Good Tuesday morning! I am so glad you have joined me this morning. It's always good to have people hanging out with me. Today, you are listening to Episode 26 of Life in the Son, United We Stand. I have a couple of announcements before I get into it, though.

People think we don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to challenging these big corporations. But look, we have a responsibility to ourselves to not be ripped off, or gouged, or anything else. There is a lot of this going on with bigger corporations because they've been given too much leniency.

5) Instacart also engages in misrepresentation with their fees. It's up to us to do something about it. These big corporations need regulations. We the consumers aren't happy about it and we expect a change, which is our right to do. If you have issues, such as these, please, send me a message and let me know. United We Stand

Remember the game Red Rover that we used to play in elementary school? There would be two teams that faced each other from several yards apart. The first team would lock elbows and chant, "Red Rover, Red Rover, send "a player's name" right over. The opposing team, then sent the designated player running to break through the line. The first line of players must prevent the opponent from breaking through.

Breaking through the line by one's self is futile. Let's stand united as the line that keeps the one kid from breaking through, standing together, elbows locked. "Togetherness" seems to be a serious issue and it is really bothersome. We are the United States of America. We are a smorgasbord of people from all nationalities and do you know what is cool about that? It doesn't matter where you came from. Everyone came here for one united purpose. To Be Free!

Divided We Fall

Do we even remember what freedom is? (Freedom to disagree is great!) The framework of our constitution should protect us from exactly what is happening right now. Americans are free to think, to work, to decide, to earn, to build, to tear down. All to often, that these days we listen to what a few people tell us is right for us. We puppets do what we are told.

Cancel Culture

Somehow, to disagree with someone, subjects one to cancellation. But, this is not the way it works in the United States of America. . One of the big issues I see right now goes to what I warned about since last February. I started telling everyone around me, "Do - not - buy - into - any - of - it! This is divide and conquer. We can all be individuals running across the field to break through the line. Or, together. we could be the line.

People are Afraid

I notice an alarming state of fear of falling prey to cancellation. Overcome these fears of cancel culture or whatever.

Useful Idiots

What are useful idiots? According to the Webster's Dictionary, useful idiots are naïve or credulous people who can be manipulated or exploited to advance a cause or political agenda. I call the useful idiots, political puppets.

In my last episode, I'm Calling You Out, it should have been clear that the people in power in Washington, D.C. are sticking it to the American people through misinformation, propaganda, really just ball faced lies.

I'm sure some of you heard the Surgeon General speak the other day, and if you did, I'm sure you hear the question posed to him, "Who should we trust?" His answer was simply, "You should trust the government." That's exactly who I am telling you not to trust. I say this because they are always lying. Everyone who is listening to the political propaganda is a useful idiot, or a puppet.

I hope the message was clear that the American people need to wake from their slumber.

Independence Day 2021

This is Independence Day 2021 We are just going to have a “hi” and “bye” session today because – July 4, 2021.

Laura Beavers: That’s right.

C. K. Williams: You know, I learned some really cool stuff about Independence Day 2021 today. So, what I learned today about Independence Day, or about some people on Independence Day, was that people like James Madison and a few other statesmen of that time, who were a big part of waging war against England, thought that July 2 should be Independence Day.

Laura Beavers: And why is that?

C. K. Williams: Well, that’s actually when the Independence Declaration was signed and then ratified on the fourth day July. So, several of these men felt that July 2 should have been the day that we celebrate as Independence Day. James Madison and Thomas Jefferson, who were actually political rivals, believe it or not, (they butted heads quite frequently) but after there political careers, they actually became good acquaintances. Anyway, these two men thought that July 2 should be Independence Day. Oddly enough, both of those men died on July 4 – 50 years after this all came to be. Isn’t that crazy?

Laura Beavers: That is crazy.

C. K. Williams: They died on the same day.

We Declared Independence

C. K. Williams: Now, here’s something else I found out. You do realize why we declared Independence, right?

Laura Beavers: Right

C. K. Williams: The bottom line is that King George was very heavy-handed, if you will. He was taxing the colonies so badly that they couldn’t make anything. It went against what everybody who came here, planned to do. King George just wanted extra territory. And the people who were wanted freedom. So, the tyrant, King George, when he got his fanny handed to him, during the War for Independence, after that the some of the colonies would have mock funerals for King George every year for Independence Day.

C. K. Williams: Our special guest today, Lynn Sheldon: Godfire R. D. O. (Revival and Discipleship Outreach). How are you doing today Lynn?

Lynn Sheldon: I am doing well, thank you.

C. K. Williams: I'm glad to have you on the show. You're actually my 3rd guest on the show and it's always exciting to have a guest. You have got an amazing ministry; you have been working on. First, tell us about your background, leading you up to this point.

Lynn Sheldon: Personal Background

Lynn Sheldon: I come from the Midwest and my job eventually took me to the South and I love the South. Although I love the Midwest, their taxes are too high so I stay in the South. My background is broadcasting I. Went to Northwest Missouri State University and got my degree there in broadcasting.

However, I worked for 47 years in broadcast sales. I put in thirty years at one station here in the South, but during this time God gave me a ministry to start and so we have. It's called God Fire revival and discipleship outreach. Now to give you a little bit about my Christian background.

Lynn Sheldon: Christian Testimony

Lynn Sheldon: I became a Christian in 1985. And it was really interesting how that happened. I was working out of Missouri at a broadcast network there and I was coming home from a meeting in Saint Louis. We were living in Jefferson City at the time and I always listen to Christian radio.

I attended church and I thought I was a Christian, but I found out later that attending church doesn't make you a Christian. But I always listen to Christian radio. Because I enjoyed talk radio, I listened to Christian radio. It was the only talk radio you could get as far as to talk in those days, right?

So, I Was listening to this particular pastor and he started talking about the darkness in our hearts. And it so moved me that I pulled off to the side of the road and just wept. cause I realized I wasn't a good person. I had a lot of darkness in my heart. I don't know what that meant other than the Holy Spirit started to draw me then. But I didn't know what to do with it. so, I went home.

Lynn Sheldon: Getting the Message

I've been searching Psalm 91, which is still my favorite song. Something in Psalm 91 told me I needed to move from Jefferson City to elsewhere. Now, I couldn't tell you what was there that made me think this. Anyway, I took a job in Shreveport. Thankfully, I found another job six months later. The people were nice, I just could never figure out if I was in Shreveport or Bosier. It was one of those places that are just difficult to get around.

I arrived there about 4:00 in the afternoon or so, driving from Jeff City. And to my surprise, a gentleman who I had been in competition with I guess for sales manager he got the job but I didn't. He was a friend of mine. A good friend of mine and I didn't realize he was going after the job too, but thank God, he got it and I didn't. But anyway, that's another story.

Lynn Sheldon: Led to Christ

Lynn Sheldon: We sat there and talked for a little bit and then he took called me back to his office. And he closed the door. And we talked radio. What it's all about and stuff like this. But then he said Lynn, are you a Christian? And I said, Chuck. I think so. I teach Sunday school and I go to church.

He said, "yes, but do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ?"

And I said, " don't even know what you're talking about there."

He shared the gospel with me and led me to Christ.

This is Memorial Day

Today is May 31, 2021, and this is Memorial Day. In Episode 17, What is Memorial Day, I presented the US Code for this federal holiday. I decided to include it today as well:

What is Memorial Day

This year (in two weeks), Memorial Day on 31 May 2021 but, what is Memorial Day? Established as the national holiday to commemorate all American soldiers killed in combat. Traditionally, family and friends gather together to barbecue and socialize. It is a holiday, after all. One long held tradition is to visit war memorials, museums, and even cemeteries. Scattered across the country, several towns and a few cities, especially the bigger cities will have parades on the weekend of Memorial Day. VFW's and local American Legions coordinate with the city and will consist of active duty personnel, veterans, and people from various veteran service organizations.

Centuries Old Practice

What is the Earliest Recorded Memorial Day

Memorials held to honor those who died in battle is a tradition that goes back for centuries and the earliest recorded Memorial day in history dates back to 431 B.C.E. In fact, it took place at the end of the first year of the Peloponnese War. One day after the burial of all the soldiers, one individual chosen by the people, spoke a few words in honor of the fallen warriors.

This particular oratory, delivered by Pericles, is the most famous and influential speech in all of history. Chiefly because it offers a stirring tribute to the culture of Athens, to democracy and freedom, and it celebrates the men who are willing to die for their city. The ancient Greeks as well as the Romans held annual days of remembrance for loved ones (including soldiers) each year, festooning their graves with flowers and holding public festivals and feasts in their honor.

The US started late 19th Century

Earliest Known US Memorial

One of the earliest known memorials took place at the after the Civil War ended. Near the end of the Civil War, thrown-together camps in Charleston, S.C., housed thousands of prisoners of war from the Union Army. One of those camps, at one time was a racetrack. The conditions were so poor that over 250 prisoners succumbed to death as result of disease or exposure. Their bodies dumped behind the grandstand in a mass grave. May 1, 1865, three weeks after the South surrendered, over 1000 recently freed slaves, several regiments of African American US troops, to include Massachusetts 54th infantry, and maybe a dozen white Charlestons arrived at the old camp to give those Union Soldiers a proper burial.

General John A. Logan

General John A. Logan was a soldier who had served in the Mexican-American War, although he never saw any action. Elected as an Illinois State Senator, Logan subsequently won a race in the house of representative. When the Civil War started, General Logan resigned as a United States congressman to resume his commission in the Union Army. After the war, he returned to politics to serve in the house and the senate and in 1884, he was the unsuccessful Republican for vice-president.

What was Decoration Day?

What exactly was Decoration Day? May 30, 1868 became the first observance of Decoration Day, or Memorial Day as it is known today. General Logan, commander-in-chief of the Northern Civil War Veterans Organization, otherwise known as the Grand Army of the Republic, issued the decree on May 1, 1868. nationwide day of commemoration for the all soldiers who lost their lives in the recently ended Civil War. Decoration Day, as Logan dubbed it, is the day when Americans should lay flowers and decorate the graves of the war dead “whose bodies now lie in almost every city,

Talking about S.L.O.P.: Introduction:

Today, on the show, I will only be Talking About S.L.O.P. However, I am not talking about what is fed to pigs. Nor, is it about what soldiers eat in the chow hall. The S.L.O.P. I am talking about is nothing like that at all.

You may be familiar with the acronym S.O.P... I heard this the first time in the Navy. It stands for Standard Operating Procedure, which is a set of step-by-step instructions for carrying routine operations.

Likewise, S.L.O.P. is an acronym. It stands for, Simple List of Obligations Prioritized. Similar to the S.O.P., (list of instructions), S.L.O.P.is a list of obligations.

In each case:

the S.O.P. provides each step in a particular order,

S.L.O.P., lists a few obligations by importance.

I must mention that this is not of my creation or design. It is, however, my testimony that all I share today is what the Lord revealed to me.

To be sure, there is no lecture, nor does a sermon unfold today. Without doubt, I am testifying today. In fact, I have no shortage of things about which to testify. Because I have no guest cohost. So, I will be talking about S.L.O.P., I will keep on testifying. However, I know that I am not the only one with good testimonies. I extend the invitation to come share yours. After all, Life in the Son is the show where Christians are encouraged to share their testimonies.

I do not have a monopoly on the Lord's forgiveness or love. There is plenty to go around. I am no better than anyone else and definitely not more deserving.

For that reason, I continue to testify and I encourage others to do the same. In fact, I regularly extend invitations to you and others to share your testimony on the show. If you think about it, this is one of our obligations as ambassadors of Christ.

We are ordinary people who share with others the reality of an extraordinary God who loves us and takes care of us. It is these testimonies of faith that compel the lost and hurting to receive the gift of eternal life.

Talking About S.L.O.P.: Simple List of Obligations Prioritized

You many ask, "What do you mean by a simple list of obligations?" Well, I'm glad you asked because that is exactly what I asked God this past weekend.

In spite of my overwhelming frustration, I went to God and told Him I could not do this anymore. Vehemently pleading my case, I hoped beyond vain hope to be relieved of my burdens.

Somewhere between my pathetic whining about being overburdened and my terribly trifling tantrum, I heard this calm,
