58 year-old scholar patrol guard, Johannes Molefe, who was accused of raping and sexual assaulting learners at the A.B Xuma Primary school in Soweto was yesterday found not guilty by the Johannesburg High. He worked at the school as a patrol guard, was arrested in October last year after several learners told teachers that had he raped and sexually assaulted them. We always encourage people to speak out and up when they are in abuse environments. Does this make it difficult for women, especially young girls? Has the just system failed these learners?

The Youth Innovation Challenge with a core focus on maritime, began in May this year with 120 keen participants. The various stages of the maritime programme whittled down the participants from the initial 120 to the tenacious resilient final 26 participants.
Project manager, Nkululeko Mthembu, said: “In 2018 they are focusing on the extensive maritime industry. The objective of Maritime Youth Innovation Challenge is to give the youth of Durban and surrounding areas an opportunity and platform to come up with practical innovative solutions to existing problems that will be implemented to eradicate issues that hinder efficiency of the Port of Durban.

Mr. Kganyago served the SABC as Spokesperson for 13 years. Throughout his tenure, he became the face and voice of the SABC and served the organization and South African public diligently and with integrity.

The SABC would like to thank Mr. Kganyago for his contribution in communicating and creating awareness of SABC messages, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
