Welcome to another episode of ‘Licensed Psychologist, Now What?’ Podcast. I am honored to have my friend and mastermind partner, Shirani M. Pathak, LCSW, join us as we talk about how we can dismantle Supremacy Culture in our relationships and life in general.
Shirani maintains a small boutique practice for couples and provides public mentor/coaching service to those who are ready to learn how to break the barriers of supremacy culture and the industrialization of therapy work.
She realized how she could connect more effectively with patients and achieve better and faster results by offering intensive therapy because it allowed her gifts to shine through in a real way. By honoring her calling she has embarked on a journey that has allowed her to discover and present herself to her patients and her audience with the utmost authenticity.
I invite you to listen to our conversation where we discuss her very important message, which explains how by connecting to your own value and worth YOU can unlock those gifts that are already within you AND bring them into the world.

In today’s episode, I am so excited to welcome my first guest! I have the pleasure of introducing my friend Jenny Viveros, LCSW @latin_burlesque. Jenny likes to call herself a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by day and burlesque dancer by night!
In this fun and engaging conversation, we talked about her two biggest passions; advocating for her peers’ rights and dancing. The deep roots of her Mexican culture helped her in this journey of finding her truest self. Even after many struggles along the way, her dancing was what gave her the jumpstart to becoming the fearless activist that set her on the path of becoming a social worker. Throughout her search for social justice, she saw she could help communities like the one she grew up in.
Nowadays she combines both passions by working as a Social Worker and teaching burlesque dance classes, where she has been able to combine both strengths because in them the feeling of Comunidad is essential for the students to embrace.
If you want to learn more about Jenny's classes or future offerings make sure to check her out on Instagram!

Today’s episode wraps up the journey I have been through to become the Licensed Psychologist I am today and where my life has taken me on this continuous path of growth and evolution.
I invite you to listen to this episode as I share some of the memories of leaving my agency work continuing on to the beginning of starting my private practice, until today.
Many emotions unravel as I talk about all the things that lead me to this moment; from reinventing how to operate my business, to trusting my gut and connecting to my inner calling, to focusing on the things that really give me joy by recognizing my season in life and learning how to move forward this way.
Through this journey I had to recognize and deal with things that you might relate to like:
I share some things that have helped me in this evolution and although it's still a work in progress it has definitely helped me have a more balanced work/family life.
WHERE ARE YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY? CAN YOU IDENTIFY YOUR SEASON OF LIFE? MY HOPE FOR YOU IS THAT YOU CAN!

If you want to share your story I would love to hear from you, I am here to share our stories, the collective experiences that have taken us to today.
In today’s episode of ‘Licensed Psychologist, Now, What? I take you on a little journey from the time I started my predoctoral internship in Los Angeles, California to when I went full-time in my private practice a few years ago.
At the beginning of this process, I went through big, significant changes in my life, like moving to Los Angeles, CA after having lived my whole life in the sheltered life of the island to a city like LA.
At this time I started dealing with feelings of ‘less-of’ as I was struggling with the language barrier, not having a clear racial/ethnic identity, and numerous situations that I experienced during these years.
The transition from being a full-time student to a full time-intern, to doing my dissertation long-distance, to completing my Post-Doctoral, to full-time employee started to take a toll on my health. The pressure and some of the feedback that I received were less than ideal, but this is when I anchored on the negative energy to help fuel the power within me. As a result, I was able to pass the boards and become a Licensed Psychologist.
My husband and I briefly moved back to Puerto Rico but eventually came back to LA where I finalized my licensing process for Puerto Rico and then in California. After some frustrating job situations, I found myself setting the path to my private practice and took the leap! Tune in next week to listen to the final part of my story of how I became a Licensed Psychologist and the development of my private practice until today.

Welcome to another episode of my new Podcast, Licensed Psychologist, Now What? Today I continue to embark you on my journey by talking a little more in-depth about my education which was mostly from Catholic Schools and a very traditional upbringing. Experiences like one I had at a Summer Camp started to open my eyes to the world out there and took me on a road where critical thinking and all of the things I took for granted in my life suddenly felt different than before. I talk about my school experiences, like how I experienced my first important lessons of failure as I started Grad School but at the same time, they ended up teaching me important lessons of determination and showed me that when you work towards something you can get it. I was able to reclaim my power and love of speaking and as I reflect on my story it helps me show you how I got to where I am today.

Welcome to my new podcast; Licensed Psychologist, Now What? !!!
For those who don’t know me, I can proudly tell you I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and brought up within a big family. My childhood was surrounded by lots of uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents which is a big part that made me who I am today. This first episode is part one of 4 where I share a little more about my childhood and all the "natural and inherited gifts" I have that helped me become a psychologist. My invitation to you is to explore your own childhood and all the inherited and natural gifts you came with and that you are reclaiming.
I am looking forward to connecting with you!
