  • Christmas Treat: Visitors. (4)
    Based on: Luke2:15-20; Matthew 2:1-12;

    The shepherds left their flocks to see the child who was born this very night. The signs the angels gave them were all true, and they told everyone they could, before returning to their flocks. But the shepherds weren't the only ones given a sign. At some point, wise men from a distance, noticed a star.

    By the time the wise men got on the scene, they found the young family in a house, not an inn, or a stable, or a manger. the shepherds were long gone, and not mentioned. All indications that Jesus was older, but probably less than 2 years old. There were 3 gifts, but the number of wise men is unknown.

    The point, this message of Messiah was too important to give to the elite and those in current power. God shared these quiet beginnings with the foreigner, and some of the most lowly of his people.

  • Christmas Treat: Birth. (3)
    Based on: Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-14

    Mary had been gone to visit her relative, Elizabeth, but babies don't wait. Somehow, eventually, her pregnancy became known. Joseph knew he had to do something. He was called a righteous man, so he knew the law, he knew the child wasn't his, but he knew he loved Mary enough to not want to do her harm. But just when he had his mind made up, God sent his messenger to him to set him straight. Would tongues wag? It didn't t matter, God was in charge.

    Later, on a specific time, and date as they counted time in those days, the young parents to be sett out on a trip destined to fulfill more prophecy. The child was to be born in Bethlehem. The humble circumstances of the inn, the newborn in swaddling cloth, and feeding trough were unique and meant as signs for shepherds. Shepherds who had been given a message of hope and joy, by a sky full of angels.

    God's message is begun in remote, and humble people. His light shines in the darkest of places, on those who need it the most.

  • Christmas Treat: Promise. (2)
    Based on: Luke 1:39-55; 67-79

    After being told of her child to be born, Mary had went immediately to visit her older relative. Both had miraculously conceived, one in her old age, and the other before being with a man. At first sight, Elizabeth's child left in her womb, the Holy Spirit came upon her , and the ladies began prophesying. Even in the womb, a child has a spirit, a soul, and can recognize others.

    Zechariah had finally regained his voice after John's birth, and added to the prophetic words. In foretelling the role his son would have in making straight the way of the lord, he also confirmed what the prophets of old promised. God's kingdom was coming in the form of Messiah.

    God's promises are real, and come first to the faithful, lowly, and humble.

  • Christmas Treat – Prophecy. (1)Christmas Treat – Prophecy. (1)
    Based on: Isaiah 40:1-11; Luke 1:26-38

    Comfort! To all who live a life of struggle, hardship, and face depression and anxiety. God sends his spirit to move, and wither the best and brightest of humanity.

    But comfort, and joy are in store for those who cling to their faith, and can be counted among his flock. There's no fear, as he tenderly gathers, and carries his faithful ones, like a shepherd does for a nursing lambs.

    As foretold in prophecy, Messiah is Coming. His prophet will make the valleys filled, and high places low, to make the path straight, and easy to travel for our lord.
