Line Noise

It may be 10 months or so to Primavera Sound 2026 but it’s never too early to get planning. On this special Line Noise, Ben Cardew and Johann Wald look at the best electronic music in the Primavera Sound 2026 line up, from live legends to weird sh*t. Line Noise comes with the support of Cupra.

Emma-Jean Thackray's second album Weirdo is a modern classic and if you don't like it, you're wrong. We spoke to Emma-Jean before her recent Barcelona gig about pitch-dark humour, Jazz Club, reclaiming the word "weirdo" and the saving power of music. Photo by Lewis Vorn. Ben Cardew spoke to Kevin Foakes - aka Strictly Kev aka DJ Food about Telepathic Fish: Trawling The Early 90s Ambient Underground - a new compilation album tracing the history of South London’s premier ambient party. They spoke about the dreaded “chill out” term, the influence of The Orb, chatting to Aphex, the spirit of London and people dancing to ambient DJs. Line Noise comes to you with the support of Cupra.

On the latest Line Noise, I spoke to Guy Brewer aka Carrier (and formerly one third of Commix and all of Shifted) about insane drum & bass production skill, Cambridge Hardcore, Berlin and Antwerp, primal feelings and a lot more. His debut album as Carrier, Rhythm Immortal, is released on October 24. Line Noise comes with the support of Cupra.

I decided to dig into the archives to pull out the Radio Primavera Sound interview we did with BABII in July 2019, around the release of her fantastic album HiiDE. We talked about the sound of poisoning, being a carnivore, Margate heatwaves, Escape Room music and more

Welcome back to Line Noise. After a bit of a summer break, we gently ease you back into things - well, not really - with an interview with Nu-UKG duo YU QT, aka Darryl Reid and James Cooper, who recently blew my - and many others' - mind with their devastating take on 2-Unlimited, Y'all Ready For Dis. Obviously we spoke about that but also about working with MCs, the cross-generational appeal of UKG , being closet romantics and a lot more. I hope you enjoy it. Look out for lots more from Line Noise - including video! - in the coming months. Line Noise comes to you with the support of Cupra.

Johann Wald and Mar Vallverdú went toe to toe with Confidence Man at Primavera Sound 2025, to talk 3am, the magic hour, Madonna, The KLF, crazy ideas in your Notes app and more. Line Noise comes with the support of Cupra. Photo by @leafhopper

Mar Vallverdú and Ben Cardew ended up a touch star struck, when they interviewed The Dare at Primavera Sound 2025. Topics included: which member of Girls does Harrison Patrick Smith think he is? Working with Charli XCX (naturally), being funny, bad taste and more. Line Noise comes with the support of Cupra. Photo by @leafhopper

Ben Cardew spoke to mad miran at Primavera Sound 2025 about the perils of DJing back to back, disturbing genres, John Talabot, life in Barcelona and more. Line Noise comes with the support of Cupra.

Ben Cardew spoke to Sam Barker about his album of the year, Stochastic Drift, dance music without drums and un-footing his audience, live at Primavera Sound 2025. Line Noise comes with the support of Cupra. Photos by @leafhopper
