Alien factions are tearing down the walls of human civilization. Men and women struggle to survive in a universe where humankind is considered an inferior species to all other sentient life. Unknown to her peers, Folami has sent her assassin on a perilous mission that might give them a fighting chance.
Raised as a secret tool for Folami's political schemes, Susan was trained in the ways of the Enforcers from the past, taught to harness the shadow to her will and live as death incarnate. Decent story, great narration.
I received this book from the author. The narration was great, I just didn't get sucked into the story. There were some memorable moments, and overall it wasn't bad.

We dig a little deeper into the world
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes. If you've listened/read the first two books, you'll want this one to conclude many things for you. But also I could have a discussion buddy. Time is a tricky topic, and could be discussed in many angles for hours. The concept of time travel, daily reminders, slices of time, and much more are interesting concepts. They feel like topics I could debate and discuss with friends, based on the world created here. They would be deep and detailed discussions that would lead to more terms and ideas for the world. I really like them. There are moments I'm not 100% clear on details as we learn new aspects to the time traveling, like Chars. I first thought these were the Uproar, but figure out they are different. But, what are they or where from? What draws them to the travelers?
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
This book feels to spend time describing more rules and worries of the traveling. It also feels to be used to raise suspension of the TSTA (Time and Space Travel Agency). It feels slower in action as we learn about the lost and start to question why or how. We see Plaka and Calla do what they do best, heal. But the characters don't feel as personable to me in this story as they did in previous ones. Was it the narrator or the writing? I'm not sure. I didn't feel as drawn to them as I had before.
Was Time for the Lost worth the listening time?
Yes, as it concludes where we left Calla in the second book and shares more of the world and the rumors on TSTA we had heard.
    Any additional comments?
Jamie is new to me and new to the series. This book is from Valcas's POV so it brings in a male voice to tell the perspective. Then the story switches to Calla's POV in the last half, or Part 2 of the story. He does small changes for tones and feel of voices for different people; softer for female, scratch for older man, and proper for formal male speak.
It's been a while since I listened to the previous books. I think because of this the beginning feels larger than I'm ready for. It feels as though I'm getting a brood range of items all at once and not sure what is now and what has happened already. Valcas feels as though his mind is all over the place and makes it harder for me to narrow in on something.
As I went through the book, it felt more and more as a transition to a new plot arc in the series, however it ends like it's the conclusion too.

A must for all comic book fans!
To be truthful, even though I'm a huge fan of all things superhero, I'm no expert when it comes to comic books. I read this because I love C. Dennis Moore and I'd already read and loved "The Further Adventures Of A", another of his comic book story's that is included in his short story collection, Dancing On A Razorblade. This is the story of Snow and Cinder, fairytale, superheroes who work for an organization called The Kingdom. Their latest mission is to find and retrieve former teammate and beloved friend, Alison Wonderland and bring her home safely. Action packed and lovingly written, this book is fun read for all comic book fans. Also, this book cover is awesome!

Made me fall in love with YA all over again
I read this in ONE sitting. I totally forgot how much I enjoy YA books until I picked up Dax Varley's "Bleed," and then its sequel, "Sinful." The author's voice is great and I love the way she makes all the characters distinct and interesting. The story itself? Awesome! I cannot -- cannot -- second guess what this author is going to do with her stories. You simply have to read this.
I enjoyed the relationships the five characters formed and the insight ...
You never really know much about the characters, but you find out swiftly that you donât need to. I enjoyed the relationships the five characters formed and the insight into their personalities. There was a twist and the end. The writing and plot was interesting and unique and I do recommend this book.
    This is a great read!
Is creepy-sweet a thing? Cause those are the two words that come to mind.
    This Is A Great Book!
I loved this book! I was surprised by how rich the world that
Ms. Varley has created was, and how entertaining the characters
are. I enjoyed Bleed so I was sure I would like Sinful, and I was
    right. Highly recommend to everyone.
I voluntarily read an Advance Review Copy of this book.
    Scary, twisty guilty pleasure
I could NOT put Fax Varley's latest book down. The twists and rising suspense just kept coming. No spoiler alert-- you will love it.

See the movie! Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, directed by the visionary Tim Burton and starring Judi Dench, Eva Green and Samuel L Jackson, will be released in summer 2016.
    Critic Reviews:
Praise for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: "A tense, moving, and wondrously strange first novel. The photographs and text work together brilliantly to create an unforgettable story." (John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars)
    Members Reviews:
    Totally wonderful
Would you listen to Tales of the Peculiar again? Why?
Definitely - even if the book wasn't as fun, Simon Callow's reading of it is out of this world!
What did you like best about this story?
The cleverness of the stories and the morality of the characters
Which character as performed by the narrators was your favourite?
All of them, the narration was perfect in every way.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Some of the stories are quite sad, but they usually have an upbeat ending - even the last one which is should supposedly end sadly has a happier ending added by "the editor".
    Any additional comments?
This is such a lovely book to listen to - one of my favourite ever audio books.
A little bit fabulous, each and every one!
Loved hearing Millard's defining collection of the Peculiar Tales. Simon Callow's marvellous treacly, plummy accent fits perfectly.
    TREMENDOUS 5 STAR FUN
This is a fabulous collection of Peculiar Stories, all of which you have never heard the likes. A set of fables come to life and perfectly read by Simon Cowell whom I generally never listen to nor watch because he is the same in everything and usually false and predictable; however, Simon reads this collection delectably and I give him 100% WoW! Well worth a credit and definitely an audible we will listen to time and again. The only story we do not like is Dreams as this is not fantasy but based too much like whareal life America and what happening year in & year out.
Brilliant stories couldn't stop listening to it
My kids and me kept listening to the story in the car even though our journey was long finished. We enjoyed each of the stories in the book and we are looking forward to any future books from Ransom. Keep up the good work.
    Lovely
Very enjoyable. I hope there are more volumes to follow. A pleasure for children and adults alike.

    Publisher's Summary:
Fans of fantastical tales such as the Fablehaven series and The Spiderwick Chronicles will enjoy exploring the Sentinel Archives. Start off, if you dare, by entering through the portal and into the Realm: a land of enchantment and adventure.
At 13, one passes from childhood into teen-hood. For Malakai Ian LeCrue, turning 13 also means coming into an inheritance he wants no part of.
But someone has to take up the mantel of Sentinel, passed down from generation to generation through Kai's family. He hopes this tell-tale mark will simply pass him on by. He has none of the qualifications needed to become part of the secret Sentinel Society. Not like his little 10-year-old sister, Wyndee, who is a regular scholar of Weirdology.
Even Pops, their grandfather, seems sure the Sentinel Mark will go to the younger female sibling in this generation. Until Pops is brutally attacked and Kai is thrust into a world kept hidden from him by his father who disappeared over a year ago somewhere in the wilderness.
Now the only way to help save Pops and Kai's family is to enter this mysterious world through a portal only he can open. But he's neither been trained, nor is he under the Sentinel protection when he enters the Realm. If he survives, he may not only save Pops, but reveal the staggering truth behind why he'd been kept in the dark about his heritage, and the Realm, in the first place.

If youâre looking for a fantastical read, than enter ...
If youâre looking for a fantastical read, than enter the realm of The Fae and Reality.
Thirteen-year-old Malakai (Kai) and his family are heartbroken over the absence of Ian LeCrue. No one knows what happened. He just disappeared out of nowhere. Living without a father is hard, but Kai finds solace by riding his bike. In fact, he dreams of riding it all over the world in competitions.
    But fate has other plans.
Living with Pops (Kaiâs kooky grandfather) is strange enough. Maybe it has to do with all the books heâs written about magical places and unearthly creatures. So when Kai encounters talking rabbits, winged beings, and snakes with a missionânormalcy flees from his life.
Kai and his little sister, Wynn, are curious to see whatâs inside The Chamber of Horror (Popsâ study). Not to mention their fascination with Popsâ garden. Trees with faces? Anyway, as if this isnât enough, Kai has dreams. Very realistic dreams. Although Wynn is younger, she knows more than she ought to. And because of this, she helps her brother solve bits and pieces of unanswered questions, things that canât be explained. When they find the tree that leads to another realmâtheir life is forever changed.
You donât want to miss out. The Sentinel Archives is a must read!!!
    Great quick read
Fairy tale stories are pretty popular, especially now adding modern twists. This story is similar to others out there about a human family with long family connections to a faery realm, but it's unique enough to be distinct. I read it in an afternoon and it was a fun read. I also appreciated that though it's the first in a new series, only a few minor threads are left open to continue the series, the major plot points introduced early on are resolved by the end. I look forward to the next. I also have read and enjoyed all the author's other books in the White Road Chronicles. Very few minor typos easily ignored.

I love paranormal and I love finding new takes on the paranormal genre. My favs are Kim Harrison, Jeaniene frost, Charlaine Harris, just to name a few.
This book is amazing, definitely a 5 star read and listen. The book made me feel so many different emotions and I guess that's what made me love it. I'm not a fan of just angst or just HEA. I love substance and you get substance with this book. The characters were well developed too. I can't wait to move on to her other books.
    Worth a credit - YES
    Happy Reading/Listening!!!
Good Story -Audio quality mixed till ch 18
    Any additional comments?
    Enjoyable, interesting, engaging and entertaining.
Overall a really good story. Love the world the author has created for characters. It's always a plus when you find a new and interesting paranormal twist created by an author. This shows that they actually took the time to develop their story and the character's.
Kale and Deacon are both great characters. Sola was likable, just never connected with her character. So I'm glad the story played out the way it did. Started a little slow for me but by the time I was done with this story I was looking for the next book. I definitely will be continuing with the series.
Song titles as chapter headings, While I don't mind this and am familiar with most of the songs used, if this is not your normal genre of music the chapter titles have no meaning.
Needs to tighten up some of the dialogue. Saying hands free device repeatedly. Ok we get it, he's not holding his phone while he's driving.
Chapter 2 there is a repeated phrase" the accented voice came from"
Audio has a Fuzzy quality in some of the chapters for the first 17 chapters. This clears up at the start of chapter 18. If an audio has the fuzzy sound in the background I return it.
Jim Kent narrator - this is the first time I have heard him. Different voices for the characters. Female voices were pretty good as well. Nice pleasant voice. Regular part of the narration when he is not voicing a character is slightly flat/dry in the beginning. This may also have something to do with the audio quality. I have listened to previews for the other books he has narrated and he sounds great. He may just not have been the right narrator for this book.
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom
    Dry dry dry narration
I wanted to like this book. And I wonder if I would have liked it better if I had read it to myself. There was no inflection in the voices, while the French accent was very good.

    Original and engaging YA novel
I enjoy the YA genre so much as I find that it isn't marred by so many of the adult themes of other genres. There are some great series in this genre and I enjoyed "Wind Catcher" so much. The first book in the "Chosen" series, this one is the story of sixteen year old Juliet. Half native American, Juliet just wants to be like the other teenage girls, but finds out that this isn't going to be possible as her family has secrets and she has some powers that she can only avoid learning about for so long. This was a great read about self-discovery that had elements of fantasy, sci fi, adventure, mystery, coming of age and so much more. I loved the surprising revelation in the book that sets this up to be a pretty exciting series.
    Its a change....interesting
Juliet is a girl, barely old enough to know better. She attends a snotty rich kids school and her best friend is Troy. Her father is in prison for murder and her mother is a lawyer. Her grandfather, who is a medicine man for the tribe helped raise her. She was fine at her old school, but her mother, Summer, wanted more for her. But she's a half breed, and doesn't exactly fit in anywhere.
The voices in her head and the headaches get worse as time goes by. Sicheii is what she calls her grandfather. Now she gets annoyed by the Indian ways, but Troy lives close to the reservation and he sometimes gets annoyed with her. When Sicheii tells her she needs to listen to the voices, and then she finds she is the Chosen one, things start to change.
Julia is kidnapped, but managed to escape. But how did she?? Slowly, it all comes together, but not until she suffers a great loss.
Its an interesting story, but not my usual. I like some of the character, not all.
Read on my friends. I will keep you posted..
Fast paced, magic abilities, suspense-filled, action packed, great fun read!
Wind Catcher (Chosen #1) by Jeff Altabef is a great teen/young adult book but I enjoyed it too and I am certainly not young! It is a fantasy about certain Chosen kids that have certain abilities and they don't know about it. This is about one girl. It is fast, fun, and suspense-filled.
