    Works of the flesh
(Galatians 5:19) The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery
    Fruit of the Spirit
(Galatians 5:22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
    Set free by Jesus
(Galatians 5:1) It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
We must have a Supernatural New Nature
(Ezekiel 36:26-27) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (27) And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
(Deuteronomy 30:6) The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
(2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Fruit of the Spirit is easy
    1. Stay close to the vine (Jesus)
(John 15:1-4) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. (2) He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. (3) You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. (4) Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
    2. Planted by the river
(Psalm 1:1-3) Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, (2) but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. (3) That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
    3. In step with the Holy Spirit
(Galatians 5:16, 25) So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (25) Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
(Rom 8:1-2,5,14) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. (5) Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (14) For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
    Life Group Questions and Prayer:
    1. Are you working hard or relaxing in God to produce the fruit of the Spirit?
    2. Which areas of good fruit are you growing in?

    The language of ‘No Faith’
(Numbers 13:27,31-33) They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. (31) But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” (32) And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. (33) We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”
    The language of ‘Faith’
(Numbers 13:30, 14:24) Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said,“We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”(14:24) But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.
How to build the language of faith?
    1. Believe that God is able and I can do all things through Christ
(Philippians 4:13) I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
    2. Read God’s Promises for yourself
(Romans 10:17) Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
    3. Confess God’s Promises (Say the same thing)!
(Romans 10:10-11) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (11) As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
    Life Group Questions and Prayer:
1 – What are some key differences in our language when we have faith, and when we don’t?
2 – What are some practical ways we can build our faith?
3 – What do you need to change to speak more faith?

The laugh of unbelief and the laugh of faith
    The laugh of unbelief
(Genesis 17:15-16) God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. (16) I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
(Genesis 18:10-15) Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. (11) Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. (12) So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?” (13) Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ (14) Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” (15) Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.” But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”
    The laugh of faith
(Genesis 21:1-6) Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised. (2) Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. (3) Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him. (4) When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him. (5) Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. (6) Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”
How to laugh the laugh of faith
Learn to laugh at yourself (because you are funny)
(Romans 12:3) For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
    Learn to laugh with God
(Psalm 2:4) The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
(Job 39:22) It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; it does not shy away from the sword.
Let God fill you with laughter
(Job 8:21) He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
(Psalm 126:1-3) A song of ascents. When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. (2) Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” (3) The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

  • Run Your Race!
    2014/7/6
    Pastor Richard Welsh
    Categories:
    Video: http://hongkong.mylifehouse.com/tv/message/run-your-race
(1 Corinthians 9:24-27) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. (25) Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. (26) Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. (27) No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
    1. Run to Win
(Hebrews 12:1-3) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, (2) fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (3) Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
    2. Run with purpose
    3. Run without fear of disqualification
(Proverbs 1:7) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
(Proverbs 2:1-8) My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, (2) turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— (3) indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, (4) and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, (5) then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. (6) For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (7) He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, (8) for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Exodus 14:10-16 (NIV) As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord, 11 and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt? 12 Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’”13 But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! 16 Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.
When life gets tough, there are 3 things we need to know:
    1. Be Still
Palms 46:10 (NLT) “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
    2. Move on
Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT) No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[d] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
    3. God is always with you
Joshua 1:9 (NLT) This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

This is God’s will for you
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
    2. This is your good medicine
Proverbs 17:22 (NLT) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
    3. This will give you strength to endure the trials
Nehemiah 8:10b (NIV) Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NIV) Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
Hebrews 12:2 (NLT) We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
    4. This will inspire others and attract them to come to God
Acts 2:46-47 (NLT) They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity — all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
John 15:9-11 (NLT) “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!

(Ephesians 2:8-10) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— (9) not by works, so that no one can boast.(10) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
    1. God is an artist!
(Genesis 1:4,31) God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. (31) God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning —the sixth day.
    2. We are works of art (his masterpieces)
(Psalm 139:14-17) I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (15) My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. (16) Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (17) How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
    3. We are living art (interactive 3D models)
(Romans 12:1-3) Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. (2) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (3) For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
    4. The art is most valuable after the artist dies
(Revelation 20:12) And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

  • Why I Love Mary, the Mother of Jesus

    Categories:
    Video: http://hongkong.mylifehouse.com/tv/message/why-i-love-mary-the-mother-of-jesus
(Luke 1:26-28) In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
(2 Chronicals 16:9a) For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
    2. She was a worshiper
(Luke 1:38) “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
(Luke 1:46-49) And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.
    3. She pondered all these things
(Luke 1:29) Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
(Luke 2:19) But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
(Romans 10:17) Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
    4. She was always proud of Jesus (in spite of the opposition and criticism).
(John 19:25-27) Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. (26) When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” (27) and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
