TW - Self harm
Self-harm is often used as a way to respond to and manage emotional pain, overwhelming feelings or distress. For the most part, people self-harm without wanting to die but sometimes they may have suicidal intentions. Some people find that the physical pain of self-harm helps provide temporary relief from the emotional pain. In this way, self-harm can be a coping strategy used by individuals to help them continue to live.
If you use self harm as a coping mechanism, have a loved who self harms or want to learn more about why people do this please listen to this podcast. In this episode I unpack my journey with self harm, why I did it in the past, how to find healthier coping mechanisms and how to help a loved one who is struggling.
If you are struggling or having bad thoughts please contact lifeline on 13 11 14.

Ok that heading may be a little dramatic but in this episode we unpack opinions and if there is a responsibility to self reflect on those opinions. Where did they come from? Are they rooted in misogyny, hate, toxicity or love? Are we entitled to an opinion but not entitled to share? Who decides the line? We chat about how "well that's just my opinion" is very problematic and is a fallacy to win debates or to put discussions to bed unfairly. Unpacking the belief that we should respect "well that's just my opinion", should we? Listen to find out Tylers opinion!
In this episode we unpack how only complimenting women on their physical features is a product of women being viewed as objects and how this is a product of the patriarchy. We discuss how this adds to the narrative that women are nothing more than their bodies and how this perpetuates the idea that their weight, physical appearance and looks are directly linked to their worth. What a cycle! With a big F**k you to the patriarchy we unpack how we can start to slowly change this! What is a suitable compliment? How do you tell a girl you think she is cool with out being a creep? Listen to find out!
Sooooo in this episode I unpack my journey with Lithium and if its helping my mental health. The side effects I've had, how its improving my clarity and coming off a manic episode. I chat about my spiritual journey and if that's helping my bipolar, the correlation between spirituality and mental health and go down the rabbit hole of "Am I happy, manic, stable or woke"!
In this episode Tyler Unpacks language and how it can reflect and add to misogyny in our society. Tyler received an apology from a follower who insisted to continually call her cute whilst apologising, is this demoralising or should we just get over it? Is it a compliment or a reflection of a much bigger problem. She unpacks the power imbalance and what to say in a situation where a man is trying to speak over you. How correcting men when their language and actions are wrong takes a lot of guts but will also help pave the way for bigger change! Plus Tyler unpacks why once again Scomo failed once again!
In this episode we unpack what its like having a manic episode. The craziness of experiencing mania, the consequences, what it feels like, being in a mixed state and all of the other good stuff. Mania is a scary place to be but it can be even scarier to give up. I talk about my struggles with becoming stable and "giving up" the euphoric feeling of mania and how I am coming to terms with that. I also talk about some of the wild times I have had during manic episodes and how that all ended with me being hospitalised. TW : suicide and substance abuse.
Unpacking my 6 favourite pieces of advice I've ever been given! Chatting about body image, confidence, business and getting over a breakup!
