Jen Kober is originally from Lake Charles, LA, and has energetically bounded onto the national stage bringing crowds to their feet with her original blend of stand-up, story telling, and improvised rock-n-roll comedy. Her hard-hitting hour is phenomenally funny as Kober commands the stage and dares you not to laugh.

Jen was the 2017 Winner of NPR's Snap Judgement Comedic Performance of the Year for her Girl Scout Cookie Caper story which went viral upon its release earlier that year. Kober received the 2018 Comedic Performance of the Year for her story titled Nana Vs. OJ.   Jen appeared on Netflix in 2019 as she joined the cast of two of its original shows. Including RuPaul's sitcom AJ & The Queen and Dead to Me. Jen had audiences rolling in the aisles on The Righteous Gemstones on HBO, played a no-nonsense detective in The Purge on USA Network, and was a wacky science teacher in Diary Of A Future President on Disney+   In 2021 Jen 's momentum continues with a role on Showtime's Black Monday with Regina Hall and Don Cheadle, and a recurring part on Apple TV's new queer sitcom, The Browns. Jen is also featured in Audible's Pride Special, Owning It.

Grace C. Lopez is the Executive Director of Aqua Foundation for Women. Ms. Lopez joined the board of directors in 2018 and shortly thereafter was appointed board chair before becoming the executive director in January 2020. Ms. Lopez’s background in the legal industry has led her to founding the proprietary consulting agency iManage Law Firms, LLC, advising law firms on best practices for their operations. She has held upper management level positions at a number of international and national firms. Ms. Lopez believes in mentoring future leaders, serving as an Adjunct Professor at the Florida International University College of Law where she teaches a course in Law Firm Management. She formerly taught at Miami-Dade Community College (MDCC).

LezPod | Scott Galvin, Executive Director of Safe Schools South Florida | Hosted by Alex Friedlander 

Scott Galvin is the Executive Director of Safe Schools South Florida, a non-profit focusing on providing safe space for LGBTQ youth. He is also a member of the North Miami City Council.

First elected in 1999, Galvin is one of the longest-serving openly LGBTQ legislators in the state of Florida.  

HIV awareness is an important cause for Scott so he serves on the board of directors for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a global nonprofit organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to more than 2 million people in over 40 countries. 

Galvin volunteers with the Florida LGBTQ Democratic Caucus to network other openly gay elected officials from Tallahassee to Orlando to Key West.

Lexi Goza is a lesbian business owner in downtown Miami.  She opened her State Farm Insurance agency in October of 2019, which she has successfully certified as an LGBTBE by the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Lexi Goza State Farm is a member of the Miami Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and prides itself on serving all people to help them manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams.

Lexi has been a fierce supporter and advocate for the LGBTQ community for many years. She started her advocacy in Brevard County, where she raised her two children. Lexi was the Founder and President of PFLAG-Melbourne/Space Coast, where she assisted with the formation of “Rainbow Youth of Brevard,” and successfully lobbied the Brevard County School Board to add sexual orientation and gender identity to their non-discrimination policies for both students and employees. 

Lexi was the President of Space Coast Pride, where she accomplished the community goal of moving the festival to the centralized location of the Eau Gallie Arts District, expanding the annual event to multiple days with events like the parade and a 5K race and making the event free for all to attend.

Welcome to LezPod!  You are here, my friends, because you believe in LGBTQ community and the importance of sharing our individuals stories to help impact one another. 

Our goal with the show is to introduce you to people and ideas that are going to motivate you to pursue your dreams and empower you to believe in yourself.  

My name is Alexandria Friedlander and I’m here to introduce you to remarkable people who have helped shift the world we live in today. 

On today's episode, we introduce you to Jen Boronico!  Jen is a renaissance woman, who is known as the businesswoman, who created Boca Tanning; she is a part time rock-star, (she is the lead guitarist in one of the top cover bands in town); and a former fighter and TV fight broadcaster/commentator.  

Jen is the proud founder and franchisor of the Nationally Recognized Boca Tanning Clubs, she had a vision to create something unique, not just a tanning salon, but more of a club, a spa, complete with techno music and high energy.   She opened the first store in 2002, creating a business that has been in the top 2% grossing salons in the country.   Personally, she owns or operates 4 of them, the rest are franchisees of hers.  Boca Tanning began as a dream 15 years ago and she turned it into a life, a lifestyle.  She had the vision to create an empire, and she has.  A proud, devoted mom to a beautiful 17-year-old daughter, successful businesswoman by day and at night, a rock and roller.  Jen is one of the leading female guitarists in Florida. She is most noted for her energy and passion which flows from her veins as she performs. She is truly a unique showman. “Fans are always shocked to see a female attack a guitar with such intensity”. She has been performing with her band Pandia for over a decade.  Founder and CEO of Boca Tanning: Made Boca Tanning a National Franchise with over 20 locations in 4 states.  Created branding to become the most recognizable name in the industry for 19 years in S Fl.  Former Partner with Mike “The Situation” of Jersey Shore. Had our own reality show called “The Sorrentino’s”. Official Tanning Salon of Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders.   Picked by Y-100 to be interviewed on air, (alongside of CEO of European Wax Center), to speak on Women’s Empowerment, for International Women’s Day.  Jen is a Former Broadcast Journalist for Television | Ringside Commentator for Mixed Martial Arts & Boxing as seen on Fox Sports and HBO Boxing  TV color commentator on a show called FightZone, that aired on Fox Sports and broadcast into 38 million homes.   Don King TV – Interviewer on HBO & Showtime Cards  A former combat sports practitioner and devotee. 3x NAGA Jiu-Jitsu Champion, and FL Golden Gloves competitor from the prestigious American Top Team Academy.
