Link To The Cast

Dave managed to get home safe from England, but he is still stuck in the middle of nowhere (his grandparent's house).

- Dave gives us a rundown on his latest adventure

- Mark has been playing with strangers on the internet

- How small is the Mini NES? (It's very small)

- More talk about the Switch

- We run down our thoughts on the Games Awards nominees

- How much did EA cock up on the release of Titanfall 2?

For this week's book club we begin our journey into discussing what will be the game of the year. To begin, we look at a game that no one expected to be good, let alone one of the most adrenaline-fueled, intense, metal-as-fuck games of the year. Of course, we're talking about DOOM (2016).

With scheduling conflicts preventing us from our original plan, the boys are back with your regularly scheduled Cast!

This week

-Dave saw I, Daniel Blake, which it turns out is not the ideal movie to watch before a weekend of graps fun, but is stunning nonetheless.

-Mark lives the gimmick of being behind the curve by finally getting around to Stranger Things.

-No Man's Sky's phantom tweet.

-GAME's Switch pre-orders hit a snag.

And this week in the Book Club, we're gonna talk about one of Dave and Mark's favourite games ever, the 3D platformer by which all others are judged: Super Mario 64

Finally, we have come to the end of SHOCKTOBER™ and boy, are we ending in style. Released to little fanfare by the unheard of 7780s Studio, we would soon realise it was a joint venture between Hideo Kojima and Gulliermo Del Toro on new Silent Hill project. An absolutely terrifying experience that showcased the new Fox Engine, plus would also show the fractured relationship between Kojima and Konami - this week, we talk about P.T.

It's yer boys! Link to the Cast is back! On the show this week:

Is Gears of 4 any good?

Mark's journey into the Witness.

Guardians of the Galaxy teaser AAAAAAGGGGHHH

The new Adam Curtis documentary.

Dave finds a way to get FIFA 17 in the news again.

All that and the rest of this week's video game news. This week's book club continues Shocktober, where we look at famous horror games. This week is the turn of innovative Gamecube cult classic Eternal Darkness.

They call them THE LADS Michael… Link to the Cast is back, and in our 40 the episode we’re asking the hard questions:

- How did Mark enjoy his trip to Westport?

- How good is Mark at pretending to drown?

- How long can Dave talk about Marvel before going off on one about Iron Man 3?

- Are WWE 2K17 and Mafia III competitors for the okay-est Game of The Year?

- Is Mafia III and elaborate piece of IRA propaganda?

As well as all that, we break down the week in video news and manage to squeeze in our (spoiler-free) thoughts on Luke Cage and Westworld.

In our Shocktober Book Club this week we’re discussing Resident Evil 4, a pivotal entry in the long running Capcom series in a number of ways, and to do so we’ll be joined by Chaz Ali, gameplay programmer at Bossa Studios, the studio behind Surgeon Simulator and the beautifully weird I Am Bread. Chaz is a big Resi fan and has a lot to add to what was a very enjoyable chat this week. *starts at 1:26:24*
