In Romans 7 we Paul describing the internal battle of someone who loves God but can't do what they want. But the big question is, who is Paul describing, and what does this mean for us as Christians today?

In Romans 6, Paul considers the question, can grace lead to sin? That is if we believe we are saved by grace not works then are we likely to not worry about how we live? Paul's answers is an emphatic no on two counts. Firstly, by grace, we have been united to Christ in his death and resurrection which means we live resurrection lives now which empowers us to flee sin. Secondly, in choosing to put our faith in Jesus we've made the decision to become slaves of God which means we are empowered to choose righteous living over sinful living. Of course this side of heaven we still fall short of our true natures in Christ, but we ought to be on the trajectory of holiness as Christians, not increasing sin.

As we continue our series looking at the book of Romans, today we consider the question of the relationship between Adam, Jesus and us. Looking at Paul's argument in Romans 5:12-21 we see that we inherit our sin from Adam and our righteousness from Jesus. A tricky and theologically full message.
