Example of Food Service Industry Mistreatment
A viral video shows just how cruel people can be. A Massachusetts pizza delivery guy, Jarrid Tansey, was harassed by car dealership workers over a $7 tip. This poor man had delivered about $42 worth of pizza and food to F&R Auto Sales. The used car dealership staff gave Jarrid two $20 bills and two $5 bills. The staff did not ask him for change so he assumed it was his tip. However, this wasn't the case. An employee of the dealership called the Pizzeria and demanded that Jarrid return the $7 change.
Let The Pizza Delivery Abuse Begin
Jarrid Tansey should receive some sort of award from the food service industry for the patience he displayed. Jarrid returned to the used car dealership during his break time. This is the point where the viral video starts. The dealership employees berate and harass Jarrid Tansey over the measly $7 "tip." The entire time, Jarrid remained calm, cool, and collected.
F&R Auto Sales' tech or IT guy talked down to the pizza delivery man like he was beneath him. He also threatened to further humiliate Jarrid by releasing the security footage, which he ended up doing. A saleswoman told Jarrid to "get out the door before I put my foot up your ass." Then proceed to make an obscene "jerking off" gesture. Once the pizza delivery guy left, another worker started getting excited. He started yelling for someone to "get his manager and owner on the phone. I want him fired."
Food Service Industry Mistreatment Gone Viral
The IT employee at the used car dealership actually did upload the security footage to YouTube under the dealership's YouTube account. Words cannot accurately describe just how uncouth the F&R Auto Sales employees were. It's surprising how these employees actually believed the pizza delivery man would look foolish, not them. The video wasn't live for long but luckily it ended up on many different sites and went viral.
The Harsh Reality
Food service industry workers have it tough. They are definitely under appreciated. Whether it's waiters, waitresses, or pizza delivery people, tips are how they survive. These people aren't slaves or subhumans. Many people have had some form of job in the food service industry and know just how tough it is. Because of this, a happy ending for pizza delivery man, Jarrid Tansey, was possible.
Losing A $7 Tip To Earning Over $31k
A former waitress living in Chicago, Amanda Roger, saw this video and decided to start a fundraising campaign for Jarrid Tansey on GoFundMe. Within 6 days, over $31,000 was raised. Ironically, many of the donations were in the amount of $7. The campaign was ended at the request of Jarrid. He said he and his family were very thankful for all the support and everyone's kindness.
Backlash At F&R Auto Sales
After this outrageous video went viral, F&R Auto Sales' Yelp page received hundreds of negative reviews, which have since been removed for the most part. They received many angry phone calls, as well as prank phone calls. Overall, this incident was bad publicity.
The general manager for F&R Auto Sales did an interview on FUN107. According to the manager, the saleswoman that threatened to use her foot inappropriately has been fired. The other employees are facing disciplinary punishment. They're very sorry for what happened and the owner promises to offer Jarrid Tansey a cash donation.
