Stepping into my 30th year of life, I am FULL of introspection + reflections on each of the things that brought me to where I am today (which if you're listening in real time, is in Barcelona celebrating my birthday 🎉). Growing up, I used to believe that when you turned thirty, something magical would happen. So far, the magic I've found is in the wisdom + insight that I have worked so hard to achieve in my life up to this point.

Growing up in small-town Iowa, being raised alongside my twin brother by a single mom, only ever experiencing an impoverished life, the ONLY thing I wanted was to get the fuck out. I became enraptured by the "hustle culture" by the time I was 16 and working my first commission-based job. I may not have realized it at the time, but I had already taken my first steps out. By that I mean that the FIRST step to getting out of whatever situation you are in is to truly believe in yourself - you need to understand that you have choices and you must become grounded + certain in the ones you make in order to succeed.

The life I have now is the one I CHOSE and continue to choose every single day. I am proud of the life I have made for myself and all the freedoms that come with it; I am proud of the business I've built from the ground up; I am PROUD of the choice I make that will keep growing my life in the direction of my dreams and I want the same thing for you. This special episode isn't just about turning 30 and what that means to me -- it's about living outside the mold of what you think something is supposed to look like and doing things that make you uncomfortable.

If we're being honest with ourselves, you've probably spent most of your life hearing about dieting + working out. Taking little bits of poor diet information from magazines, influencers, or even your parents: let's just be honest that it isn't getting you anywhere. In fact, you've been sleepwalking through life to the point of being disgusted with your lifestyle. Unfortunately, generalized band-aids aren't working. Nutrition isn't just "slash + burn your calories" or going into a deficit without safely evaluating where you're currently at.
