  • DAY 21 | She Watches Over Her Household

“She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.” — Proverbs 31:27 NKJV

On today’s episode, we learn the difference between idleness and rest.

Throughout Proverbs 31, we’ve seen a woman who works, plans, prepares, gives, leads, and yes, understands the importance of rest. So when Scripture tells us she does not eat the bread of idleness, it doesn’t mean she never rests.

Rest and idleness are not the same thing.

The Proverbs 31 Woman understands what has been entrusted to her, and she pays attention to it. She doesn’t neglect her responsibilities or become careless with what is in her care.

    She’s intentional.
She’s attentive.
She’s a leader with oversight of what’s around her.

And this principle extends beyond the home. As believers, whatever God has entrusted to us, our families, work, gifts, resources, relationships or assignments, we have a responsibility to steward it intentionally.

Rest restores you for stewardship. Idleness neglects what you’ve been entrusted to steward.

So ask yourself today: Am I paying attention to what God has placed in my care?

  • DAY 20 | When She Speaks, Wisdom Comes Out

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.” — Proverbs 31:26 NKJV

On today’s episode, we learn something else about the character of the Proverbs 31 Woman: when she opens her mouth, she speaks with wisdom.

But having wisdom is one thing; knowing how to communicate that wisdom is another.

Her words are not used to tear people down or prove how much she knows. Scripture tells us that wisdom comes from her mouth, and kindness is on her tongue.

There’s a lesson here for us as believers.

    How we communicate matters.

You can have the right message and still deliver it in the wrong way. Our words should build, edify, correct with love and bring life to the people who hear them.

So perhaps the question for us today is:

When you speak, what do your words produce in the people listening, do they build or do they tear down?

May we ask the Holy Spirit for not only the wisdom to know what to say, but also the grace to know how to say it. 🤍

  • DAY 19 | Strength and Dignity Are Her Clothing

“Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come.” — Proverbs 31:25 NKJV

On today’s episode, we learn something about the character of the Proverbs 31 Woman: she is clothed with strength and dignity.

She isn’t afraid of the future because, as we’ve seen throughout this series, she understands stewardship, preparedness and planning.

But she also understands something equally important: she cannot control everything.

She does what is within her capacity to do, prepares where she can, and then surrenders what is beyond her control to the ultimate One—God the Father.

Maybe that’s why she can face the future without fear.

Not because she knows exactly what tomorrow holds, but because she knows Who holds tomorrow.

So here’s something to reflect on today:

What area of your life are you still trying to control instead of entrusting it to God?

Take some time today to do a deep dive.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where you’re holding on too tightly, and to help you release control and trust God with it. 🤍

  • DAY 18 | She Makes and She Sells

“She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants.” — Proverbs 31:24 NKJV

Today, we see another progression in the life of the Proverbs 31 Woman.

She isn’t simply a stay-at-home wife whose entire life revolves around taking care of her household, as she has sometimes been portrayed.

Throughout these verses, we’ve seen a wife, a mother, a leader, a giver, a woman who manages resources and now, a woman who produces and sells.

But I don’t think the lesson here is that every woman must become an entrepreneur.

The principle is stewardship and faithfulness.

She takes what has been entrusted to her and does something meaningful with it. She develops it, multiplies it and produces fruit from it.

And that principle applies to every believer.

Whatever God has placed in your hands, your gifts, resources, opportunities, knowledge, influence or ideas, be faithful with it.

The goal isn’t that we all produce the same thing.
The goal is that we are faithful with what God has given each of us.

  • DAY 17 | Her Husband Is Known at the Gates

“Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.” — Proverbs 31:23 NKJV

On today’s episode, we learn about the Proverbs 31 Woman’s husband: he is at the gate.

And I love what this reveals about their partnership.

He isn’t intimidated by the strength, wisdom or capability of his wife. He understands his own role and takes his place at the gates, a place associated with leadership, counsel and sound judgment.

And I believe this also tells us something about the Proverbs 31 Woman.

She is confident enough in who she is that she doesn’t need to compete with her husband. She can be strong, capable and influential while still giving him room to lead where and when he needs to.

There is strength on both sides.

She doesn’t have to become smaller for him to lead, and his leadership doesn’t require diminishing her.

Healthy partnership makes room for both people to flourish in what God has entrusted to them.

  • DAY 16 | She Is Clothed with Intention

“She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.” — Proverbs 31:22 NKJV

There’s something beautiful about the intentionality of the Proverbs 31 Woman towards herself.

We’ve spent several verses watching her work, provide, plan, invest, lead and give to others. But then Scripture tells us that she makes tapestry for herself.

She doesn’t neglect herself while taking care of everyone and everything around her.

    And I think that’s important.

Sometimes we can become so consumed with pouring into others, building businesses, managing responsibilities and serving that we begin to believe neglecting ourselves is somehow virtuous.

But this woman shows us something different.

She understands that caring for herself does not take away from her ability to care for others.

There is intentionality in how she presents herself, how she cares for herself and even in what she chooses to wear.

You can be generous and still make room for yourself.
You can serve and still care for yourself.
You can pour out and still allow yourself to be replenished.

You don’t have to disappear in order to be useful.

  • DAY 15 | She Is Not Afraid

“She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet.” - Proverbs 31:21 NKJV

We learn something else about this phenomenal woman in this verse: she is not afraid.

But her lack of fear isn’t because she simply hopes everything will work out. She has prepared.

And that doesn’t mean she doesn’t trust God. Instead, she understands the relationship between faith, works and preparedness.

She trusts God, but she also plans ahead. She does what is within her capacity to do and refuses to allow circumstances outside of her control to determine her output.

I think there’s a lesson here for us as believers.

Faith doesn’t cancel preparedness. We can trust God completely while still planning, preparing and being diligent with what He has placed in our hands.

Do what you can do, prepare for what you can prepare for, and trust God with what you cannot control 🤍

  • DAY 14 | Her Hands Produce and Her Hands Give

“She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.” Proverbs 31:19–20 NKJV

Today, we learn something beautiful from the Proverbs 31 Woman: Generosity.

Verse 19 shows us her hands producing, but by verse 20, those same hands are giving.

And I think there’s a lesson in that for us as believers.

We shouldn’t desire to be productive just for ourselves. Our productivity should create room for generosity. Our compassion should eventually turn into action.

God doesn’t place resources, gifts, opportunities and influence in our hands for us alone. Sometimes, what He places in your hands is also His provision for someone else.

    So today, ask yourself:

Am I being generous with what God has placed in my hands?

  • DAY 13 | She Perceives That Her Merchandise Is Good

“She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night.” — Proverbs 31:18 NKJV

The Proverbs 31 Woman is a woman of DISCERNMENT.

    What makes her stand out?

She combines discernment with diligence to produce excellent work, work that brings value and distinguishes her from the crowd.

But I also see something else in this verse: she understands seasons.

There is a time to prepare, a time to work diligently and a time to rest. Her preparedness means she doesn’t have to live in a constant state of exhaustion.

And as believers, our ultimate source of fruitfulness is God.

So while we work, plan and prepare, we must remain discerning and learn to work with the Holy Spirit, because it is through abiding in God that our lives ultimately bear good fruit.

  • DAY 12 | She Girds Herself with Strength

“She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.” Proverbs 31:17

Preparedness is another trait we find in the Proverbs 31 Woman, and I believe it’s a trait every believer, man or woman, should have.

She is thoughtful. She plans ahead. And more importantly, she builds the capacity required for what she has been called to do.

Because preparedness and capacity work hand in hand.

Sometimes we’re praying for greater opportunities, greater responsibilities and greater impact, but are we actually preparing ourselves to carry them?

As believers, we cannot afford to be complacent. We have to continually grow, learn, prepare and strengthen ourselves for whatever God has entrusted to us.
