  • So Much More: Scripture Meditation (Lectio Divina) - Rest, Receive, Respond | Psalm 46:10 & 23:1, Step 11 Meditation

This Christian Scripture meditation is rooted in Step 11 of the 12 Steps:
We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Step 11 is at the heart of spiritual formation. Through guided reflection and meditation on God’s Word, we will create space to listen for God’s voice, rest in His presence, and seek His will.

In this episode, we’ll slow down with two short but powerful passages:

Psalm 46:10 — Be still and know that I am God.

Psalm 23:1 — The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

As you listen, you’ll be invited to:

    • Rest in stillness before God.
    • Receive His invitation to trust Him more deeply.
    • Respond with prayer and openness to His Spirit.

This meditation is a reminder that God’s ways are better than our own, His presence is with us, and His provision is enough.

Take a deep breath, slow down, and let these Scriptures guide you into peace, trust, and renewed hope.

  • "But Jesus Drank Wine" & Other Stories That Kept U... - Beyond Rehab and 12 Steps | From Traditional Recovery to True Transformation

Have you ever wondered why traditional recovery works for some people—but didn’t quite fit for you?

This week, we’re pulling back the curtain with our friend and BJDW team member Heather whose journey to freedom started inside a rehab program that followed a 12-step model…and ended in a deeper, Jesus-led transformation.

Heather opens up about what she learned, what didn’t resonate, and how she found freedom—not just sobriety—through faith, community, and truth.

If you’ve ever felt out of place in traditional recovery, or wrestled with words like powerless and alcoholic, this conversation is going to set something free inside you.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

    • The parts of traditional recovery that helped Heather build early sobriety.
    • The moments she knew she needed “something more” than meetings.
    • Why labeling herself “powerless” didn’t align with her identity in Christ.
    • How she integrated her faith into a secular recovery space—and what changed when she stopped compartmentalizing.
    • The difference between sobriety and freedom (and why one without the other still feels stuck).
    • The emotional sobriety piece that’s often missing in traditional models.
    • How Jesus met her in unexpected places—from rehab groups to backyard birthday parties.
    • Why community, not control, is what actually sustains transformation.

  • Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer for Encouragement and to Be an Encouragement

We all face moments when discouragement creeps in — when our hearts feel heavy and hope seems distant. Whether it’s physical pain, emotional weariness, or the quiet ache of unmet expectations, we all need encouragement. In this heartfelt reflection, Keri Eichberger shares how, in the middle of her own discouragement, God sent comfort in an unexpected way — through a conversation with a friend who needed encouragement herself.

Proverbs 12:25 reminds us that “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” A single word of kindness has the power to lift not just another person’s spirit, but our own. God designed encouragement to work both ways — when we bless others, we, too, are blessed. When we cheer someone else up, we often find our own hearts restored in the process.

If you’re in need of encouragement today, start by turning to the ultimate Encourager — the Lord, who sees you, loves you, and hears your cries. Then, look for opportunities to lift someone else. A kind word, a thoughtful text, or a prayer for another can become the very means through which God refreshes your spirit.

Encouragement flows both ways: we receive it when we give it. That’s the beautiful cycle of God’s grace at work through His people.

    Today's Bible Reading:
“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” – Proverbs 12:25

    Takeaway Truths

    • Encouragement refreshes both the giver and the receiver.

    • God is the ultimate source of comfort, hope, and strength.

    • Small acts of kindness can make an eternal impact.

    Let’s Pray

    Lord God,

You are my ultimate encourager — the One who lifts me when I am weary and comforts me when my heart feels heavy. I thank You for Your constant presence and tender care.

Help me not only to receive Your encouragement but also to share it freely with others. Open my eyes to those around me who need a kind word or a loving gesture. Use my voice, my actions, and my heart to bring Your joy into their lives.

Thank You, Lord, for the blessing of being both comforted and called to comfort others. May I reflect Your love in every interaction today.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Dwell On These Things - "Worthy is the Lamb" - (Revelation 5:11-14)

When I attempt to picture what heaven looks like, there are multiple images that come to mind.  When I ask others to tell me how they envision it, I'm often told that they imagine things like clouds and harps, reunion and rest. But Revelation 5 shows us something far greater. It gives us a picture of worship that’s full of life, sound, and awe. It’s the scene that defines eternity. It’s where the entire created order joins in one song, declaring that Jesus, the Lamb of God, is worthy of all praise.

What we see in these verses isn’t just a picture of heaven’s worship. It’s a glimpse of God’s ultimate plan being fulfilled. Everything that exists, everything that’s ever been made, finds its purpose in recognizing and glorifying Jesus Christ. This passage brings the story of redemption to its crescendo.

I also believe that reflecting on what the apostle John saw as he witnessed this scene of heavenly worship can shape the way we see our lives, our struggles, and the nature of our hope in Christ.

  • Your Nightly Prayer: Evening Prayers for Christian... - Thanksgiving in Times of Waiting

Waiting is one of life’s greatest challenges. In our evening prayer and devotional, we reflect on the fact that whether we’re standing in line at the DMV or waiting for a breakthrough from God, our patience can wear thin quickly. For Clarence Haynes Jr., this struggle hits close to home — because waiting, especially when it feels indefinite, tests both our faith and our character.

At the DMV, we can count the numbers and estimate our turn. But when it comes to God’s timing, there’s no ticket to track or clock on the wall. The “waiting place,” as Clarence calls it, can feel uncertain and even painful. Yet waiting is not a pause in our spiritual journey — it’s part of the journey itself.

Scripture reminds us that God’s timing rarely matches ours. Joseph waited 22 years for his dream to be fulfilled. Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years for their promised son. Humanity waited 4,000 years for the coming of the Messiah. In every case, God made a promise — and He kept it. His delays were not denials but divine preparation.

So how do we endure the waiting? Paul gives us the blueprint in Romans 12:12:
Be joyful. Be patient. Be faithful.

And the key that ties all three together is thanksgiving.
Gratitude fuels joy because it reminds us of what God has already done. It builds patience by grounding us in His past faithfulness. It strengthens faithfulness in prayer because we know He has never failed before — and He won’t start now.

Thanksgiving in the waiting place doesn’t mean pretending the delay is easy. It means choosing to trust that God’s timing is perfect, His motives are good, and His promises never fail. Even when you can’t see it yet, you can thank Him for what He’s already working out behind the scenes.

    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
    — Romans 12:12

    MAIN TAKEAWAYS

    • Waiting is not wasted time; it’s part of God’s process for shaping your faith.

    • God’s timeline often differs from ours, but He always fulfills His promises.

    • Romans 12:12 gives us a framework for enduring the waiting: joy, patience, and faithfulness.

    • Thanksgiving is the key that sustains all three, keeping our hearts focused on God’s goodness.

    • Even when answers are delayed, we can trust that God’s results are always good.
