Episode 13 Bulgarian Vocal Warm Ups - with Amy Tankard

We have a very musical episode for you this week, with a very musical guest - Amy Tankard (singer/songwriter a.k.a Amy Alex). She talks to us about a couple of her songs (which we are lucky enough to hear), her writing process, and how she originally fell in love with music.  

We also discuss ethical segment-naming practices, hiccup cures and scaring little children (accidentally of course). Lucasz thinks of the perfect last meal to request and Jo bring’s us a tricky Fact of Life! 

Episode 12 Faux Pas & Fox Paws

Hey threadheads!

This week we have two brand new segments with new themes that definitely weren’t finished at the 11th hour and dropped into the edit just in the nick of time. We run a tight ship around here thank you very much!

We talk about the latest music we’ve been getting into, and how not to behave at a concert. Jo tells us all about her cooking adventure with a contestant from MasterChef. Lucasz tries to challenge Jo with some riddles, but are they all too easy, or is Jo just too good?... Or has she just heard them all before?

We round things out discussing disgusting foods, a workplace faux pas, and a fact about foxes. Enjoy!

Episode 11 Little Trampoline Arms

In this week’s bird-heavy episode we get a bit political as we talk about watching outdated movies with a modern lens in our Loose Threads segment. 

We each discuss an all time favourite episode of tv in Tea & Television.

In What’s Not New With You? we talk about what we used to get up to after getting home from school. We look at a Scrubs-inspired Life’s Big Question. And after hearing this week’s Fact of Life, Lucasz confuses even himself and your poor hosts are both left a little dumber because it.

Episode 10 Who is Eric Smith?! - with Michelle Emin

Special guest Michelle Emin (science) returns for our 10th episode!

Continuing on a Loose Thread from a couple of episodes ago we talk difficult names, more fun words to say, plus hard words to spell and misplaced accents!

In Tea & Television (the name of which Jo is still not happy with! In fact if you’ve got any suggestions for name of the film and tv segment that somehow ties in with the name of the podcast - please let us know!) we discuss why we love The Umbrella Academy so much!

In a curious new segment Michelle tells us about her favourite scientific facts: today it is surrounding bubbles.

And just between me and you-… no, sorry, you and me…or is it “you and I”? No, wait… nothing sounds right any more. They all sound wrong now… ah, forget it!

Episode 9  Interrupting Cows

After some time away Jo returns home to tell us all about it, as well as some print-making she’s been working on. And Lucasz talks about a recent music video he animated along with a couple of music recommendations. (He also experiments with a code-word to refer to the one thing we don’t talk about on this podcast but finds it to be …problematic.) We revisit a previous Life’s Big Question though it doesn’t quite pass the smell test.

This week’s T&T is quick fire reviews (sort of) for a bunch of films including Frozen 2, Dante’s Peak, Top End Wedding (and what is Lucasz’s problem with The Incredibles?)

And we play another absolutely thrilling game of 6 Degrees - linking two random movies we’ve watched recently, using only our brains and the useless information stored therein.

We round out the show with a nice uplifting Fact of Life from Jo.

We play Lucasz’s favourite childhood boardgame much to the vexation of Jo.

Episode 7  What’s Not New with You?

Getting straight into our famous segment Tying Up Loose Threads, we touch on IDAHOBIT Day and Jo takes us through some gender-inclusive language. We introduce a new segment - What’s Not New With You? (hey, that’s the name of this episode!) Jo tells us about her first ever job plus a story from her much more exciting second job!

Episode 6 Adventures in Plumbing

This week Lucasz realises the truth about when he was born. Jo tells the plumbing related misadventure teased in last episode.

We talk 50 First Dates and Once Upon a Time (ellipsis) in Hollywood* in the segment that is definitely called anything but Tea & Television. 

We play our first game of ‘6 Degrees’ linking two of the more unlikely film and tv shows we talk about - without help from google or imdb! Can you work it out faster than us? (Oh I got it! I worked it out already, too bad.)

Life’s Big Questions leads to yet another another story from Lucasz about his time living in Canada - has he even done anything else?!

Episode 4 Olive Offal - with Michelle Emin

Our first guest joins us via the internet which causes a few sound issues, but we’re all grownups here and I know we can deal with it in a mature fashion. Though it does make for quite the shambolic introduction.

Michelle Emin (from science) joins us to tell us how she’s saving the world. We talk Popeye, satellites, and discover the truth about how many continents there are.

We cover Netflix’s Cheer and a bit of Deadpool (a natural pairing). Michelle tries to stump us with her own Life’s Big Question but then answers it pretty well herself (it’s a good one!) 

Jo has good cheerleading related Fact of Life for us. And then we drop the ball again right on the finishing line. No cheers for us.
