Titel: Das Schloss von Franz Kafka

Autor:: Alessandro Dallmann

Erzähler: Michael Freio Haas

Format: Unabridged

Spieldauer: 20 mins

Sprache: Deutsch

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 04-07-17

Herausgeber: Kompendio

Kategorien: Arts & Entertainment, Visual Arts

Title: Curators and Collections

Author: Sarah James, Nicholas James

Narrator: Denise Kahn

Format: Unabridged

Length: 2 hrs and 31 mins

Language: English

Release date: 03-23-17

Publisher: Cv Publications

Genres: Arts & Entertainment, Visual Arts

Publisher's Summary:

The first edition of Curators and Collections, published in 1997, was based on interviews and features published in the quarterly review, Cv Journal of Art and Crafts (1988-1991). These recorded the launch of the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 1991, the construction of Tate Modern in 1997, as well as exploring special collections at the National Gallery, Courtauld Gallery, The British Museum, and Royal Photographic Society. The book contained a comprehensive guide to public and private collections in England, Scotland, and Wales, which is revised and updated in this volume. The landscape of the arts has radically transformed in the intervening years, with a tremendous growth in audiences for contemporary art. The study recognizes the important role of private foundations and the activity of curators and gallerists in their independent initiatives.

Subtitle: Cv/Visual Arts Research, Book 149

Author: Edward Lucie-Smith

Narrator: Denise Kahn

Format: Unabridged

Length: 56 mins

Language: English

Release date: 12-15-16

Publisher: Cv Publications

Ratings: 2 of 5 out of 2 votes

Genres: Arts & Entertainment, Visual Arts

Explores the structure and development of the Pre-Raphaelite movement in the mid-19th century and works that figure among the most enduring and generally popular in British art. Renowned writer and art critic Edward Lucie-Smith contributes a study of the brotherhood of seven artists and their interconnection and intricate links with the social establishment of the time.

James Cahill has a special interest in the movement, having studied Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Holman Hunt. He reviews a major exhibition of 150 works at Tate Britain launched in September 2012.

"I think what I want to do is to follow a trail that leads, through many twists and turns, from the religious revival of the early 19th century to Blue Period Picasso, then to Surrealism. It may take in the Children of the Raj and the discovery of Japan along the way. It leads from rather rigid moralism, to conscious immoralism, and then at last to Freud/Dali." (Edward Lucie-Smith, May 2012)

Title: Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Beaton: A Diamond Jubilee Celebration, Victoria & Albert Museum

Subtitle: Through the Lens, Book 3

Author: Marina Vaizey

Narrator: Denise Kahn

Format: Unabridged

Length: 6 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-24-16

Publisher: Cv Publications

Genres: Arts & Entertainment, Visual Arts

Publisher's Summary:

The work of the photographer, theatrical designer, narcissist, snob, careerist, and exceptionally talented Cecil Beaton (1904-1980), including 18,000 vintage prints, negatives and transparencies, contact sheets and 45 books of cuttings are at the Victoria & Albert Museum. They have all been brilliantly culled for the alluring and significant exhibition of some of Beaton's royal portraits, billed as A Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

Sir Roy Strong put Beaton firmly back on the map after he had gone out of fashion with a dazzling 1968 compilation at the National Portrait Gallery. He is firmly of the view that Beaton's imagery of the royals saved the royals as far as the public were concerned after the debacle of the abdication. Indeed, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother wrote to Beaton in 1963 thanking him for "producing us as really quite nice and real people". "Producing" is the operative verb: Beaton staged the royals. The V&A's presentation shows us just how much Beaton has made his view of the royals ours.
