Our special guest this week is Helen McNamara - Occupational therapist specialising in sleep, wellbeing, and behaviour change.
Helen works in both the NHS and private sector, combining her
professional skills as an occupational therapist, her training and
experience working in sleep, and her study of behaviour change to enable individuals to build a better sleep habit. Helen believes that supporting people to apply change in a personalised way, which acknowledges individual circumstances, is key to sustaining healthy habits and routines to improve sleep and wellbeing.
Helen has recently launched her own private practice providing CBTi for individuals both online and in person, as well as small group workshops to educate and support better sleep.
During this epiosde Helen talks about how she came to occupational therapy later in life after working and volunteering in a range of different areas.
She explains what occupational therapy is and how her previous
roles led to her choosing sleep as her specialist area. Helen also tries to answer common questions about sleep disorders and where to start when trying to improve sleep.
