon nanomaterials scientific community, really for 31 years now. That pivot point, shoved us in the direction of getting into the supplement industry. And it really was an industry if you go back and listen to the the first podcast, you can hear that it was kind of painful for us to get into it. We didn’t. We tried very hard not to get into the supplement industry.

5:38I can understand why. The regulations, the cost, the everything, it’s not an easy feat. So you guys got into the supplement industry you created this my vital see, and in our in our last podcast. So again, if you guys have not listened to go back and listen, but we’ll talk about this a little bit. You actually started taking this product yourself sharing it with family and friends and realizing there was some unique experiences?

6:04Yes, yeah. Well into kind of cover like as soon as you hear a 90% extension of life, some people’s first response is like, well, well, how might this be working? Right. And the current medical community looks at aging as an oxidative and an inflammation process, right. And so it’s interesting that our product ticks both of those boxes, and I have to be very careful. The first one is the antioxidant. There’s peer reviewed published papers out there that say 125 times more powerful than vitamin C, there’s one ad hoc study on the internet that says 172 times more powerful than vitamin C. And I actually want to talk about the theories that we’ve been working in, there’s some research that’s kind of supports it about it not, not exactly being an antioxidant. But let me come back to that. If you look at inflammation, so that’s the other kind of indicator or cause of aging, not indicator, but cause. What we can say is that our product is good with inflammation, at least as it relates to exercise inflammation, what the FDA restricts us from saying is talking about any other types of inflammation in the body. And we can say that it’s, it really does fit perfectly in the anti inflammatory diet. That’s a diet known, what about the blue zone people take, that is their diet, the diet. And these people tend to have reduce incidences of stroke reduces cause of heart attacks, and actually tend to live longer. So we’ve got that. Now let’s circle back to the antioxidant. And we’re working on on a phrase, boss, it’s kind of like Ess 60 is the boss. And it’s just B O S, and that’s buffer oxidative stress. So imagine if you’re in a cell, and the body is one of the body’s jobs is to provide antioxidants, because there’s always this process of creating ATP in the c...

  • Episode 175: Food As Medicine For Our Brain & Mental Health, The Most Overlooked Cause & Solution To Anxiety & Depression – The Physiological Root Causes with Christine Coen

Can food affect anxiety and depression?

Food is the building block for neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters in the brain have a direct effect on our memory, mood, and anxiety levels. When certain neurotransmitters are deficient the symptoms of anxiety and depression increase. By adjusting your diet and taking in foods that heal our bodies we can combat these symptoms.

    Do not miss these highlights:

07:00 When you’re in that state of chronic stress, dieting, under-eating, and exercising more intensely, can add more stress onto your system, keeping you in a perpetual state of that chronic stress.

10:02 Nutrition and movement are a huge foundational part of our mental health. But the perspective shift is everything, meaning you take the focus off of weight loss, you take the focus off of working out to gain muscle and look fit, and instead use it to heal.

11:44 All of those things that we put in our body that creates inflammation and ultimately more physical stress.

14:46 All these ingredients in every single place you look have a toxin or chemicals. Yes, the effects might not happen overnight, but these are slow decades or over a decade of breakdowns on your body.

18:40 Helping people with their mental health through nutrition and other holistic methods.

21:33 How does dopamine being off affect our desire to want to eat and then directly affect our mood?

24:23 If we’re not eating enough protein, that can be a huge detriment to building these neurotransmitters.

27:25 Start to do those very simple somatic practices to start to shift the nervous system out of that fight or flight or freeze mode, which is where we experience anxiety, or depression, and get back into the safety mode or the parasympathetic nervous system.

31:45 Start to trust yourself, start to trust your body, start to trust yourself to be able to handle when things get a little bit rocky or low.

32:52 Focusing on protein, vegetables, healthy fats and making small shifts to just eat primarily whole foods, foods that aren’t processed or minimally processed, are going to be really helpful.

35:53 The brain has the ability to grow and change throughout our lives. Neuroplasticity, foods, as well as exercise help increase our production of BDNF, which is like miracle growth for the brain.
