Today I have the pleasure of speaking with a very close friend of mine, Emily Tschida. In 2016 Emily joined Americorps and moved down to Arkansas for a year to help high school students graduate and see their potential for their future. She was so inspired by the work that, while still in Arkansas, she applied for Peace Corps. She was accepted into the Peace Corps and only had 5 days at home in Minnesota before boarding a plane for Comoros, a small island in Africa, where she would live for the next 2 and a half years. Emily’s story is inspiring in so many ways and reminds us that we can all learn so much from each other, no matter how different we may seem. Here is Emily’s story….

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Roseline Friedrich about her candle company, Roseline Candles. Roseline started the company in 2019 after throwing a candle-making party for friends. Since then, her candles have taken off! Roseline is in tons of local stores and even opening her own storefront in just a few months. Tia is the owner of Fox Run. Fox run has changed a lot over the years. It started as a furniture consignment pop-up and quickly turned into a mobile market that sold all different types of art created by local Minnesota artists. Now Tia has her own storefront, continues the mobile market, puts on artists' workshops,  and gets ready for their biggest event of the year at the Minnesota state fair.  On Today’s show, I have the pleasure of interviewing Mary Ashley Krogh, better known as Mak from bound for nowhere. Post-college graduation, mak and her boyfriend Owen hit the road for an extended road trip, trying to find the perfect place to live. For 5 years now, Mak and Owen have been living on the road as thousands of people follow their lives through Bound for nowhere. At the age of 32, Sarah Williams looked at her busy life working for a bank in London and decided that it no longer made her happy. So, she quit her job and went on an 18 month trip around the world. Along the way, she realized her passion for challenging adventures and raising women’s voices. And she has found a way to make an income and live a life, doing just that. Here is Sarah’s story. 

Today I talk with Jacklyn Rassmussen, who is the owner of Northern Ties. The pandemic hit Jacklyn hard, as she found herself furloughed, going through a breakup, and worried about paying her mortgage all at once. It ended up being a Tik Tok video and 2 Walmart sweatshirts, which were her saving grace and turned her entire life around. Here is Jacklyn’s story.

Today’s episode is very special to me, as I catch up with my old friend and 3-time olympian Faye Gulini. Growing up in Utah, Faye started snowboarding at the age of 8, and her love for the sport and the competition showed right off the bat. At the age of 17, she was shocked when she got the call that she was invited to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Since then, Faye's boardercross career has been filled with many challenges and rewards. She gives a behind-the-scenes look at the Olympics and what it is like to be a professional snowboarder.  One of my favorite things about Faye is how she seamlessly combines hard work and dedication with a fun and light-hearted attitude and pure enjoyment for her sport. In today’s episode, I speak with Jen, Kiki, and Haley, who are the ladies behind grueter golf. I have been obsessed with Grueter Golf’s Instagram and podcast for the past year and was so excited to hear and share their story. What started as a fake Instagram account making fun of Kiki’s new hobby turned into a full-fledged business with a membership, events, a podcast, and so much more. The mission behind grueter golf is to break down the wall of intimidation and get more people, specifically women, into the game. This podcast is about so much more than golf. It is a reminder that you don’t need to be good at something to enjoy it and that things are always better with friends… These girls are always having the most fun possible on the golf course and in life. 

In today’s episode, I get a chance to chat with the founders and owners of lake house candle co Hannah Sterne and Adriana Ernest. Like many others, Hannah and Adriana lost their jobs amidst the pandemic. Instead of feeling down and out, these girls used their time to build something they could be proud of. Inspired by the amazing lakes in Minnesota, they launched Lake House Candle Co last November, and their candles have been in high demand since the day launched. In six short months, they have sold over 6,000 candles and are in 50 retail stores. And most of these candles were hand poured out of their kitchen. Don’t worry; these two don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.  Here is their story.
