Light shines naturally, and darkneww cannot overcome it. We are called to be light in a dark world.

Christians need to remember who we are and what we are called to do. Jesus overcomes the world...He wins! The gates of hell cannot hold back the Gospel.

There is nothing we can do to thwart the plan of God. He always accomplishes his will, and he is ever faithful to those upon whom he has set his pleasure and love.

A covenant (and a sign to accompany it) is now firmly established by God with Abraham and his offspring. This covenant is forever.

Eldership is important to God, and thus should be important to every local church and every Christian. Elders are to oversee, protect, shepherd and teach God's church.

Human ingenuity will not, on its own, bring to pass the promises of God. Faith, trust, and patience will. Our God is seen and he can be found.

The LORD ensures his promises through covenant, and we receive those promises by grace alone through faith alone.

Abram demonstrates his role as "God's man." Even when he has earned a reward, he will not allow himself to be blessed by evil men. Our alliances and friendships matter as Christ-followers.

Human scheming rarely brings about the will of God. Trust is what God is calling for, and obedience to his commands.
