The sermon is hosted by the pastors of Bodmin and Liskeard as Gary  McCormick preaches on his long struggle of his journey to God and how  his life has led to where he is today. The sermon begins with Mark  talking on how he met Gary on a course and how he was able to reach Gary  with just a verse.

Gary talks on his obstacles of fear, addiction, lack of trust for  many years, and how he was the class reject who couldn’t trust anyone,  was involved in drugs and alcohol, and went to prison and was a  hypocrite, but through the love and care of God was forgiven so that he  could take off his filthy rags, and no longer be a slave to fear.

He calls us to have faithfulness in God, and asks us what are we  using to avoid our real struggles and to make the pain easier, using  passages from John, Zechariah and Colossians. He calls us to also take  off our filthy rags, because “if he can do it for me he can do it for  you” -Gary.

Pastor Pete Godfrey preaches the first sermon of the Series called  Freedom talking about the burden that we have of sin as Christians and  how we often have good intentions that we don’t stick to as if we have  another person who is controlling our actions in the opposite manner to  how we want it to. He talks about how we were born from Adam and were  therefore born in sin, and that we need to transfer to the Jesus jar to  avoid spending our lives being polluted by sin. He uses Paul’s teachings  in Romans to assist his sermon.

Pastor John Townley preaches the final sermon on the book of James  talking about the privilege that we have of being able to pray and how  we often focus on what we say when we pray rather than focus on the  importance of who we’re praying to. He talks about how we as Christians  need to devote ourselves to prayer and the conversation to God, likening  it to the use of mobile phones in both positives and the limitations of  it; warning us to be weary of the problem of non-belief by stepping  into the presence of Jesus. John includes references to many points in  the Bible, including James, Paul’s letters to the churches and the story  of Thomas following Jesus’ Crucifixion.

As we celebrate the dedication of Thaddeus Joel Horwell, Daniel  Townley preaches on the many names of Thaddeus in the Bible. From  reading Phil 2: 5-11 and Mark 3: 13-19, we begin to understand the story  of Thaddeus and his massive display of courage as he took Judas’ place  in discipleship, not only giving up his home, family and business, but  living in the shadow of the man who betrayed Jesus. We learn that like  all the disciples, God specifically selected a man on action  who would  witness, listen to and emulate the Glory of God.

“Thaddeus the disciple stood firm and continued to boldly declare the truth about Jesus Christ”.

“The important question is not whether or not you are on mission, but whose mission you are on”.

Pastor Jon Langford preaches on the Christmas story and how we strive for our Christmases to be perfect and enjoyable for everyone, so much so that we lose sight of what a truly perfect Christmas should be.

Pastor Pete Godfrey preaches on forgetting our humanly made plans, and how even though we all made plans for how things work on our own, they often do not go to plan and we need God in order for it to work.
