By age 14, (right in the middle of puberty)girls are dropping out of sports at twice the rate of boys according to the Women's Sports Foundation. Girls often feel less confident about their bodies, less able to be active and that what they look like is more important than their health and happiness.
How do we stop this? Is there any program out there trying to tackle this issue?
Well...this week on the podcast host and Registered Dietitian, Julia Werth, sits down with the Executive Director (Nancy Woodward) of Greater Hartford Girls on the Run - an international program that is trying to do just that! Listen in to hear how Girls on the Run is teaching girls to be more confident, positive about their bodies and stay active no matter what! Nancy shares some great suggestions for keeping the kids in our life out of the trap that for many grown women has lead to eating disorders and years of hating their own body.
