Lifesaurus.

Maje Saba is the host of the i98FM Drive Show in Wollongong and has been for the past 24 years. He is also a podcaster.

Maje is a household name in the Illawarra region of NSW (one hour south of Sydney), but despite the controversial outspoken radio persona he holds a lot of his cards very close to his chest. He doesn't want anyone knowing his age, and he never talks about the 24 years he spent relishing in the radio fame of a pre social media era - all of which we naturally discuss today.

We talk about why he refuses to accept the fitness stereotype of a Dad, what it was like to be a radio personality before social media existed, why you don't have as much time as you think, why you should have a family if you can, and plenty more. Share/and leave a review :)

Liam Heinzel is a soil sampler, stunt rider and founder of Mad Style Moto - a stunt riding community and e-commerce store.

Liam dials in from his family farm in Eugowra, Central West NSW, sitting in front of his Mad Style Moto van which has become famous as the counter weight for his mobile backflip ramp. He has managed to build a massive social media following of 100K+ in the past year, and seems to be only just getting started. I believe this is off the back of his individuality and authenticity which has allowed him to connect deeply with his fanbase.

In this episode we talk about how he was able to land his first backflip, his vision for stunt riding in Australia, why you shouldn’t be risk averse especially when you’re young, how he gained just under 100 thousand Instagram followers in a year, what it’s really like to start an ecommerce store and plenty more.

Emma Smith is a radio journalist at i98FM - the Illawarra's #1 rated radio station. She's also the co-host of the very popular Interview Boss podcast, and freelance writer for several publications.

As a news journalist, how is it that you can dive so deep into what seems to be a bottomless pit of negative news, and remain a happy human being? And, how does one find the energy to also contribute to a rapidly growing podcast brand, which in the early years may seem like a result-less effort?

In this episode we talk about growing up in regional NSW and the different life perspectives that provides, how to compartmentalise negative news and not let it ruin your day, what people don’t know about starting a side hustle and plenty more.

Welcome to Lifesaurus!

Lifesaurus is a play on the concept of a thesaurus, which is a collection of synonyms – different ways of saying a word which has the same meaning. I look at a lifesaurus as a collection of lifeonyms – unique approaches to life formed by experiences and attitudes, which can be used to confront the same thing we all experience; life.

I really do love the thought that an insight, a simple quote, or a new way of looking at things can change the direction of your life. It’s happened to me on multiple occasions.

Expect to hear from interesting people with extraordinary jobs, people with boring jobs who have extraordinary lives, people who are trying something new and people who have been doing the same thing for decades – there’s something you can learn from all walks of life.
