Encounter

This tale of an ancient being and the hapless mining crew who discover it is entertaining and unique. Particularly well done is the language, perceptions and behavior of the ancient entity. The entity is brought vividly and believably to life through the writing here. The crew of the Canary have an interesting dynamic and the Universe that the author has created here exists in a far, far flung future.

Loved this book. I have not read fiction in awhile, but I was hooked within the first page. The author created characters with depth and mystery and I simply could put it down until I finished it.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! It's especially good for when you begin to question your everyday life. It will make you laugh, think, gaffaw and remember your dreams...may also cause headaches as you try to UNsee, UNknow and UNthink.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Curioddity?

When the main character decides to go with the flow...or UNsee. Several times!

Which character as performed by PJ Ochlan was your favourite?

Lucy Price, when she's driving. Marcus James, because he is just so bad!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I would have loved to, however I definately needed to pace myself. The humour gives regular reprieves throughout, however when you start to UNsee (Idare you not to try it for real) even listening to an audiobook begins to have a timing all of it's own. I did finish it in 3 days.

Good Book, Great Narration.

What made the experience of listening to The Road to Amistad the most enjoyable?

I agree that is a tough book to review. It's not like anything I've read before yet it kept me turning virtual pages anxious to find out what would become of Ken, his family and the other real life a characters that were introduced in Detour From Normal. I would recommend this book and definitely suggest getting audible version so you too can enjoy The Road to Amistad and the remarkable narration of Michael Rubino. I'll be waiting for next book by Ken Dickson.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the narration done by Michael Rubino. Michael did an amazing job with giving each character a voice of their own, with accents, tones, and language that made it easy to discern who was speaking even before the writing told you.

Have you listened to any of Michael Rubinos other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to Michael's other stories but I would love to listen to his future books. His easy going and relaxed voice was enjoyable without being at all monotone. He gave voices to each character that made is fun to listen to and easy to understand who was speaking.

I look forward to any future narrations by Michael Rubino. I really enjoyed his style.

Alien Apocalypse

An alien race invaded Earth four years ago. Though Earth won, there were few survivors and a mostly decimated landscape remained. Small groups of survivors have banded together in search of a new existence - and humanity. When Eva meets Walker and Tara, she discovers hope for a new beginning.

I enjoyed Eva's story of torment and survival. She had become as ruthless as the aliens that had tried to take over the planet. It was difficult for her to trust others after seeing the worst of mankind when they had been liberated, only to be in another kind of prison. There were some terrifying moments as well as a little romance to keep my interest. The story seemed open-ended at the conclusion and I suspect there might be a sequel. It was mentioned that the aliens that remained appeared to be regrouping for a possible future attack, so I can easily envision another book. BettySoo's voice was age appropriate for the characters and I could easily distinguish between them. She did an excellent job of drawing in the listener and conveying their emotions. When We Were Human was an enjoyable listening experience and I would recommend it.

Great story

This is the first but certainly not the last book Ill be reading or listening o by Kate. L. Mary.

I really enjoyed this and love Eva. I want to know how Hope progresses. I want to know wants going on with the Creepers. I hope here is another book and I will have to go searching for it as soon as I finish posting this review.

This is a great book for preteens, teens & adults. I will definitely recommend it to all of my friends with kids.

Great story

Although i enjoyed this book, there was some predictibilty with it. But that even worked to the book's advantage, when the predictible became unpredicted. This is the story of an individual that finds the belonging that she needs to survive.

The Fugitive Pair: PG 8 to youngest adult, PG 18

What do you call the area between the "youth" rating and the "adult" rates? The Fugitive Pair definately is in that grade just a little above The Fugitive Heir. There were several moments in the two books that I thought signaled a graduation to the adult level but I was wrong, probably just applying my wants to the text. The stories are okay but do not have the polish found in the more developed Adult tomes. The characters need more distinction because as they stand, they're pretty shallow. This is the book you take on a trip with the family without having to fast forward any scenes but there's enough action, intrigue, and tip-toeing around sex to titulate your teen but leaving the eight year old oblivious to it all.

Pirates, wizards, con men. lost moons, it's all here. Space opera with some of the funniest dialogue I've read in a long time.The crew of the Mobius may be perpetually down on their luck, but the wise cracks never stop.I was hooked with the first book, and I am almost through the series Grab a book, and let Carl, and Mort, and the rest work their magic on you. This voyage is great. Come along.

Great Series!!!

My son got the 1st 8 "Missions" when they were available together. When he recommended the book to me, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, by the time I finished reading the 1st "Mission" I was hooked. After finishing No. 8, I signed up for Mr. Morin's newsletter so that I would be sure to know when the next "Mission" was due.

We like that each character has a "back story" that tells how they ended up on the "Mobius" & what skills they contribute to the group. The characters are all so different from each other & yet they fit together. There are arguments between them yet when trouble happens they pull together. In other words, they are a family. One of the group has left (she believes she's found something better) but the rest of the group haven't given up on her. They're still looking for her. Mostly my son & I like the stories because of the creative ways the group gets out of whatever trouble they've managed to get into.

We have recommended these stories to several people & will continue to do so. Great stories, Mr. Morin. Keep up the good work!! Thank you!!!

Great series! Highly recommended!

I initially picked up the Black Ocean from an ad on Facebook. I figured "Hey, it's free. Give it a go." After reading Mission 1, I couldn't put it down. I since have bought all of the missions and can't wait to read the next from J.S. Morin. His characters are loveable and memorable, even if they aren't quite the "good" guys.

totally great

A book uch beter than most in the fantsy detive genre. Some really funny moments.

Good plot and characters. Nice tonge in cheak humor as well. Excellent book but short of a 5 star home run.

entertaining book at reasonable pricing

Mercedes almost always delivers a well written entertaining story and this is no exception. This Is not a deep philosophical book. But is very reasonably priced entertainment. It is not one of her best works ; she does better at sword and sorcery genre. But it has some moments of mirth and follows the classic line of the private detective story with the added twist that many of the characters are supernatural. The book doesn't take it self too seriously and neither should you (take this book too seriously).. Most of the book revolves around Humph the supernatural private detective and a slightly disparagingly inept human client. The earlier book in the series is slightly more entertaining, but this sequel retains some of the humor.

The reasonable pricing slides this from three and a half stars to four.

Reese has done it yet again ! I think I may actually get tired of saying that with the volume of his work !

Charity Grace is back as Gravedigger and still kicking ass ! Once more Barry Reese has Gravedigger battling bad guys and more unsavory foes from the paranormal ! Reese seems to have a good handle on the other worldly villains, giving us a glimpse on how normal humans can open portals and try to engage these entities for their own greed ( Maybe a more detailed glimpse is lacking so we don't try the same thing by accident ? ) Never fear though Gravedigger lives up to her name and puts an end to them one after the other, not only working to save her soul but her humanity as well and become the better person her 2nd chance has offered. I truly love the fact that while he has multiple series going we do not have cookie cutter characters on the side of either the good guys or the bad guys. You can tell he has put forth a lot of effort in creating each character, even the villains. Can't wait for Volume 3 in the Gravedigger series or the Next Lazarus Gray ! Done with those then dive into the Peregrine series ! All are 5 star adventures !

She's Back!

She's back, and in a full-length adventure this time! I liked reading one book-long story better than the three shorter tales of the first volume, so I'm hoping Volume Three will do the same.

Do you need to read Volume One first? Not for the action story, no; but the thing that helps set the Gravedigger apart is that she's on a spiritual journey to redeem her life and her very soul. As such, the action plot isn't as interesting as the personal character storyline continuing throughout the series, so while not necessary to follow the plot, I recommend reading the series in order so that you can enjoy the character arc.

The supporting cast is about the best I've come across in any New Pulp. Everyone has their own motivations and way of looking at the world, and they don't necessarily always get on; not in the silly rivalry way of Ham and Monk or the Torch and the Thing, but in the way of actual individual people who have to work together.

Of the three corners of Mr Reese's trinity of mystery men (Gravedigger, the Peregrine, and Lazarus Gray), Gravedigger is easily the most original and in my opinion the most human and interesting of them. Give her series a try. You won't be disappointed.

I love this story

I love this story. It kept my interest to the point I did not want to put the book down til I reached the very end. I just realizes there is a part two that i am eager to get my hands on. I recived a copy of this book for free or paid a deep discount for it. In exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Well done!

I would have liked more character development, more description. I may follow up with the next installment. It was a compelling story, but lacking the book and depth of "Ship Breaker" or other superior dystopian series that I've read recently.

Good Story

I enjoyed reading about the characters developed in this story. I would have preferred more development surrounding the characters and I was left wanting more. For my taste the ending could have been explained better and developed the ending much better. I was disappointed after spending my time reading to be left with so many questions.

They really stuck it to us

The story started with two lads receiving the gift of eternal life. Then the scenario changes with one barefooted man chasing the other. The plot continues with both men the victims of laboratory experiments gone wrong. The power seems to come with the victim having to hug a life form to capture its essence. I'm sure selective ebooks will explain why the lads were selected and why the experiments were made

Fun and quick read

Fun and quick read full of unexpected surprises. It was hard not to just read the whole thing right away. I am very excited for the next book!
