Today I got to talk to Micahel Catanzaro, Director of Sustainability at the University of San Diego. Michael and I had a great time talking, and I am really excited to share this interview. I had wanted to interview someone working with sustainability on a college campus, and to talk to that person about how their work impacts the work and lives of students for some time now, and I am so happy to have that chance now. Michael and I talked about Arizona, heat, choosing a college, getting involved, networking, comedy, and exploring new opportunities. We also talked about getting outside, cars, energy, teaching, work, fun, people, relationships, being alone, and much more.

This week I sat down with Michael Lovette-Colyer, Assistant Vice President for Mission and Ministry, and Director of University Ministry for the University of San Diego. Michael and I have worked together for a bit on a few committees, and it was really great to get to hear about his journey to doing ministry. We talked about choosing a college, getting connected, student leadership, service, traveling, changing course midway through grad school, and sports. This week you all can hear the LIVE LIFE WORK BALANCES that was recorded as a roundtable at the Association for the Student of Higher Education Annual Conference in St. Louis. We had a great group of people show up to the conversation, and while we did not have a lot of time to talk about it, I feel like we began a really important conversation that I hope everyone can carry with them into their work after the conference. We talked about family, balancing work and school, institutions of oppression, research, time boundaries, and saying no. We also talked about building relationships, staying connected with students, fitness, pursuing passion, the culture of higher education, and a lot more!
