  • Faith Over Fear - God's Presence for Those Experiencing Depression and Despair

When faith and mental health collide, many believers feel caught between shame and silence. In this episode of Faith Over Fear, Carol McCracken talks with Chris Morris, author of Resilient and Redeemed: Lessons about Suicidality and Depression from the Psych Ward. Chris shares his raw and redemptive story of battling depression, walking through a crisis of faith, and discovering that God’s grace meets us even in the darkest places. Together, they explore how to dismantle harmful theology, find freedom through honesty, and experience hope that outlasts despair.

Resource Discussed: Resilient and Redeemed: Lessons about Suicidality and Depression from the Psych Ward

    Discussion/Reflective Questions:

    1. Chris talked about trying to “power through by sheer will” before realizing something had to change. When have you reached the end of your own strength and discovered the freedom of surrender?
    2. Many people tie their identity to productivity or performance. How has God been reshaping your understanding of worth apart from what you do?
    3. Chris described a “crisis of faith,” not a loss of faith. What’s the difference for you—and how have moments of doubt actually deepened your faith journey?
    4. What are some “theological traps” you’ve encountered—beliefs that sounded spiritual but actually created fear, guilt, or shame rather than freedom?
    5. Chris’s friends later asked, “Why didn’t you tell me?” Who in your life could you safely open up to about your struggles, and what would it take to start that conversation?
    6. Paul’s story of the “thorn in the flesh” reminded Chris that God’s grace is enough, even when healing looks different than we hoped. How does that truth speak to your current season of pain or waiting?
    7. What is one practical step God might be inviting you to take having listened to this podcast episode?

  • Everyday Prayers with Million Praying Moms - A Prayer for Imperfect Moms

A Prayer for Imperfect Moms by Julie K. Gillies

Motherhood is full of moments that remind us just how imperfect we are.

We lose our tempers, forget the little things, and wrestle with guilt over what we should have done differently. But today’s reflection by Julie K. Gillies reminds us that our failures don’t define us—God’s goodness and readiness to forgive do.

Through Psalm 86:5 and James 3:2, we’re reminded that we all stumble, yet our Heavenly Father stands ready—arms open—to forgive and restore. His unfailing love meets us in our weariness, cleanses us from guilt, and fills us with grace to try again.

    Reference: Psalm 86:5

Prayer: Lord, I admit that I simply am not capable of being a perfect mom, and I will fail. Will you please help me not to stab myself with a harpoon of guilt, but instead run to You, my faithful God, because You stand ready to forgive me when I blow it? Thank you, Lord, that You are not a harsh, angry heavenly Father, but You stand, arms open and ready to forgive me, Your confessing child.

Help me remember to ask for Your help for everything, especially concerning my parenting and my family. Thank you that when I do, Your unfailing love rushes in, pouring grace into me and enabling me to do what I clearly cannot do apart from You, Jesus. Cleanse me, reinstate me, and enable me to serve my family with great relief and joy. in Jesus’s name, Amen.

  • The Crosswalk Devotional: A Daily Devotional Chris... - Confusion May Signal a God-Transition

When life suddenly feels unclear and the path you’ve been walking seems to disappear beneath your feet, it’s easy to assume something has gone wrong. But Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that God is always at work—even when our view is obstructed. Sometimes confusion isn’t a setback; it’s a signal that God is shifting your direction, preparing new ground, or ushering you into a fresh season. What looks like disorientation may actually be His gentle nudge to lift your eyes, trust Him again, and follow where He’s leading next.

    Highlights

    • Confusion can be a sign of transition, not failure.

    • God often uses unexpected moments to redirect our steps.

    • Old paths may fade so new ones can form.

    • What feels like “lost” may actually be God’s protection or preparation.

    • Faith invites us to walk even when visibility is low.

    • Seasonal shifts in life often require new vision and fresh trust.

    • Scripture realigns our perspective when we can’t see the way forward.

    Confusion May Signal a God-Transition
    By Kelly Balarie

    Bible Reading:
“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”
    – Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT

    God is so creative.

Ever notice how He uses the most unusual things to teach us the lessons we need to know?

    It happened to me today...

Taking a hike, I headed deep into the woods, leaves crunching underfoot. I kept my eyes alert, knowing I needed to take note of landmarks if I wanted to safely return to my car. You know how it is — it’s easy to quickly head somewhere without even realizing how you got there in the first place. That couldn’t happen; I wanted to make it home safely.

At first, seeing my path was easy — that is, until it wasn’t. What used to be visible gray ground had disappeared. Now, pine needles covered my path. And confusion set in...

Was I going right — toward that tall tree? Straight — toward no trees? Or left — toward a tree stump? I wasn’t so sure.

Have you ever been there? Going a certain way only to suddenly experience confusion? Disillusionment? Maybe you were headed somewhere with God, only to be obstructed...
Maybe you thought you were on the right path until you ran into something...

This can feel discouraging and disorienting.

It can happen in marriages, jobs, joys,

  • Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer to Thank Veterans for Their Service

Every year on November 11th, Americans pause to honor the brave men and women who have served our nation in the Armed Forces. In our daily prayer and devotional, we reflect on the fact that Veterans Day commemorates the signing of the armistice that ended World War I — the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month — and stands as a reminder of the tremendous sacrifice made by those who have fought for our freedom.

The liberties we enjoy today were secured through courage, hardship, and devotion. Many veterans have risked their lives — and some have given them — to defend our country. As John 15:13 tells us, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Our veterans come from all walks of life — rich and poor, from cities and small towns, from every background — yet they stood together with one purpose: to protect and preserve freedom. Their service reminds us that courage is not the absence of fear, but faith in the face of danger.

For many veterans, their experiences in service shaped their faith in profound ways. Those who know Christ carry the assurance that God is with them wherever they go (Joshua 1:9). And for those who continue to carry the weight of war — physical wounds, trauma, or loss — God’s comfort remains ever near. As 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 reminds us, He is “the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.”

Today, as we honor those who have served, let us also pray for their healing, peace, and restoration. May every veteran feel seen, valued, and deeply appreciated — not only by their nation, but by the God who calls them beloved.

    Today's Bible Reading:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

    Takeaway Truths

    • Freedom comes at a great cost — and our veterans have borne that cost with courage.

    • God’s presence and comfort are available to every veteran who calls on His name.

    • Gratitude and prayer are powerful ways to honor those who have served.

    Let’s Pray

    Dear Father,

Thank You for the brave men and women who have served our country in the Armed Forces. We are grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and devotion. On this Veterans Day, we ask that You surround them with Your peace and comfort as they reflect on their service.

For those who carry physical, emotional, or spiritual wounds from war, pour out Your healing power. Wrap them in Your compassion and restore their hearts and minds. Let today be a reminder that their sacrifice has not gone unnoticed — by their nation, or by You.

Bless every veteran and their families with strength, hope, and assurance that You are with them always. May we, too, honor them through our gratitude and prayers.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - Peace for What Lies Ahead

If you could know the future, would you want to? As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, for most of us, the answer might be yes — because we long to feel prepared, safe, and in control. Yet, as Amber Ginter reminds us, peace doesn’t come from knowing what’s ahead — it comes from trusting the One who does.

Amber recalls a moment in a Hobby Lobby when she came across a sign that read, “Thank you, Lord, for all the things that didn’t go the way I planned.” The message stopped her in her tracks — a humbling reminder that God’s plans often look different from our own, yet they are always better.

Isaiah 55:8–9 tells us, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” God’s higher wisdom means we can release our grip on control and rest in His sovereign care. Like a loving Father, He withholds what might harm us and leads us toward what will bless us — even when we can’t see the full picture.

We don’t need to predict the future to have peace about it. Proverbs 3:5–6 invites us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. When we acknowledge Him in every decision, He makes our paths straight.

Friend, whatever lies ahead, you can trust an unknown future to a known God. His plans are steady. His love is constant. And His peace — the kind that surpasses understanding — is available to you right now, in this moment, no matter what tomorrow holds.

    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

“You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.”
    — Psalm 65:11 (NIV)

    MAIN TAKEAWAYS

    • True peace comes from trusting God, not from knowing the future.

    • God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours — His plans are always for our good.

    • Releasing control allows us to experience the peace that comes from His sovereignty.

    • Trust in God brings clarity and direction even when circumstances feel uncertain.

    • You can confidently place your future in the hands of a God who never fails.
