Susannah is best known for her vibrant landscapes, her floral work, and abstract paintings. She paints… a lot. In this episode we talk about what happens when things just don’t flow as easy as they normally do. We’re talking about being creatively blocked or stuck, and Susannah shares some ideas about what you can do to work through these periods.

This episode is inspired by a series of newsletters I wrote about how I was struggling to take time to rest, and I was kinda blown away by the number of replies I received from these emails.. It seems that I wasn’t the only one who was resistant to resting.
In this episode we are going to talk about what rest is, why it’s important, and why it can feel hard to prioritize taking time to rest.

Back when I was an elementary teacher, annual planning was a huge and important part of my classroom curriculum each year. A strong plan for the year meant I could easily focus on the things I needed to get ready for each week, and would keep me on task to achieve and teach everything I wanted to cover. It’s funny then that the first few years of focussing on my full-time art career that i shied away from annual planning. I think part of it was that I was unusual about where I was headed. However, once I sat down and got into annual planing for my maker business magical things started to happen. I started to get so much more done and felt a lot better about the day-to-day running of my business.
