The sin of Adam caused “death by sin” to all mankind. Jesus, the second Adam, caused redemption to be available to all who believe. Since disease, that is incipient death, entered into the world by sin, its true remedy must be found in the redemption of Christ. Many hold uncertainty concerning God’s will for the healing of the whole man; therefore, we hear people say, “if it be Thy will, please heal me.” Such declarations undermine the faith necessary to receive God’s gracious gift of salvation and wholeness. Supernatural Healing will provide a biblical view on the subject as it relates to our body, mind, and spirit. Additional to the teaching about physical healing, the spiritual realm and demons’ influence will be reviewed. Since “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God,” we can expect God’s supernatural involvement as a result of this… To read the rest of the description visit lhim.org/resouorces/classes.php?id=68

  • Faithfulness and Prayer

    Luke 18:1
The purpose of this parable is to show that we should pray at all times and not faint.
    Luke 18:2-8
“Will he find faith on the earth?” is in the context of praying at all times and not being faint.
Luke 11:1 – Teach us to pray
Luke 11:1-4 – Similar to the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6:9-13
Luke 11:5-8 – A similar example to Luke 18:1-8. Be persistent.
Luke 11:9-13 – We need to ask. We need to seek. We need to knock.
    1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray without ceasing.
Romans 12:12 – Devoted to prayer; KJV – “continuing instant in prayer.” The word “devoted” is the Greek word proskartereo. Some of the lexicon definitions for this are: to adhere to one, be devoted or constant to one, to be steadfastly attentive unto, to give unremitting care to a thing, to continue all the time in a place, to persevere and not to faint, to show one’s self courageous for, to be in constant readiness for one, to wait on constantly.

    40 Days of prayer

Significance of the number “40” = a time of testing and trial, a time of renewal, a new generation

    • Flood – 40 days and 40 nights – Genesis 7:12

    • Moses in the mount 40 days – Exodus 24:18; Deuteronomy 9:9-11 (2nd time – Deut 10:10)
    • Children of Israel searched the land for 40 days – Numbers 13:25
    • Children of Israel wandered in the wilderness 40 years – Numbers 14:33; 32:13; Deuteronomy 8:2; Joshua 5:6; Psalm 95:10; Acts 7:36; 13:18; Hebrews 3:9
    • First three kings of Israel (Saul, David, &Solomon) all ruled for forty years (Acts 13:21; 1 Kings 2:11; 1 Kings 11:42).
    • Elijah fasted 40 days &40 nights – 1 Kings 19:8
    • Jesus fasted for 40 days &40 nights – Matthew 4:2; Mark 1:13; Luke 4:2
    • Jesus walked around on the earth for 40 days after his resurrection, before ascending to God’s right hand – Acts 1:3

  • Devoted to God

Romans 12 is a chapter we should read frequently along with Matthew 5-7 and Ephesians 4-5. It contains one of the best summaries in the Bible of how to live as a Christian.
    Romans 12:1

    Acceptable = pleasing

Spiritual service of worship = reasonable worship

In ancient times, God’s people worshipped Him by offering animal sacrifices.

    – lamb for a peace offering
    – a bull for a sin offering
    – turtledoves or young pigeons for a burnt offering

Sacrifice: the act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do something else or to help someone

What does God ask to be a sacrifice? Why should we be willing to go through with this?

    Romans 5:6-11; 6:23; 1:24-32
    Romans 12:2

    Be conformed = passive voice

    World = age
    Prove = test

Satan works hard to spread deception in this age

    2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 John 5:19; Revelation 12:9

    Romans 12:1-2

Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living, holy sacrifice, pleasing to God, your reasonable service. And do not be shaped together with this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for you to figure-out what the will of God is, what is good and pleasing and perfect.

  • God's Way to Salvation

Romans 9:29 is quoted from Isaiah 1:9. Israel was under Assyrian invasion. If God had not spared a remnant among them, all would have been wiped out.
9:30 – 10:21 – The Gentiles responded to the message which assured them of their acceptance by God on the ground of faith, and it was reckoned to them as righteousness. The Jews (for the most part) continued to pursue the path of legal righteousness, seeking acceptance with God on the basis of their law-keeping, and yet never attained their goal.
    32 – Isaiah 8:13-15; 1 Peter 2:8
    33 – Isaiah 28:16
10:1 – Paul understood their state of mind more than most. An unenlightened zeal for God was exactly what he himself had before he met the risen Christ.

The ways – the way of law and the way of faith – are illustrated by quotations from the Pentateuch.

    3 – Philippians 3:9
4 – The word “end” (telos) has a double sense; it may mean goal or termination. Christ was the goal at which the Law aimed, Matthew 5:17. And the Law’s requirements are fulfilled in Christ.
    5 – Leviticus 18:5
    6-8 – Deuteronomy 30:11-14
10 – Believing and confessing is the order of both logic and experience. The two clauses say essentially the same thing, believing and confession are inseparable as is justification and salvation.
    11 – Isaiah 28:16; 9:33
    13 – Joel 2:32
    10:14-21 – The world-wide proclamation
    18 – Psalm 19:4
    19 – Deuteronomy 32:21
    20 – Isaiah 65:1 and 2
    11:1-29 – God’s purpose for Israel
    11:30-36 – God’s purpose for the world
