We find a theme within the text that Jesus had spoken to the disciples about on two previous occasions – His impending death, burial, and resurrection.

The Lord goes into a bit more detail and there appears to be a bit more emphasis this time. Apparently, Jesus sought to convey this message in a way they could embrace.

: We need to fulfill all aspects of the Great Commission! Leading them to Christ and Baptizing them is step 1 and 2. But what about the 3rd part of the Commission? Discipleship!

Instruments of Missions: God uses converted people, consecrated people, called people, clean people and commited people.

And of some have compassion, making a difference:

Are we willing to let go of the old life of sin, and the pleasure it brings, in order to follow Jesus? This is a decision that should never be taken lightly.

It is the one decision that has eternal implications.

The choice we make regarding Jesus will last throughout eternity.

The life we live on earth will follow us beyond the grave.

As we move through this passage, we will discover the great hindrance wealth can present in the lives of many. Like the rich, young ruler, many want the promise of eternal life without the sacrifice necessary to receive it.

The Ideal Church

This is a simple passage, but it reveals profound truth that needs to be applied in our everyday lives. As we consider the factors involved in this encounter, I trust we will be challenged and encouraged to pray for our children as we seek to point them to the Lord.
