51勞動節，是勞工在沒有暑假寒假之後，專屬的假日。不過這個假日的起源，包含了許多19世紀末期勞工的血汗，我們現在熟悉的每天工作八小時，在當時是工會團體的主要訴求，而推動這項訴求成真的過程，卻是來自一場失控的流血罷工活動。
