Will he be able to learn the skills he needs to control his temper? Or will his quills continue to cause chaos?

Look for other books in the Punk and Friends collection, including Punk the Skunk Learns to Say Sorry. Parents, counselors, and teachers love that the valuable life lessons in these books are taught in such a fun way, kids don’t even realize they’re learning. There are no lectures here, just funny stories that kids can relate to.

This book is geared toward children from preschool to second grade, ages 3-8. It’s never too early to talk about important social skills. A list of coping strategies, as well as teacher and parent discussion materials on these topics, are included in the back of the book:

    Coping with anger
    Being a true friend
Practicing your favorite coping skills so they come naturally when needed
Recognizing when you need to change
    Calming down
Helping others who are struggling with strong emotions
The Punk and Friends books are a great way to laugh and learn together.

  • The Elephant in the Room: A Lockdown Story by Alicia Stenard Read by E3D
"How do I teach my students a lockdown drill without fear?"

As a kindergarten teacher I struggled with teaching my students the procedures of a lockdown drill. I knew they needed to react quickly and quietly, but I worried about frightening them. Being prepared is essential, but it wasn't necessary to put terrifying images into their minds for them to take the drills seriously.

I became frustrated at the lack of materials available that would protect my students from being traumatized by the implications of a lockdown drill. As a teacher, that reality was difficult enough, but it felt wrong to place that emotional burden on my students.

I decided to write my own lockdown story. It worked like a charm! My story created a sense of urgency, without creating a sense of fear.

The Elephant in the Room: A Lockdown Story is a frolicking tale of circus animals, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a fun-loving teacher.

In this book children are protected from the harsh realities of lockdown drills while learning life-saving procedures.

Teachers can use this book to teach and practice lockdown procedures without putting frightening images into the minds of their students.

Parents and grandparents can use this book to reinforce lockdown procedures learned at school.

The Elephant in the Room: A Lockdown Story is a light-hearted story about a serious subject for children ages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, second grade

A rhyming story of friendship for anyone who’s said a “big adieu”.

Marie’s Big Adieu acknowledges the fear and grief of those “big goodbyes” and validates the child’s struggles in new situations.

The beautiful illustrations and poignant poetry will connect to the heart of any child who has moved away from a best friend. A perfect gift for a family moving with children, ex-pats, immigrants, or anyone who’s said a “big adieu” to a best friend.
