This author is wonderful at getting you to visualize her characters and scenes

I just tore through this book after I couldn't put down the first one. This author is wonderful at getting you to visualize her characters and scenes. The main story line is very entertaining. However, I found myself getting constantly ticked off at the many inconsistencies in the story, all of which should have been cleared up by a better editor. For instance, at one point in this book the main character is led to a dilapidated hotel/ apartment building in what appears to be a ghetto. Later she is led back to "the same address" and meets a foe at the front desk. Then, suddenly in their altercation - instead of being inside at the front desk where we were just placed in the scene - they are randomly outside in an alleyway. Then the original building they were supposed to be in is called an abandoned factory instead of hotel. Additionally at some point the main female character thinks of getting out of this problem with a random envelope filled with cash from the main male character. Where'd the cash come from? When did he give it to her? Why did she think a goblin trying to rape her would want money? This whole scene bugged me because of the big inconsistencies. Meeting and getting the crown from the queen of the winter fey also had massive scene and plotline inconsistencies. The main character wakes up with the crown on her head in one scene, is wading through snow looking for it in the next, then further on gives up any hope of getting it. Later on in the book she randomly has it in her possession...how'd she get it? I have to say I loved the first book, and was still okay with this story, but the lack of editing drove me CARAZAY.

I was not disappointed and what a great price for so much fun

I stumbled upon this new trilogy. I found the book Fire and Ice for .99 on Amazon and couldn't resist the story line. I was not disappointed and what a great price for so much fun. Therefore, I moved on to Bittersweet. This book, like the first, is full of twists, turns, romance, heartbreak, good versus evil, surprises and mystery. But Bittersweet has abundantly more details and surprises. At times it gets really complicated (and a bit dark) but it continues to hold my interests. The book was really hard to put down given all the twist and turns. I kept finding myself needing to read one more chapter.

Ever Upward!

On the surface, it may seem that "Excelsior" by George H. Sirois is simply going to be a fun read--one of those great little sci-fi gems to be enjoyed as an escape or distraction from everyday real life. While it is definitely one of those great little gems, with the usual good versus evil to save the world themes, I must forewarn you--the undercurrents of the basic overlying theme of "Excelsior" takes the reader far deeper than mere escapism. It is exciting, inspiring, intensely gripping, & even spiritual if one allows one's self to feel it in the soul rather than simply reading it. The world of "Excelsior" grabs you & just doesn't let go. I found myself glued to my Kindle, eagerly anticipating what might be just around the corner on that next page. The excitement & tension continue to ratchet up from beginning to end. To say this book had me breathless at times would be an understatement.

Through the journey of a young man about to graduate high school named Matthew, who's a bit of a loner but is also just hitting his stride in publishing his `Excelsior' comic book series online about the trials & tribulations of the beings on the planet Denab IV, the reader is shown that we all have amazing potential within ourselves. Whether we allow ourselves to fully unlock that inherent potential rather than fearing our own success & how it may change us is in our own hands. Sometimes, in life, we need to take a leap of faith in order to reach our full potential & accomplish all that we are capable of accomplishing.

Did I mention that this fabulous sci-fi novel also has a spiritual element to it? Yes, I did. However, I'm not the type of reader who likes having a book spoiled for them by a reviewer that goes into too much detail, but I will tell you this much--not only is Excelsior the name of a splendidly beautiful sword with a gemstone in the handle that contains the life force of a deity, Excelsior is also a person(s).

Another quality that makes "Excelsior" such an exceptional read is how Mr. Sirois manages to cleverly weave bits of laugh out loud humor into the seriously intense storyline--giving the reader a moment to breathe or possibly eat some leftover peet-za.

The characters are well-developed as is the plot.

Once again the author delivers a good book and leaves you on a cliff hanger!

Once again Hamilton is trying to balance he's life between school, dating, friends, work and being a superhero. It's hard to juggle all that when you are a teenager and being pulled all directions at once.

Your best friend knows your secret how cool is that? Until when you guys get into a big fight. You've ignored your best friend and girlfriend while to balance everything out. Not only that when your best friend tells you about a girl he likes you stop listening and decide for yourself "Hey might not be a bad idea to date her"

Your best friend has been so forgiving before then you break his heart as well as someone else's. He doesn't even know that he can forgive you this time around. Hamilton finally realizes what he's done and tries to apologize but his best friend is not hearing it. This time Hamilton may have gone way too far.

This worries Hamilton a lot since his best friend knows his secret what if he doesn't keep his promise anymore? What if in his blog that he's been writing about these superhero's he decides to tell everyone everything?

Hamilton is trying to save everyone even if his best friend can't see past his anger at the moment. Hamilton has made new friends or should I say old friends from a life he doesn't remember. Slowly getting his memories from a life before hasn't been helping things either.

Things get complicated again especially trying to save your friends. Will they all be okay? Your best friend and girlfriend are in danger do you let the bad guys know your secret to save them?

Only one way to find out you need to read this book after you read the first 3.

Once again the writer pulls me into her world of storytelling, which is why I love this series.

I mean come Superhero's that is being told through a book rather than a graphic novel is nice. I feel I get more of a story going through reading it and no having pictures that can pull away from the story.

Unlike some other series where the story doesn't pick up again until much later this picks up right where it's been left off. I can't wait until the next installment of The Starlight Chronicles.

Series that keeps me coming back for more

I can't explain what it is about this series that has sucked me in so much. On the surface, it doesn't seem like something I would normally like this much. There is more high school drama than I care for, and the spiritual aspect turns me off. Still, I keep coming back for more. The main character is unlikeable, but that only makes me like the book more.

Great ending to great series 4.5 stars

Great ending to great series. 4.5 stars!

This is the last book in the series and while others didn't believe so I felt that it was a great ending. No it's not the ending that I would have chosen but not everything is always black and white. There are always things that must be factored in and I feel that Kira made the decision that worked best for her due to the fact that she is a super Cunduit. I will say that the way that it was written was perfect though which was the main reason that I thought it was great.

As you know from book 3 Kira, Luke and Tristan battled Aldrich and lost. Aldrich got away because Kira had to stop to fight the evil that was trying to escape from inside her. In the process of trying to kill Aldrich, she burnt Tristan until he you could no longer recognize who he was but with her healing powers she was not only able to save him but also gave him back his soul and he is no longer a vampire. The only problem is that he's also lost all of his memories from when he was a vampire which included her.

As I had hoped Pavia is back in this book and yes she is an alley and not an enemy! Yay! I really liked her in book three and was really pleased with the way that she was written in this book as well. She plays a major part in helping Kira, Luke and Tristan.

In this final book of the series Kira has to try and figure out numerous things that are going on around her. First she has the new Tristan who has basically lost a 150 years of his life. He's now a normal 17 year old that has absolutely no one, knows nothing about the modern world and she feels that she needs to protect him. Then there is the council who have, for the first time since the two sides split apart, come together to meet and decide her fate. One side believes that she will protect them as she has in the past but the other feels that she will be catalyst that kills them all. She also has Aldrich, whom she knows that she let get away in order to save herself from the evil that he put inside of her when he gave her his blood. He's out there somewhere and everyone knows that he's coming to get her to either kill her or to finish what he started. Last and most importantly, she has the evil that she can feel growing in her. A dark side that she's finding harder and harder to keep at bay. It's now up to her and Luke to find the answers that are needed to determine if there is a way to fix everything before it's too late.

Dissappointed.......

I love this series but hate how this was done. I am not a Luke fan.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would, it's a great listen from start to finish. It has a building tale of adventure with some paranormal flare sprinkled among the chapters.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the part of Gabrielle showing up back in time the best. Her realization to her environment, the interaction with people (even the not so nice ones) and the imagery.

What about Gabrielle Bakers performance did you like?

Baker is a fantastic linguist and brings life to the story turning it out into another dimension. She was speaking rather slow, so I cranked up the speed to 1.5x for the listen. Took it to New York mode on that one.

Fantastic first novel made into audiobook!

Five stars

This was a great story with a great narrator. So many emotions with this book and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Confusing book

Although things were explained at the end, I spent the whole of the book in confusion.

The reader, although putting in a great deal of feeling the reading was not clear to hear, she either had a lisp or spoke too close to the mike.

Would not recommend this book.
