    A Must Read
After listening to this book you will have a new found respect for Mary Kay Ash. She is a true leader. She lived these principals, built an amazing company and made a positive impact on the lives of women all over the world.
    Inspiring Mary Kay
Mary Kay was an inspiring women well before her time. Of particular interest to me was how she stayed true to her core values as she grew from a 2 person business to an enormous multi-national.
    Such an awesome story!
I was interested in becoming a Mary Kay consultant and I wanted to know more before I Dove into it. A lot of companies say certain things about themselves but then they don't walk the talk. Reading this I can see that Mary Kay is a class all unto itself! I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who wants to read something inspiring and motivating!
    Amazing book
Absolutely loved this book! The narrator did a great job, very pleasant to listen to.

Good book, find a new narrator PLEASE!
If you like...a narrator...that, talks. Like. William, Shatner. Then. you will like, this book.
    So ANNOYING!!!
    a braggart tone
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This was a great story. I can't imagine what the author went through to develop the life skills he teaches about. But over and over, I felt like the author was more interested in telling of the amazing things he's done than teaching a lasting lesson. The narrator sounds like he's narrating a car commercial the entire time as well. I really want to like this book, but the braggart tone is a contradiction to the reasons for authenticity that the author is trying to convey.
How could the performance have been better?
    different narrator
    Any additional comments?
I got a lot out of the book, but the words didn't hold value because I didn't feel like he was interested in teaching anything. He was interested in speaking on his greatness. This book doesn't know whether or not it wants to be an autobiography.

In Confidence, Kanter, a former editor of Harvard Business Review and an advisor to prominent corporations and community organizations, such as IBM and the Girl Scouts, offers a new theory and practice of success in which winning and losing are not mere episodes but self-perpetuating trajectories. She demonstrates why organizations of all types may be brimming with talent but not winners, and why character, perseverance, and a winning tradition count more than money and superstars.
    Critic Reviews:
"Kanter, a professor at the Harvard Business School and author of numerous books, delivers valuable insights on the importance of confidence to success and on how organizations can create practices that build that much needed asset." (Publishers Weekly)

    Little insight, very shallow
This should be listed as a young adult book. It is very repetitive and light weight - the same (mostly sports) examples repeated again and again with few specifics and little insight.
    Unsatisfying
Generally an uninspiring book from an author capable of better. Stretches and overuses sports examples (coming across as a latecoming "new fan", rather than as a student or researcher into the power of sports-as-metaphor). Repetitive to a fault.
    Very solid
This is a very solid book. Like all business books there's parts where it lags, and you sometimes might think she's overusing certain case studies, but this is a good analysis of a difficult topic, well-written and well-read. I listened to this on the beach in Mexico and never once regretted the choice.
    Interesting but unstructured
Some good stories but I don't know what to do with them. I don't know what Confidence is supposed to mean, as here it seems to be used to identify anything that led to a positive outcome
What was good was great but too long to say it!
This was good but needed mire substance of application.. more value less content shorter time!

Title: Martin Luther King, Jr. on Leadership
Subtitle: Inspiration and Wisdom for Challenging Times
    Author: Donald T. Phillips
    Narrator: Nelson Runger
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 13 hrs and 30 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-15-04
    Publisher: Recorded Books
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 40 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Martin Luther King, Jr. provided inspired leadership during one of the most difficult times in American history. His success as a leader can be broken down into a few basic principles: preparing to lead by listening to others; guiding a movement by encouraging creative, flexible viewpoints; inspiring action by working with people; and ensuring future success by emphasizing a hopeful, compassionate dream.
An indispensable guide to all, Martin Luther King, Jr. on Leadership shows that truly effective leaders avoid coercion by rooting their success in an understanding of others. Nelson Runger's narration moves effortlessly between King's inspiring words and Phillips' practical advice.

    Too much interpretation for me
When Gandhi was asked what is his message to men he said: "my life is my message". The same applies to M.L. King. His story is so extraordinary that it tells itself. the message is in King's words and actions and trying to deduce rules from it is somewhat lacking.
The way this book is constructed is not as a sequential biography, but rather as separate episodes with a lot of interpretation (some good) in the middle.
I did not like the format. It is emphasized as it is an audiobook and it makes it more difficult and wearying to follow.

In times like these, being a great boss can be harder than ever. A Fine Piece of Work
This started out as a book with many ?common-sense? concepts, and evolved into an extremely eye-opening lecture with key set of easy-to-understand rules. I found many of the ideas to be very practical. The ideas were very succinctly communicated, and the use of anecdotes helped to further illustrate these principles. Highly recommded to anyone in a supervisory role.
What I thought about the book
I think the book is must for bosses in all companies or even bosses that have one person working for them. It gives you guidelines to follow if they work for your company. It also throws out the old adage that company change is bad. Anything that can be done to make an employee's environment better for them almost always makes the company better. Some of the ideas present will not work for every company but there is something for everyone.
    Thoughts from a common man
Some of the concepts may be defined as common sense. That being said, one man's common sense is another's epiphany. This book defines the core characteristics of a GREAT boss - the now documented rules of the road. If these tools and rules were followed in most businesses, we would see more productivity and less turnover. Employees would spend less time complaining about the boss and more time thinking about how to win in their market. Even if you implemented one great idea, it would be worth your time.
    Good briefing
The book is a good briefing on dos and don'ts. Could have contained more details, but can be considered adequate for the busy executive.
it's OK very common sense stuff
not the greatest, a lot of common sense things that you should and shouldn't do.

    Flow and Corporate responsibility
Nearly a decade ago I was captivated by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's books "Flow" and "Finding Flow". Here he takes his ideas to the next logical step - moving from the individual to the organization.
This program takes you first through why, and then HOW organizations can get better resuts, how executives can better themselves, and how everyone can be more creative and more rewarded by their jobs. It simply(!) requires creating an environment where flow is more easily achievable.
Yes, most of us probably could find a way to find flow in almost any work situation, with enough practice and thought. But few have the time and focus to achieve this. This book helps the manager see how (and why) to focus their organizations differently, to promote flow. It discusses PERSONAL choices in how we live, and why we live that way, and how changing the environment to promote flow will promote our entire wellbeing.
This is not a "How To" book. It is much more powerful than that, if you bring the right skills and background. Like the book "Learned Optimism", "Good Business" helps you learn and think about yourself, why you function as you do, and how you can change it.
In personal growth, there is no substitute for personal effort. But there are some outstanding guidebooks. They will be different for each of us - but this is one of mine.
    Classic Mihaly
Wish Audible had more from this author. Good summary of his theory of flow in business.
    Lacked Structure
I really liked the ideas in this book but I found myself looking for a but more structure. Ideas seemed to be delivered in no particular order. Would have been nice to build one concept on top of another. Still a good read though
    "Flow" through a business perspective
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the author who coined the term "flow" (moments where you are in peak concentration, immersed and doing what you love and know how to do best), has transposed his ideas to the business world, with tons of examples from companies and leaders that do "Good Business".
Inspiring, the book helps entrepreneurs and managers find their way, turning their companies and departments into flow inducing places.
Although not a breakthrough kind of book, it`s packed with wisdom and can be exactly what one needs to get moving in the right direction and in high gear.

    Publisher's Summary:
What role do Aristotle's four transcendent virtues - truth, beauty, goodness, and unity - play in the workplace? In this program, Tom Morris argues that Aristotle's virtues must be present in our modern business environment if real excellence is to flourish, and shows how we can avert a spiritual crisis in our business lives by looking to the wisdom of the ancient philosophers. As one example, he claims that when management keeps secrets and is less than honest with employees, the morale of the company is damaged. He also asserts that employees must be made to feel that there is an inherent goodness in the business being conducted, if they are going to make their best contribution to the effort. Furthermore, Morris feels that the aesthetics of a workplace need to be accounted for because this enriches the soul and brings out the best in people. Insightful, intriguing, and thought provoking,
If Aristotle Ran General Motors is a compelling and persuasive line of reasoning for a new spirit of openness and humanity in the workplace.
