Since March is Women's History Month, this is part 2 of our miniseries on women's issues. In this part, the subject up for debate is gender inequality. Does gender inequality still exist today?

When boys and young men were asked to demonstrate running like a girl, throw like a girl, and fight like a girl, their interpretations were silly and ridiculous. Even when young women were asked the same thing, they demonstrated the same type of silly, ridiculous behavior. However, when young girls were asked, they ran normally, threw normally, and fought normally. They didn't view the phrase "like a girl" as a derogatory statement. Unfortunately, around the time girls reach puberty, their self-confidence plummets and accept the belief that they are inferior. This proves that gender inequality still exists today.

Men are stereotyped also. Their role is to be the financial provider. The men are suppose to be the primary disciplinarian of the children. Also, it is the responsibility of men to take care of any repairs around the home.

Are these stereotypes encouraging gender inequality? That point can be heavily debated. It would have to depend on each individual situation. Perhaps one family is better suited having the woman being the breadwinner, while the man takes the role of homemaker. Other situations, it might be best for the man to be the provider while the woman manages the household. But with many women working full time jobs these days, how can the duties of homemaker fall solely upon them?

Gender inequality is a learned behavior. According to many scientific studies, children learn these gender stereotypes from adults. These learned, traditional gender roles are passed from one generation to the next. The key to stopping this vicious cycle is this pattern. As you will learn, it is possible to end gender inequality.

One example would be the colors pink and blue. In the early 1900's, pink was considered to be a "boy color." It was a boy color because pink was a strong color suitable for boys. Blue was accepted as being a "girl color." The reason blue was considered a girl's color was because it was more delicate, dainty, and prettier. But before this color assignment, babies of both sexes wore white dresses until the age of six because the dresses could be bleached.

Another example of shifting gender roles would be cheerleading. Cheerleading began as a boys only sport. It was thought that cheerleading was too masculine for women because it would cause them to develop powerful, unladylike voices. Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan were all cheerleaders. It wasn't until the 1930's that women entered cheerleading and dominated the sport by the 1960's.

These are just a few examples of how gender roles can change. Gender doesn't have to define us.

March 8th 2015 marked International Women's Day. It is celebrated every year on the same date. So what is the purpose of International Women's Day? Generally speaking, it is a celebration and an appreciation for women's economic, political, and social achievements.

Women's History Month is celebrated throughout the month of March. It highlights the contributions of women throughout history. In honor of Women's History Month, we are going to be discussing many issues that still face women today in a miniseries. Sara wrote an article giving 5 reasons why feminists can't stop fighting for equality. We will cover each point.

In regards to sex, women are held to a different standard than men. While men are free to engage in sex with multiple partners, women who engage in the same behavior are looked down upon. It's not only men that are guilty of slut shaming. Both men and women engage in slut shaming. Unfortunately, it's a lose-lose situation. If a woman projects a sexy image, she's viewed as a slut. If a woman projects a conservative or professional image, she's perceived as either being an irrelevant prude or a lesbian.

The media likes to engage in slut shaming. One example would include Kim Kardashian and how the media portrays her in a negative light because of her perceived sexuality. Another example would be Miley Cyrus' performance at the 2013 VMA Awards. In her performance, Miley Cyrus twerked up against Robin Thicke. This caused a slut shaming uproar in the media. Miley Cyrus was criticized for her clothing and twerking while nothing was really said at all about Robin Thicke's involvement.

The entertainment industry needs to step up their game to end slut shaming. More powerful and important women characters need to portrayed on the big and small screen. The stereotypical weak, pathetic, or slutty character needs to become the minority instead of the majority.

15 year old teen, Felicia Garcia, committed suicide because of slut shaming. She had sex with four football players and became the target of slut shaming. Felicia was teased, harassed, and constantly called a slut. She ended her life by jumping in front of a subway train. Two days before killing herself, Felicia Garcia tweeted, "I can't, I'm done, I give up."

The sexual double standard needs to end. The practice of slut shaming needs to stop in order for women to truly achieve equality.

There's a growing problem that affects a majority of people. This problem is bad neighbors. There are a few things people want to know: how to deal with bad neighbors and, in some cases, how to get rid of bad neighbors. Hopefully, these questions will be answered here but for the full experience, listen to the podcast episode for a more in-depth approach.

Think about it. If your only contact with your neighbor is via a dispute, this will only encourage that neighbor to continue or escalate the annoying behavior. Establishing a good relationship with your neighbors could most likely prevent them from turning into bad neighbors.

The determination of whether or not you will create bad neighbors is how you handle the situation. If your approach is to come out with guns blazing because your neighbor didn't pick up after his dog, then his/her reaction might be equally aggressive. Using a calm and calculated method to approach your neighbor can defuse any potential problems.

Some people are just plain unreasonable. So using the psychological warfare described in the Psychology Today article just might not work out.

If you're a tenant, you can easily decide to not renew your lease. However, if you purchased your home, do you put it up for sale in order to escape your bad neighbors? You might think it would be an easier decision for renters but there are many other factors to consider:

Do you have children and will they have to change schools?

You shouldn't have to move just to escape bad neighbors. Imagine the inconvenience involved. Moving should be the last resort in dealing with bad neighbors. Sometimes moving can result in a chaotic situation. Just ask Jerry Rice and Janice Ruhter.

Kathy Rowe initially sent over $1,000 worth of magazine subscriptions to the home of Jerry Rice and Janice Ruhter. Next, the married, female neighbors of the couple received provocative Valentine's Day cards. All of which were shown to be sent from Jerry Rice. In actuality, they were sent by Kathy Rowe.

The most heinous act of terror Kathy Rowe committed were the series of rape fantasy Craigslist ads. Kathy Rowe posted ads on Craigslist, pretending to be Janice Ruhter. The ads detailed Janice's rape fantasy. The ads stated that Janice Ruhter wanted men to come into the house and force themselves upon her, even if she said no. A couple men did show up but luckily the faux fantasy was not fulfilled.

Kathy Rowe, winner of '50 Best Moms of San Diego', was caught by police. She accepted a plea bargain deal. Kathy Rowe received one year of electronic surveillance and 5 years of probation. As you can see here, moving to avoid your bad neighbors doesn't always work out.

It's one thing to fight and argue, but fighting on the internet? When you actually think about it, arguing on the internet seems absurd. Yes, the whole point for arguing is to win or sway others to your point of view. Can you really win an argument through the internet?

What are internet fights? The Urban Dictionary defines internet argument as "this is something that idiots do online when they are bored and/or have no friends."

Those that participate in internet fights are most often labeled as trolls. If you utilize social media or sites with a commenting system, like YouTube, you've encountered a troll at some point. Trolls deliberately provoke others into an emotional response. Trolls just love to start internet fights.

Trolls aren't the only ones who love to argue on the internet. Celebrities have internet fights all the time. Celebrity internet fights are usually entertaining to the rest of society. When average people argue on the internet, they're trolls but when celebrities have internet fights, it's called entertainment. Let's take a look at some celebrity arguments that took place on the internet.

Khloe Kardashian took to Twitter to defend her younger sister. According to Khloe, Amber Rose is nothing but a stripper while Kylie Jenner has a career. What career does Kylie Jenner actually have?

Amber Rose had to respond, via Twitter. She pointed out how Khloe referred to her as a stripper yet her sister Kim has a sex tape. Amber Rose also hinted that Khloe Kardashian's real father was O.J. Simpson.

Kanye West just couldn't keep away from the action. In an interview, Kanye West had to go on record as saying Kim Kardashian was so grossed out that he dated Amber that he had to take 30 showers before getting with Kim. In the same interview, Kanye said good for Tyga to get it in early. Basically, Kanye is admitting to the fact that there is a relationship between the 25 year old Tyga and 17 year old Kylie Jenner. Possibly confirms the two having sexual relations also.

Amber Rose couldn't stay silent after Kanye West made the 30 showers comment. She decided to continue the internet fight on Twitter by taking a jab at Kanye and Kim Kardashian.

A back and forth ensued on Twitter between the two female rappers. This is just another petty celebrity argument on the internet for all to see.

In a followup to the topic covered in last week's podcast episode, which was revenge porn, a good online reputation is extremely important these days. Everything you say and do online can have an impact on your online reputation. Employers, friends, first dates, etc. are using the internet to find out more about you. Still not convinced? Well, here are some interesting facts why a good online reputation is important.

78% of job recruiters check search engines to find out more about potential employees.

These statistics prove that hiring managers base their decision upon your online reputation. The internet is becoming a useful tool for employers. The story of the Texas teenager who got fired for a tweet before starting her job is a perfect example.

24 hours before the teenager was to start her new job, she complained about it on Twitter. The Texas teenager tweeted, "Ew I start this f*** a*** job tomorrow." The store owner saw her tweet and responded on Twitter. He replied, "No... you don't start the FA job... I just fired you!" Not that this was exactly professional on the store owner's part but employers do use social media.

Google your name often to see what comes up. As in the case of my friend's wife, multiple sites containing revenge porn popped up when searching her name. This is not the first impression you would want to give to anyone. Make sure you write down any questionable search results.

Don't post or publish anything questionable or stupid. This should be obvious and not even mentioned here. Unfortunately, people just post/publish anything and everything these days. If you're young, it's hard to think that what you post now will have an impact on your future online reputation. The best and most simplistic advice is definitely do not post or publish anything stupid.

Use secure passwords so it'll be unlikely for anyone to login to your accounts and post horrible things. Another obvious and simple tip. It might be a hassle having different, complicated passwords, but the peace of mind should be the payoff. Hackers are gaining access to people's accounts all the time but they aren't the ones you should be most concerned with. Friends or ex-lovers can do a lot of damage to your online reputation. It would be easy for them to gain access to your accounts because of how well they know you. They could very well know the answers to your security questions too.

If you find something you don't like, ask to have it removed. In order to protect your online reputation, get anything negative removed. Such as the case as my friend's wife, she needs to begin the long process of having all the revenge porn photos of her removed. Even negative mentions on social media can have an impact on your online reputation. Perhaps a friend is mentioning your name on Facebook for joining him in illegal behavior. In order to protect your online reputation, things with a negative impact need to be removed.

After googling people's names, Ed discovered a suspicious link. After clicking on the link, he discovered a Tumblr containing several nude pictures of his friend's wife. This particular Tumblr was not created by her and there were hundreds of re-posts of these tasteless photos. Ed found that his friend's wife had been a victim of revenge porn.

Who is doing the sharing and what purpose does it serve? The people who are sharing revenge porn are usually scorned ex-lovers. They could also be hackers. They could even be friends. The main purpose of revenge porn is to publicly shame, embarrass, and humiliate the people contained within the images.

Revenge porn can ruin a person's life. It harms victims mentally and emotionally. Victims can be harassed and even fired from their jobs. Some victims were so devastated that even committed suicide.

There's a website called End Revenge Porn. According to their mission statement, they want to "become a one-stop shop for everyone that is involved in the war against revenge porn." Not only do they want to provide emotional support and resources to the victims of revenge porn, but they also want to advocate for laws against revenge porn.

In the United States, only 13 states have laws against revenge porn. Most of these state laws aren't even specifically for revenge porn. In the case of New Jersey, for example, a cyberbullying law has been used to target perpetrators of revenge porn. California, on the other hand, has taken steps to outlaw revenge porn.

People love their pets. Most pet owners feel as if their pet is a part of the family. In the United States alone, almost 75% of the population have some type of animal as a pet. With these statistics, why would a company risk becoming a target for pet owners?

The GoDaddy commercial, titled "Journey Home", featured a cute puppy falling out the back of a pickup truck. The puppy, named Buddy, made its way back home. The pet owners were overjoyed. Not because of sentimental reasons, but because they just sold Buddy via a website they made with GoDaddy.

The couple loves Archie. They just want the bear to live out his final years with them. The state of Ohio is saying the couple does not have the proper permit to keep the bear and a permit cannot be issued to them. A petition to support the couple and Archie the bear has been started.

Bart was run over by a car and appeared lifeless. The pet owner was too emotional to bury his beloved cat so he had a friend do it for him. Bart appeared dead to the owner's friend, so he buried him. The pet owner, Ellis Hutson, was shocked when Bart showed up back at his house 5 days later. Thus, the story of 'zombie cat' was born.

The pet owner couldn't afford to have Zombie Cat treated so he reached out to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. They were able to get Bart the necessary surgeries. Bart had an eye removed and his jaw repaired.

Zombie Cat will not be returned to the pet owner, according to the Tampa Bay Humane Center. They are suspicious of the circumstances on how Bart came to be buried and rise from the grave. A custody battle will probably ensue since Zombie Cat might rival the popularity and financial success of Grumpy Cat.

What exactly is bad parenting? Who actually decides whether or not someone is a bad parent? Nowadays, almost everyone is a judge and has an opinion on how you should raise your child. Here are some bad parenting examples. But are they really? Form your own opinion if these stories are cases of bad parenting.

A South Carolina mother was arrested for leaving her 9 year old daughter alone to play in a park. Debra Harrell let her daughter play at a nearby park while she was at work. She was arrested for not supervising her kid. The mother spent time in jail and her 9 year old daughter was placed in foster care for 17 days. Debra Harrell can still receive 10 years in prison if convicted of felony child neglect.

In the case of the Maryland parents, Maryland law prohibits children under the age of 8 from being left unattended in a vehicle or in a dwelling. However, these two children were walking home from a park. Maryland law makes no reference to the outdoors.

What about the South Carolina mother? Do the laws in her state classify bad parenting? South Carolina law does criminalize leaving a child at unreasonable risk of harm affecting the child's life or safety. The law does not specify whether a child can be left alone without supervision.

Both these cases leave it up to the discretion of prosecutors, police, and child protective services. This doesn't seem sensible in the eyes of a parent. Their ideals on how you raise your children may not mirror your own.

The philosophy behind the Free Range Kids movement is that children need to be raised to be self-reliant. Those who don't raise their kids in this way are "helicopter" parents. Helicopter parents believe their child is so vulnerable that they have to hover over the child like a helicopter, ready to swoop in if anything remotely bad happens. Is the Free Range Kids movement right or just another case of bad parenting?

The food service industry is a tough field to work in. Generally, if you're a waiter, waitress, or even a pizza delivery guy, you will experience some form of mistreatment at some point. This point was emphasized in a recent video that went viral. We talk about this story and how poorly the people in the food service industry are treated.

F&R Auto Sales' tech or IT guy talked down to the pizza delivery man like he was beneath him. He also threatened to further humiliate Jarrid by releasing the security footage, which he ended up doing. A saleswoman told Jarrid to "get out the door before I put my foot up your ass." Then proceed to make an obscene "jerking off" gesture. Once the pizza delivery guy left, another worker started getting excited. He started yelling for someone to "get his manager and owner on the phone. I want him fired."

The general manager for F&R Auto Sales did an interview on FUN107. According to the manager, the saleswoman that threatened to use her foot inappropriately has been fired. The other employees are facing disciplinary punishment. They're very sorry for what happened and the owner promises to offer Jarrid Tansey a cash donation.

Freedom of speech and freedom of expression is under attack by terrorists. Charlie Hebdo is just the latest victim by terrorists trying to dictate how people live their lives. Recently, the movie The Interview caused outrage and sparked not only terrorist threats but also terrorist cyber attacks. Now, the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, experienced a deadly terrorist attack. Two gunmen went into their Paris headquarters and opened fire. They killed 12 people and injured 11.

This wasn't the first time that Charlie Hebdo came under attack. Back in 2011, their office was fire-bombed and their website was hacked. Why is this satirical magazine coming under attack? These violent outbursts are most likely in response to the magazine publishing cartoon caricatures of the Prophet Muhammed.

Ed and Sara discuss this recent attack on free speech. They also discuss the public response. 'Je Suis Charlie', which means 'I am Charlie', has become one of the most popular hashtags in Twitter history and this simple phrase is becoming a symbol for freedom of speech. Not all of the responses have been positive. Warning have been made for Charlie Hebdo not to publish any more drawings of the Prophet Muhammed. Ed and Sara talk about this and religion in general.

Larry Tomczak is a christian author and evangelist. In a recent post, he slams the media and Hollywood for advocating the gay lifestyle in the United States. Ed and Sara discuss some of the claims he made in his post.
